IN REVERSE

We're back! Once again, we return from a rather lengthy hiatus with a very special episode for you all. After a whole lot more reading than is usually required for one of these (see links below), Zach presents the true story of Operation Fast and Furious, the real-world government scandal we've alluded to a few times on the show. And Joseph, of course, will be playing the role of the audience, because he didn't do any of the homework. Featuring shadowy government agencies, superweapon development, a plethora of crimes, and of course fast cars-- it has all the makings...

At long last, we've done it. Finally, years now after the original prophesy delivered to Zach in a dream, we've fulfilled our ultimate goal of watching the entire Fast franchise back-to-front. We've finally sat down and watched the original 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious. In some ways, it was exactly what we expected. But in some other important ways, it was almost nothing like what we expected. So how does it hold up against everything that came afterwards? What does it mean for the finale to come full circle to the beginning? In this, our season 3 finale and...

We're finally almost ready to watch the first film, 2001's The Fast and the Furious. But before we can do that, we've got one last origin point to take a look at, some bonus content about the original film to analyze, and some important housekeeping to get out of the way. We discuss the true story of the 1998 VIBE Magazine article Racer X, which inspired the first film, and also bonus material for The Fast and the Furious: an alternate ending, as well as some interviews regarding the real world of street racing! Finally, we wrap this one up...

Continuing our exploration of the origins of the franchise, we turn this episode to a film we knew very little about going in-- Justin Lin's 2002 film Better Luck Tomorrow. Mainly known to Fastheads as the origin of Sung Kang's character Han Lue, we didn't really know what to expect going into this movie. We were, generally speaking, pleasantly surprised by this very early work of Justin Lin's, and it left us with a lot to think about-- both in terms of the messages and themes of the film itself, as well as-- somewhat complicatedly-- how it relates to the...

Welcome back to In Reverse: Start Line! This episode is our Point Break episode, of course, in which we'll analyze both the original Point Break (1991) and the reboot (2015). The similarities between Point Break (1991) and The Fast and the Furious (2001) are often cited, so in our exploration of the origins of the franchise, it only felt right to include these two. We'll compare and contrast them with each other, of course, and with The Fast and the Furious (2001). But before we even get to that-- there's exciting franchise news! We didn't want to keep you waiting, of course, so we...

Merry xXx'mas, all! Can you believe this is the third one of these we've done? For better or for worse, this is our third xXx'mas, and it's still just as hard to find information about these films without surfacing pornography as it was when we first started. This episode, we're talking about the film that started the Xander Zone, 2002's xXx. Watching this movie was an eye-opening experience in far more ways than we anticipated, and so this episode we've prepared for you is a fun and exciting holiday special-- filled with twists, turns, trivia, and revelations! We've got...

This episode, we're going all the way back to the original pitch that Paul Walker made to Rob Cohen for what would become The Fast and the Furious: "Days of Thunder meets Donnie Brasco." So, we've gone and watched both of those films, and they're a little different from the ones we usually watch on this show... For one thing, they're not in any way connected to the Fast franchise outside of that initial idea, and for another, we actually recommend you watch these movies for a change! So in light of that, we've dispensed with most of our...

Happy Thanksgiving to all! On this episode, we'll be discussing the 2003 film The Italian Job, a film of dubious connection to the Fast & Furious franchise but with plenty of F&F DNA to decode nonetheless. Depending on how you interpret a line of Deckard Shaw's in the film Hobbs and Shaw, this might be an actual bona fide entry in the Fast & Furious franchise, but you'll have to listen in order to hear our full breakdown and opinions on how this movie could or could not fit in with the rest of the FFuniverse. And make sure you stick...

We're very excited to be back for another season, and we've got an exciting premiere episode for you all. We're finally tackling the one movie everyone has been waiting for-- The Fast and the Furious! That's right... the 1954 one. This season, we'll be discussing the roots and beginnings of the franchise from every angle, so it only made sense to start with the namesake. And we seriously did not expect there to be nearly as much connective tissue as there turned out to be. We've also got a B-side to this episode, where we discuss some bombshell news about...

We're back! Once again, we return from our (unexpectedly) lengthy hiatus with a special episode just ahead of our upcoming third season. This time, we will be presenting for you a piece of lost media, the never-completed sequel to the 2003 film The Italian Job. Featuring new original music by brother of the show and previous guest David, and with an ensemble voice cast of whichever of Zach's friends were willing to be good sports, we've put together an audio drama sure to captivate and delight!

A huge thank you to our special guests, Zach's friends Max, Ike...

At long last, we've arrived at the final episode of this, our "2 Second 2 Season." This season we've discussed the many sequels and reinventions of the Fast and Furious film series, and in this finale we arrive at Turbo Charged, the short-film prelude to 2 Fast 2 Furious and the first piece of Fast & Furious canon to follow the original film. But that wasn't qute enough for a season finale, so we've got some additional exciting stuff for you all this time! We also discuss the music of the franchise and the music it inspired, do a bit of a dive into...

Well, here we are in Florida, with the penultimate episode of our 2 Second 2 Season, in which we discuss the first ever Fast & Furious sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious. And as you'll hear on the episode, we recorded this on location in South Florida! This turned out to be a very Floridian episode about a very uniquely Floridian movie, so boy are we glad we took the opportunity. More like 2 Fast 2 Florida, amirite gamers? Anyway, this episode takes some twists and turns, so buckle up and get ready to Act a Fool!

This episode, we're discussing the 2009 short film "Los Bandoleros," which serves as a prelude to the film "Fast & Furious" discussed last episode. This is to-date Vin Diesel's one and only contribution to the Fast & Furious franchise as writer and director, so we really dive into what we can learn about his vision for Fast & Furious from this 20 minute short film. But it's not the only "short film" discussed this episode. If you watched Super Bowl LIX, or maybe if Mark Zuckerberg's algorithms recently decided you were part of the target demographic for expensive ice cream, you may have seen...

This episode, we're discussing the 2009 film Fast & Furious, the fourth film in the franchise and the one which happens to share a name with the broader franchise. This movie is a legacy sequel, a return to form, a huge tonal shift, and a soft reboot of the whole damn franchise. There’s what to dig into here, so buckle up! It's mostly about drug trafficking and grief, but also Car Detectives. There's lots to unpack here, so come join us at Dommy Diesel's Driving Dojo for Dangerous Dudes!

As promised, we're back this episode to discuss the Vin Diesel vehicle (wink) and 2009 videogame, Wheelman, developed and published by Midway Games. You'll never believe this one, but in this videogame, you play as Vin Diesel's character as he drives cars really fast, does spy stuff, and engage in violence both vehicular and bodily as you endeavor to stop the deployment of a nation-ending superweapon. Hope you're excited to hear all about Wheelman, a game we actually played in order to bring you this episode. Join us as we journey into- the Midverse!

We're back! And headed once again to Brazil, to witness where it all began- in ways we never expected. So grab a cup of Monkey Piss, because this is hopefully the last time we have to talk about bodily fluids.

And we're back again! Just a short week after last week's very spooky special, we're here to bring you another thematically appropriate episode for Election Day-- we're talking about the next Fast & Furious film in our order, xXx: State of the Union! There are some strong feelings in this one, and some themes and ideas worth talking about, which is not at all what we expected from a movie with a reputation like this one. You should listen, of course, but you should also probably watch this movie. Also, you should vote. It's Election Day, dammit! Get your ass...

This is it-- the Season One finale of In Reverse. Obviously, there's a lot more Fast and Furious to go, so don't worry, we're not done. But Furious 7 marks a significant inflection point in the franchise. There's a lot to cover regarding this movie, as it not only closes the book on the franchise as it existed previously, but sets up the way the rest of the franchise will be going forward-- which we know all too well, having done this In Reverse. For now, enjoy this extra long finale episode, and we'll be back with more after a...

We're hopping over across the pond this time, taking a quick jaunt to the footie stadiums of jolly old England, to talk about the ill-fated, critically-panned, visionary, revolutionary Fast and Furious arena live show, Fast & Furious Live! We had a lot more to say about this one than originally anticipated. Then we go right ahead and break into a good old-fashioned Unnamed Proprietary Puppets News Flash to cover a bunch of significant news and updates regarding the Fast and Furious franchise that we've been saving up these past few months-- with some interesting twists coming our way regarding what...

It's been a long time coming. We've all been through a lot together. And honestly, there were times when we thought we would never make it here. But now, after all this time, we are proud to say we have reached the very beginning-- of Spy Racers, that is! That's right, this time we're covering the very first season of Fast and Furious Spy Racers, in which the adventures of Tony Toretto and friends actually begin. Join us as we witness the origins of this series and tackle the hard questions-- questions like "why are we doing this?" and "...

We're finally back to the main films of the franchise! That's right, this time, we're facing our fate head-on and tackling Fate of the Furious! For a film that was billed pretty heavily as Vin Diesel facing off against The Rock and the rest of the Fast family, the movie doesn't provide quite as much Big Civil War Energy as we were maybe expecting-- but don't worry, we've gone ahead and provided some conflict of our own. Get ready, this is our Civil War!

It's time to get down to business... Monkey Business.

We're back for more Spy Racers, and in this one we've finally made it to the arc we've all been waiting for (dreading), Rio. This is the second season of the show, and given what we knew about it going in, we decided to do this one a little differently. That's right-- this one was recorded live as we watched the show, and drank along to cope. We hope you enjoy our real-time reactions to all the mind-control-and-monkey-based shenanigans that happen this season. You might also want to...

How do you do, fellow gamers? In this episode, we take our first foray into the GamerVerse, the Gamer Zone, whatever you want to call the wonderful world of videogames! Join us for our discussion of Fast & Furious Crossroads, the 2020 videogame that is apparently integral to understanding the deep lore of this franchise. We've also got some heavier stuff to talk about, but once that's all addressed, it's Gamer Time.

This time around we're covering the Mexico arc of Fast & Furious Spy Racers. We were actually looking forward to this one going in, but boy, they sure showed us. This season in particular has some wild twists and turns, and hits new highs and unprecedented lows. Just be glad we're the ones watching Mr. Diesel's special Netflix project, so nobody else has to. This is our first episode recorded post-hiatus, and yes, we're back to Spy Racers! We're tackling the fifth season of the show, the South Pacific arc, but we've made some changes to how we're watching it. This time, we've dared to ask... what if Spy Racers was an anime?

We're back at it again this episode with another run of Spy Racers! This time we're tackling the first half of the final season, and somehow it's already fully off the rails. There's five more seasons of this show, and let's just say some of us are already quite done. But we're nothing if not committed, so look forward to our (not so slow) descent into Spy Racers hell.

We f-9-ally got around to watching another movie in this franchise, and well… it wasn’t great. Things got a bit spooky, a bit biblical, and a bit- uh, super long, but we promise it all comes together in (almost) a semi coherent fashion. So buckle up, it’s time to make your fastsona.

In this episode, we begin our foray into the FFUniverse's TV side, the Netflix original animated series Fast and Furious Spy Racers-- starting, of course, with the final 6 episode "Hollywood" arc of the 6th season, "Homecoming" (yes, there are SIX SEASONS). No, we didn't make this up, and yes, we did start a six-season streaming TV show with the final six episodes of its run. Y'all can't say we're not dedicated to this project.
