An exciting first weekend of World Cup action culminated with an all-time classic between Fiji and Wales, with the boys from the wrong side of the Severn sneaking over the line thanks to a dropped pass by Semi Radrada. We discuss all the big games affecting the Home Nations plus France's opening night win over the All Blacks.
We also chat through Gloucester's opening game win over Nottingham and some encouraging performances by a number of the young guns hoping to make an impact this season. Finally, why not chime in and add to the debate...

Series 5 - Episode 2: A new low for English Rugby as they lose to Fiji in their final World Cup Warm-up; plus Gloucester have a new Away shirt and it's a cracker!

English Rugby is in a bit of a mess at the moment, but none of us really thought it would get this bad. A defeat at home to the Fijians leaves England 8th in the World rankings and in utter turmoil ahead of the World Cup in two weeks time. We chat through how bad it really was, were there any positives and how much worse it could get?
We also discuss the new Gloucester away shirt which is a bit of a cracker, plus the other World Cup warm up games including South Africa's demolition of...
Season 5 - Episode 1: Gloucester Open Day and New Kit; England, Owen Farrell, Billy Vunipola

We are back once again (like a renegade master) to serve up some badly thought out hot takes on all things Gloucester, but also rugby in general. This week the lads chat through the new home kit, the Summer party at Kingsholm and some of the positivity that seems to emanating from the club. Then we discuss the awful rugby and decision making by England in their pre World Cup warm up games. With a particular focus on a certain Owen Farrell.

Series 4 - Episode 36: Glos-Hartpury make it to their first Premiership final to face Exeter Chiefs; London Irish become the third club to fail plus World Cup squad updates

Gloucester-Hartpury overcame their West Country rivals Bristol to make it to their first Premiership final. We discuss the performance, what it means for Gloucester Rugby generally and why you just have to get a ticket! Meanwhile, London Irish have unfortunately become the third club to fail and disappear this season. We chat through the implications and where our sympathies lie.
Finally, as the first squads are announced for the World Cup, we discuss Zach Mercer's inclusion. (Note, we did have a good 15 min rant about the ridiculous decision to exclude Val - then he ended up being...
Series 4 - Episode 35: Interview with Karl Dickson, The Sarries/Farrell Incident; Journey into reffing; Social Media and abuse, Aspirations and World Cup plans

Probably our most anticipated interview as Ed and Jim chat to Karl Dickson all about THAT game and incident, his journey into refereeing, the good and bad of Social Media and the scrutiny he finds himself under, plus his aspirations for the future and World Cup plans.
Massive thanks to Karl for agreeing to come on and answering some tough questions.

Series 4 - Episode 34: Review of Premiership Semi's, London Irish struggles continue; Final ticket pricing; Gloucester Season review part 2 and Glos-Hartpury can secure a Home Semi

We review the two Premiership Semi's and discuss whether we can hope to see Gloucester match the intensity required next season. The lads also chat through the cost of the final tickets - are they an unnecessary barrier to supporters attending the show piece event. All this as London Irish are edging ever closer to oblivion as the RFU give a deadline of 30th May for their takeover to be completed.
Finally, we do bite the bullet and discuss the second half of the season review, before we preview the Glos-Hartpury game against Quins Ladies and next...
Series 4 - Episode 33: Gloucester end their dreadful season with a defeat to Bristol; Our Season Review (Part One); Local success for the Junior clubs and London Irish in financial trouble

Gloucester ended a pretty disastrous season with another defeat, this time away to Bristol Bears. The guys chat through another disappointing performance and where the issues and problems lie. We also look at the season as a whole in Part one of our Season review (Honestly we try to be positive).
Elsewhere London Irish, despite positive results on the pitch look increasingly in trouble off it as another side is having financial issues. Worcester Wasps looks increasingly likely (We did tell you this would happen) and we talk about great successes for our local Junior sides and...
Series 4 - Episode 32: Gloucester suffer defeat again in their final home game of the season; A thank you to Billy and Ben (and Jordi); Jersey heading to Championship title and Social media fall out

Another week, unfortunately another home defeat - although again a much improved performance and some definite positives we can look to. Sale secured a home semi-final but the gap on the pitch was not that noticeable. Hopefully pointing the coaches to a better way to play rugby. We talk through the game, the key moments and also thank Billy Twelvetrees and Ben Morgan for their incredible efforts over the last decade or so.
The lads also talk through the punishment handed down to Jack Nowell and whether he can feel a little aggrieved. Plus why we think...

Firstly, thanks to everyone who voted for us in the Best Rugby Podcase category at the Sports Podcast Awards. Remarkably you managed to get us to third place overall (2nd in the Rugby Union podcasts) which is just ridiculous. We really appreciate every single one of you who listen, voted and give us such great feedback.
Unfortunately we couldn't spend the whole podcast talking about us and had to mention Gloucester defeat to Bath. We also chat through the controversy around the Yellow Car/Red Card between Exeter and Leicester and the fall out from players commenting...
Series 4 - Episode 30: An all-time great Gloucester performance nearly was enough to beat the reigning European Champions (but not quite); European round-up; Improvements to the TMO; Chat GPT coach?

So so so close but not quite enough to pull off one of the all-time great victories and Champions Cup shocks. A rejuvenated and re-energised Gloucester side played some scintillating rugby but feel just short away to La Rochelle. We discuss the game and how we hope that Skivs and the coaching team do try to play more like we did on Saturday rather than (as promised) a return to the dross and box-kick heavy stuff we have seen recently.
The lads also discuss the other European games, whether the TMO system needs to be improved or...
Series 4 - Episode 29: A shocking result away to the Falcons as Gloucester lose to 14 men; What can we expect from the La Rochelle game and more problems in the English Professional game

This was probably the hardest pod we have had to do so far. Trying to find positives in a performance and result that left even the most supportive and optimistic Gloucester fan struggling. We discuss Gloucester's woeful defeat away to Newcastle, what went wrong, were there any positives to take and why the next couple of games (including La Rochelle) are going to be crucial for George Skivington and the rest of the coaching team.
Also as news broke today (29th March) of more problems facing Professional rugby in England, we also chat through...
Series 4 - Episode 28: England get hammered by an impressive France; Gloucester lose to Leicester in the return leg of the Slater Cup; Jake Polledri to leave and we have been shortlisted for an award

A weekend to forget for England and Gloucester supporters as we saw the Cherry and Whites put in a horrible second half display to lose to Leicester, while England were on the wrong side of a hammering by France - ending in their heaviest ever Twickenham defeat. We discuss both games, what went wrong, look for the positives (believe us, there were some!) and focus on what happens next, especially for Gloucester.
The lads also chat about Jake Polledri's departure for Italy at the end of the season and how we have been shortlisted for an award!

Gloucester beat Quins in an exciting, tense and topsy-turvy game that was an absolute must win. We discuss the match, the result and whether it's fair to be disappointed with the final two minutes and giving Quins the two bonus points. Just how good is Val? Should Santi stay at 10? Would LRZ beat a Cheetah in a race? These are just a few of the questions we don't really answer.
The lads also discuss the other weekend results and the continuing drama and mess that is Welsh Rugby. Now at a point where the players are considering...

Series 4 - Episode 20: An interview with Alix Popham and Tom Morris of Progressive Rugby - Concussion, TBIs, Head injuries and tackling - The future of Rugby and what needs to change

When we started this pod back in 2020, the main aim was to chat nonsense about our favourite Rugby Club. As the years have gone on, we have managed to speak to Gloucester and England legends about their playing days; fans about their memories and plenty of frivolous and unimportant aspects of the game we all love.
This special pod is different. Ed speaks to former Wales, Newport, Leeds, Llanelli and Brive player, Alix Popham who in late 2020 announced he was suffering from early onset dementia. A disease caused by the game he played professionally for 14 years. As...
Series 4 - Episode 19: Gloucester well beaten by an impressive Ireland, we mean Leinster side; the return of Snowy and all our questions answered; Billy Twelvetrees and Jordy Reid to leave?

Gloucester put out their strongest possible side against Leinster and were given a rugby lesson. Basically playing an Ireland XV (without a couple of their better players too) the Cherry and Whites were swept aside by a ruthless and excellent Leinster team.
The lads chat through the game, what went well (Val and the Scrum); what went wrong (pretty much everything else) and whether the format and the competition can genuinely continue with this level of disparity.
With the return of Snowy after a few weeks absence, we ask him all the questions he's being d...

Gloucester won with the last kick of the match in a hard fought and tight encounter with London Irish. The weather and the reluctance to attack from either side meant a sell out crowd got a little restless, but ultimately a win is a win. We discuss the game, the positives and the persistent concerns around the lack of any attacking structure.
We also chat through the latest in the Joe Marler incident and whether an ex-player should ref their old club. Finally we consider how bad a Cherry Jam Live! event would be.

We also chat about the really stupid format and why Gloucester's decision to send an 'inexperienced' side over to Dublin was always going to happen with how the competition is run.
