MotorMouth Radio
Join the “Motormouths” Ray Guarino and Chris Switzer for features, information, guest interviews, tech tips, and your call-in questions on all topics relating to automobiles.
Porsche 930, AMC Hot Rods & welding tech.
Ray talks about an inspection he did on a Porsche 930 & the fantastic man-cave the car owner keeps some of his cars in. Chris gets into AMC Hot Rods with a caller, then conveys his method for replacing say bar links. Car auction prices get some coverage, and a mystery dent on Chris' Explorer finds the boys talking with a caller about learning to weld.
Joe Oldham tech & online parts buying.
Ray finds a Motor publication from 1974 edited by Joe Oldham & shares some of the tech tips, as outdated as they may be. The "new-old" Camry gifted a surprise with a working cassette deck AND CD player, making its new owner very happy. A caller tells a story about TPMS recalibration woes on his Corvette, and the boys talk about their strategy for buying auto parts online.
Preaching the word: old cars are IN!
Ray mounts the soapbox and proudly announces that he's practiced what he preaches on this show by buying a pristine 31 year old Toyota! Chris doesn't disagree, and MotorMouth history is made. The boys talk about new cars prices, and a recent trip to O'Reilly Auto Parts by Chris leads to talk about how trying to find some major brands might be hard to do now. A very specific eighth inch bit takes center stage when Chris needs to drill out a rusted exhaust bolt, stay tuned to see if he accomplishes his goal.
Slot cars, sunroofs & switches.
It’s time for spring auto repair & maintenance, so Ray starts with adding an air deflector to the Mazda sunroof. Follow that up with a trunk switch replacement on the Cruze using a snazzy new Matco clip removal tool, and its Dum-Dum for the win! Lucas products make detailing the car so easy it's almost criminal. A local slot car show get Chris delving deep into his past with this great car-guy hobby.
Vinyl gloves, motor oil choices & dash diagnostics.
The winter that won't end has us car guys firmly in its grasp and we want to get out to some of our favorite car shows and cruises! Chris talks about how hard it is working on a car while wearing vinyl gloves in cold weather. We learn that his Ford Explorer engine makes noise and has a lower oil pressure when run on synthetic oil than it does when filled with a blended product. The way dash gauges and driver information is conveyed drives both Chris & Ray a little nuts, and they tell us all about it too.
“Elvis Hitler”, Motorhead, Lowriders & LEDs
"Elvis Hitler" and Motorhead provide the music this week, but the specifics of LED bulb conversions really light up the first half of the show. The new postal Low Rider stamp takes us on a nostalgic trip to s time when cars had more alarm buzzers than real safety features. A caller brings up the weak spot of the Ecotec engine when he asks about plastic cooling system components & related parts.
Don Keefe talks Pontiac Performance
Author Don Keefe shares his vast knowledge of High Performance Pontiacs with us this week. Our friends Marty Schorr & Joe Oldham get tossed into the mix as well as 8 Lug wheels & Hurst mags. Intake manifold options and the elusive Ram Air IV & V engines really get Don wound up an onto the topic of the radical 421 Tempest he owned.

Brake pad & fluid tech, Carl Anthony & Caddy Eldorado.
Ray hits hard with brake pad, brake fluid and tire tread checks as part of normal maintenance. Carl Anthony tells us about his new writing gig at www.HowToGeek.com which is more than just an informational car site. New car component longevity gets questioned by a caller, and Chris gets to vacillate about the prospects of a new Caddy Eldorado.

Brake bleeders, custom Matco tools & IDIDIT steering column.
In typical MotorMouth fashion, our first topic is how to diagnose a modern washing machine by reading its trouble codes. A new tilt steering column & custom bucket seats are up next for the GTO to complement its new paintjob.
