Baldwin IV became King of Jerusalem at 13, already showing signs of leprosy. His disease would eventually blind him and leave him unable to use his limbs[citation:2][citation:4]. Yet in 1177, at 16, he led a surprise attack against Saladin's 30,000-strong army at Montgisard and won[citation:5][citation:6]. Saladin himself respected him[citation:5]. Baldwin ruled for a decade, holding factions together[citation:3]. He died in 1185 at 24[citation:7]. This is his story.
