Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, the news show for everyone whose body has been quietly reclassified as public infrastructure.

This week, Trump and Vivek Ramaswamy turn child sexual abuse into a campaign ad, abortion bans get linked to more women murdered, ICE skips prenatal care for a woman who already lost one baby, an Arizona man gets paid for his ex-wife's abortion, and both parties campaign on trans kids. Let's get into it.

Two Pilots Died Fighting A Yosemite Fire That Threatened Nothing, On Burgum's Orders
Two Pilots Died Fighting A Yosemite Fire That Threatened Nothing, On Burgum's Orders episode artwork
Last Friday at 10:00 PM

Two firefighting pilots died fighting a Yosemite wildfire that was climbing a remote mountainside, away from every home in the park, under Interior Secretary Doug Burgum's order to fully suppress every wildfire, no matter what it's threatening.

"For what?" one federal fire official told The Atlantic. "There's nothing out there. Just let nature do its thing." Another asked, "Did they die in vain?"

Burgum's new Wildland Fire Service runs firefighting in every national park, and his April memo calls for "the presumption of a full suppression strategy applied to every wildfire." It's a throwback to...

Trump Says Poisoned Camp Lejeune Marines Only Get Paid If Republicans Win Midterms
Trump Says Poisoned Camp Lejeune Marines Only Get Paid If Republicans Win Midterms episode artwork
Last Thursday at 10:00 PM

Donald Trump just told Marines poisoned at Camp Lejeune that they get their money only if Republicans win in November. His exact words:

If we don't win, there's no money. If we do win, you're getting it.

Ransom notes used to be cut out of magazines. Now they come with a teleprompter and a Lee Greenwood song.

From 1953 to 1987, the Marine Corps served its own people a tap water cocktail of dry cleaning solvent, degreaser and benzene. In 1982, one system tested at 280 times the EPA limit. The base is a Superfund site. They...

Trump Opens A $25M Fraud Hotline And Names Himself The Judge. Let's Flood It. episode artwork
Last Wednesday at 10:00 PM

Donald Trump just launched a $25 million fraud bounty program, named himself the judge of who gets paid, and gave the first check to a 24-year-old right-wing YouTuber.

It comes out of Trump's fraud task force, which he set up in March and put JD Vance in charge of. Vance says the work is "fun." His pitch: "if you want to help us stop it, you get to share in the rewards." Which is exactly how every pyramid scheme I've ever been invited to started.

So how much do you get? Trump says 1% of whatever you...

Trump Plans To Go After 10 Million Student Loan Borrowers After You Vote
Trump Plans To Go After 10 Million Student Loan Borrowers After You Vote episode artwork
Last Tuesday at 10:00 PM

Donald Trump's Treasury Department is getting ready to seize the tax refunds, Social Security checks and paychecks of nearly 10 million Americans who've defaulted on their student loans. And according to five sources who talked to The Washington Sun, they're not planning to announce it until after you vote.

Why wait? One source explained:

"It would be politically insane to do this before the midterms."

Politically insane. Not cruel. Not wrong. Just bad timing. They're not debating whether to mug you. They're debating whether to do it before or after you mail in your...

Trump DOJ Kills Criminal Probe Of Meta After Meta Pays Trump $31 Million episode artwork
Last Monday at 10:00 PM

Trump's Justice Department just shut down a criminal investigation into whether Meta helped kids buy fentanyl pills on its apps, right after Meta's lawyers, including Trump's own personal law firm, went to DOJ's political bosses and asked nicely.

Since the pandemic, federal prosecutors in Virginia had a criminal grand jury investigating whether Meta helped create a market for young people to buy fentanyl pills and other addictive drugs, let prescription drugs get promoted to children, and made money off it. Meta executives had been subpoenaed to testify, the one notification you can't swipe away.

10/18/2026

Welcome back to This Week in Tyranny. While you were watching Elon Musk’s Roadster hop over a Cybertruck on 600 liters of compressed air like the world’s most expensive whoopee cushion, the Trump administration spent the week making sure nobody can stop it from doing anything.

This week: Trump let Putin off the hook to fix gas prices from his own war, his Justice Department threatened to jail election workers, two Democrats co-wrote a bill that locks judges out of protecting your public lands, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth fired the general who warned him about miss...

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where the forecast is always partly cloudy with a chance of some guy in a suit trying to grab the steering wheel of my uterus.

This week, Trump’s ICE is locking up women for being abused, Trump fires the women around him and saves his compliments for the handsome men, Dr. Oz cuts off trans kids’ medical care while two Democratic governors hold the door, and the scuba world is having its Me Too moment. Let’s get into it.

ICE Is Taking Kids From Their Parents And Labeling Them "Unaccompanied" episode artwork
10/16/2026

ICE is arresting parents inside the United States, taking their kids, and stamping those kids “unaccompanied” so it can lock them in federal shelters and foster care for months. Mother Jones found kids as young as 8.

Under Biden this almost never happened. Under Trump, kids taken inside the country instead of at the border are now about 1 in 5 of the children sent to these shelters, and lawyers think it’s closing in on half. Kids used to be held about a month. Now the average is more than six.

In April, ICE arrested a Venezuelan dad ou...

Vance Hunts Food Stamp Lamborghinis While Thieves Steal $470 Million
Vance Hunts Food Stamp Lamborghinis While Thieves Steal $470 Million episode artwork
10/15/2026

JD Vance keeps warning America about people driving Lamborghinis on food stamps, and ProPublica just found the real SNAP fraud. Crime rings stole $470 million from more than 990,000 families last year, and the Trump administration cut the money to stop them.

Back in May, at a rally in Des Moines, Vance said, “if you are wealthy enough to afford a Lamborghini, then you are wealthy enough to not receive SNAP benefits.” Finally, somebody brave enough to take on the Lamborghini lobby. He also said hunting fraud in government is “like fishing in a barrel with dynamite.”

So how m...

10/14/2026

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life, lobbied for Texas’s abortion pill bounty law, and now she’s getting sued under it for ordering abortion pills.

Back in March, according to the lawsuit, Hawkins and three of her staffers stood outside Space Center Houston and ordered abortion pills on their phones. None of them were pregnant. It was a stunt to prove the pills are too easy to get. Mother Jones was there watching, because they were following her for a documentary. Then came the post: “Guess what we are doing? Ordering abortion pills undercover? Yep. Stay t...

Trump’s Park Service Chainsawed 430 Trees on National Park Land for His Golf Course episode artwork
10/13/2026

Trump’s Park Service took chainsaws to at least 430 trees at a public park in Washington, D.C. over a holiday weekend so the president can get a fancier golf course. They warned the judge on the case at 4:55 on a Friday.

The judge had asked for a heads up before they did anything they couldn’t undo. They filed it minutes before the courts closed for a three-day weekend. By Saturday morning the chainsaws were running. Technically, that’s notice.

The course is East Potomac Golf Links. It’s 106 years old, it’s public, and the or...

10/12/2026

Homeland Security agents raided Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar's Washington home before dawn this morning, three weeks before the midterms, in a criminal case over her immigration paperwork.

Omar came here as a 12-year-old refugee after her family fled civil war in Somalia. She's been a citizen for 26 years. She's on the ballot in three weeks. And the federal government picked this morning to get curious about her forms.

The Justice Department says it's "part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation." Homeland Security referred every question to the Justice Department. One agency shows up at her...

10/12/2026

Welcome back to This Week in Tyranny. While you were watching the Yankees get swept out of the playoffs, the Trump administration packed a year’s worth of “what is wrong with these people?” into seven days.

This week: Pete Hegseth wants to livestream an execution while he hides the deaths of his own troops. Trump signed sanctions on Russia and then cut Putin a deal. ICE agents dressed as construction workers shot a father in front of his five-year-old. ICE is offering kindergartners cash to leave the country. And the administration told international election observers to stay h...

10/11/2026

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where I spend all week watching powerful men explain women to women, so you can scream into a pillow on your own schedule.

This week: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. handed the country’s birth control training to people who don’t like birth control. Pete Hegseth is getting sued over a study on whether women can fight. A Republican running for Congress thinks a child’s rape can turn into “something incredible.” And AI chatbots will take a Muslim woman’s hijab off for anyone who asks. Let’s get into it.<...

10/07/2026

Donald Trump’s immigration agents have detained at least 506 American citizens since he took office, and the Department of Homeland Security’s official position is that none of this is happening.

ProPublica published every case it could find today, with video, because the government doesn’t keep count. Convenient, since you can’t be wrong about a number you refuse to write down.

Being a citizen is supposed to be the one thing that keeps these guys off you. So let’s check the denials against the receipts.

10/03/2026

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where the men in charge keep saying they love women, and I keep asking them to do it from farther away.

This week: one Democrat in Albany is protecting the law that got the Cornell case closed. The Education Secretary locked in weaker rules for every campus survivor in America. Three attorneys general want the name of every woman in their states who ordered abortion pills. Missouri Republicans are fighting over whether their abortion ban is mean enough. And Tennessee tried to execute a survivor of child sexual abuse...

10/03/2026

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles told Attorney General Todd Blanche to hold off on going after abortion pills until after the midterms, because they know that if you saw the plan, you’d vote against it.

That’s from the Washington Sun, where a senior administration official said:

“No one wants us taking any real action before the midterms.”

That is a wild way to talk about your own agenda. People usually talk like that about a surprise party or a bank job. Wiles reportedly warned that going after the pill now woul...

10/01/2026

Pete Hegseth just put Elon Musk in charge of planning America’s future wars, then launched a brand new four-star command to buy the robots to fight them. The Secretary of Defense rolled it all out Wednesday at Quantico in a speech he called the State of the Force, which sounds like a Star Wars sequel that went straight to streaming.

It’s called Project Meridian. Musk, Anduril founder Palmer Luckey and Newt Gingrich get 120 days to map out the future of war:

“from subterranean depths to the cislunar frontier.”

Cislunar means between here and...

Trump launched a government AI to answer Americans’ questions, and when it said Joe Biden won 2020, somebody shut those answers off before Trump even finished his launch speech. Next year, the plan is for you to apply for your passport, Medicare and student loans through this thing, and on day one, it got censored for telling the truth about him.

It’s called America.gov, and Trump promised on stage it would help you “accurately and quickly.” It did both, right up until the accuracy was about him.

Who won in 2020? Biden, 306 to 232. Can Trump run agai...

A Cornell student says seven fraternity brothers drugged her and raped her for hours, and Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten read her report and decided it was consensual. She’s now suing Cornell, the fraternity and all seven men, and you’ve probably never heard a word about it.

Here’s what her lawsuit says. In October 2024, she went to the Chi Phi house to see a friend. He and another brother pressured her into taking ketamine. Two men became three, and three became seven. At 1:42 in the morning, one of them allegedly invited the rest o...

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where the men running this country have decided my body is a group project, and somehow I’m the only one who doesn’t get a vote.

This week: Trump’s pick to run the FDA won’t say an IUD isn’t an abortion, chatbots quietly make women sound dumber at work, anti-abortion groups throw a fiftieth birthday party for the law that took abortion away from poor women, Tennessee makes a mom carry a baby with no brain until her own life is in danger, and the religious...

09/25/2026

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti is demanding that Planned Parenthood “identify under oath all pregnant women” it helped get abortion pills, and hand over the medical files of trans patients while it’s at it. He’s the same shitbag who took Tennessee’s ban on care for trans kids to the Supreme Court and won, and one landmark wasn’t enough for the scrapbook.

He also wants them to “identify your employees, officers, or agents who are responsible for the content of your website.” My dude, you’re hunting down whoever updates the FAQ page. The attorney general o...

Tennessee is about to execute an abuse survivor it spent her whole life failing, and Governor Bill Lee says it’s happening next Wednesday.

Quick note: the apps bury videos that use the real word for what was done to her, so I’m saying “assaulted.” You know what I mean. The algorithm is more upset about the word than anyone who could have stopped it ever was about the act.

Her name is Christa Pike. She’d be the first woman Tennessee has executed since 1819, back when the state’s mental health system was a jar of lee...

09/24/2026

JD Vance just kicked 750,000 people off Obamacare, and one of his red flags for fraud is that they never went to the doctor.

Vance and Dr. Oz rolled this out Tuesday as a fraud crackdown, and Oz walked us through the red flags. These people signed up through a broker, their premiums were fully covered by tax credits, and they never filed a claim. They had health insurance and didn’t use it. Healthy customers who never file claims aren’t a scam. They’re the reason the insurance company can afford your kid’s broken arm. Oz is a...

Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon can’t count its own war dead and can’t read a satellite photo, and on February twenty eighth it put two Tomahawk missiles into an elementary school in Iran and killed at least a hundred and twenty three children.

That was seven months ago. What’s new is Friday, when Bloomberg got officials inside the investigation to talk.

The school sits in Minab, on the Strait of Hormuz. Two hundred and sixty kids. It was built almost ten years ago on ground that used to belong to an Iranian naval unit, wh...

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where apparently every woman in America now needs a permission slip, and I think mine got lost in 2022.

This week: a mom who needed the state’s permission to leave for an abortion and didn’t get it, ICE losing count of the miscarriages in its own custody, a Michigan gym class that wants a note about your daughter’s period, a cop who used a license plate camera to help a domestic violence suspect find his accuser, and Florida’s attorney general arguing that surrogacy is slavery. The family of a Texas woman who died begging for an abortion is suing Ken Paxton. It’s the first lawsuit in this country over a death caused by an abortion ban, and it names the attorney general who is currently running for Senate.

Her name was Tierra Walker. Thirty-seven years old, a dental assistant in San Antonio, a wife, and a mom to a kid named JJ. In 2021 she developed preeclampsia and lost twins. So when she found out she was pregnant again in September of 2024, with uncontrolled blood pressure, diabetes, and seizures nobody could explain, sh...

Women are dying of ectopic pregnancies at nearly double the rate they were before Roe fell, and the climb is steepest in states that banned abortion. It’s the CDC’s own data, sitting in a federal database for years, and nobody in government said a word until ProPublica pulled it this week.

Leitaea Lowrimore spent a week bleeding through four hospitals in Oklahoma and Arkansas with a pregnancy growing in the wrong place, and a doctor told her he couldn’t take it out because it might get him, quoting her lawsuit,

09/12/2026

Hey fam, welcome back to the Gilead Gazette, where I spend my Saturdays going through the receipts on what the men running this country did to women all week.

This week, an argument to take the vote away from American women went mainstream. Texas moved its maternal death report to four weeks after the midterms. Louisiana spent Wednesday in federal court trying to end mail order abortion pills in all fifty states. And Indiana argued in front of its own Supreme Court that its religious freedom law was never meant for Jews.

More Americans have now been killed by the air at Ground Zero than were killed by the planes. Nearly ten thousand of them. And they are dead because the people in charge told them it was safe to breathe when it wasn’t.

The attacks killed 2,977. Since then the Victim Compensation Fund has tied nearly 10,000 more deaths to illnesses people got from the dust, 5,892 of those cancer. About 400,000 people breathed it in. The federal health program is treating 145,275 of them right now, and that number goes up every year.

His campaign calls him Doc Marshall and advertises his deep appreciation and passion for the sanctity of life. The New York Times went through Kansas court records. Did you know, there is no constitutional right to drink water that won’t poison you. That’s not a hot take, that’s a federal appeals court ruling handed down Friday, and Sophie Hurwitz at Mother Jones is one of the only people who noticed.

Here’s what that means in practice. Your city can put lead in your water. Your city can find out about the lead. Your city can then tell you the water is fine. And when your kid comes back from the pediatrician with brain damage, you have no federal case. Judge Kurt Eng...
