On Couch with Kelly & Clint
Ep. 19 Interview with Ashley Bean Thornton
Kelly and Clint sit down with Ashley Bean Thorton, candidate for TX House Representative, House District 56. Today’s discussion centers around Ashley's main passion which is education (thank you!) and what she would also do with healthcare and immigration. Ashley is a Waco staple and would be an incredible representative for all of McLennan County. And the reason is because she cares, she’s thoughtful, she’s involved, and she’s passionate about this city and County. Her reputation around Waco proceeds her because of all that she has done and is doing for this city. That’s the kind of le...

Ep. 17 Loyalty?! To what?!
Kelly and Clint sit down and talk about the idea of being loyal, and specifically being loyal to a political party. Somewhere along the line loyalty became an excuse for those being loyal to be abused and mistreated by those they are being loyal to. We start by learning it in relationships, whether with friends or family or even professional. Years can go by and you realize you’re being loyal to someone who’s not being loyal back to you and who does not deserve your loyalty in the first place, and it’s usually because you’re afraid o...
Ep. 16 Keep the conversations going! If you don’t, they win
Kelly and Clint sit down and talk about the need to keep the conversations going. We can’t shut up. If we do…they win. It’s only for people refusing to stay quiet in the face of evil, corruption, and lies that we still have a shot at this thing called democracy. The easiest path would seemingly be to keep your mouth shut and hope it all passes over, and that as it does you won’t be bothered…but think again. You will be impacted. So better to speak up now while you still have a chance to actuall...
Ep. 15 Interview with Chelsey Hockett – Democratic candidate for TX-05
Kelly and Clint sit down with Chelsey Hockett and talk about her current run to be a US Democratic Representative from TX D-05. Chelsey is wonderful, and Kelly and Clint loved sitting down, hearing her story, and learning more about someone who saw the problems in her community and bravely decided to do something about it. Chelsey’s story, her experience, her ability to dive in and figure things out, and her passion to help people make her an incredible candidate that the people of TX would be lucky to have represent them. Please visit Chelsey’s website and dona...
Ep. 14 We’re talking trans lives
Kelly and Clint sit down to talk about trans lives and how important they are, and how they personally are not available to be manipulated on this issue. Of all the issues facing this world, we would be much better off if we paid attention to the real and present dangers and concerns that are in our face daily, and not the ones fabricated to take our attention away from that which could actually hurt us. Trans folks are beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made, and deserving of our love, respect and protection. Politicians, and others, are working hard to...
Ep. 13 Ok, we see you are rotten, and we believe you...finally
Kelly and Clint sit down and have a discussion inspired by the Maya Angelou quote, “when people show you who they are, believe them the first time.” This practice is one that needs to be adhered to now more than ever. As they open up about times they have not lived by this rule, Kelly and Clint discuss how doing that now in the “adulting” phase of life makes all the difference. This crazy time will one day end largely because of more and more people breaking the cycle of letting people continue to lead even when they have continua...
Ep. 12 Women’s healthcare, Olivia Rodrigo, the A-word, and deep humble breaths
Kelly and Clint sit down to discuss all things women’s healthcare. A discussion largely inspired by the music festival Daisy Chain Fields which was created by singer/songwriter/actor Olivia Rodrigo to bring awareness to and raise money for all things women’s healthcare. A festival that in the end raised over twenty million dollars. Kelly and Clint have this discussion from the perspectives of two kids who continue to deconstruct growing up in the deep south and the evangelical church…which will be foreign to some and very familiar to others. Such a tough discussion for so many l...
Ep. 11 You support the troops? Well, Trump definitely doesn't. Also, don't mess with Doris Miller!
Kelly and Clint sit down on the couch to discuss what they think it means to "support the troops" after news breaks of local hero Doris Miller possibly having his name stripped off of a new aircraft carrier and possibly being replaced with the name of known military disparager, Donald Trump. This news has not only hit Waco hard but it has struck a nerve with the entire country. Kelly and Clint are beside themselves as "leaders" who claim they "support the troops" continue to do just the opposite, and all the while voters who claim the same...keep...
Bonus Mini Ep - Vikki Goodwin, candidate for Texas Lieutenant Governor
Kelly and Clint sit down with Vikki Goodwin, current TX State Rep and Democratic Candidate for Texas Lieutenant Governor, for a bonus mini episode! After just wrapping up a round table discussion in a church basement with concerned citizens of Waco, Vikki's team said..."hey we love your podcast...could we shoot one real quick?" Easiest yes ever! So without our couch, pillows, or even our microphones, we found a room and sat down to discuss Vikki's passion to fix the failing healthcare system in Texas and why she's running to be the next Lieutenant Governor or Texas.
<...Ep. 10 The systems should work for everybody...we don't have to suck so bad
Kelly and Clint sit down on the couch and discuss a common theme of growing up and in that growth reviewing systems that don't work like you either thought they did or want them to. We can't stick our heads in the sand and pretend like everything is working fine when it simply isn't. It may be fun at the time to ignore the world around you and all it's problems, but is that really ok? Nope. It's time to grow up, pay attention, and do something... to put it kindly!

<...Ep. 9 This one is for the teachers and that public school life...which is under attack.
Kelly and Clint sit down on the couch and dedicate this one to the teachers and those fighting for public schools. They find themselves, like millions of folks all over the country, headed back to school after the summer. So it only made sense to talk about all the ways the public school system has impacted them in their young lives and now with their own kids and community. Public schools all over this country are under attack and being defunded, devalued, and torn apart by corrupt politicians. It's beyond time to stand up and fight for these schools...
Ep. 8 Family, friends, Trump, and big fat boundaries
Kelly and Clint sit down on the couch and discuss the harsh realities of living in a world where how you vote actually does matter and who you align yourself with does actually effect relationships. It’s never easy to see a close friendship change drastically or to experience the deterioration of a family bond, but here we are. It’s 2026 and people all over the country, and the world for that matter, are having to say goodbye to the comfort certain relationships brought them and the security they once believed came from blood ties. For those of us that...
Ep. 7 Gen Z is leaving the church over Trump...and we're here for it
In a recent Instagram post Sharon McMahon, ( @sharonsaysso ) aka America's Government Teacher, highlighted a study which showed that 48% of Gen Z stays away from church because of the church's support of Trump. Since Kelly and Clint's upbringing as young kids and young adults was largely in the church they of course had to talk about it! They're both grateful for those taking the big risk of stepping away from a place so familiar to stand up for what's right.

Ep. 6 So, Kelly and Clint, what was that whole being on T.V. thing like?
Kelly and Clint were recently asked by a viewer what it was like to have gone from just moving to Waco and trying to start a small business to all of the sudden finding themselves on T.V., and on a show that kind of blew up!! In short...it was wild! The struggles relationally, professionally, and interpersonally were real. The beauty is that it's real for anyone in any industry or any stage of life as they embark on a journey they never expected...which is why they shared their experiences today.

Ep. 5 Speaking of the dead...how they lived
Kelly and Clint talk about Lindsey Graham's passing and why if you want people to talk well about you when you die...do well when you live. You really don't want anyone writing an o-bitch-uary now do you??? Thanks for jumping on the couch with us!!
