Icing Pucks
We, Bex and Ryan, got into ice hockey this year, 2026, and quickly became frustrated with the lack of inclusion and the complicated way many attempt to explain the sport. So we decided we could do better. We'll see (we do have raging ADHD). Join us as we break down the rules of the game, the players, and answer your questions about ice hockey in a fun, judgement free zone, where we won't mansplain concepts to you.
The One with Gloves Off Seattle
This week, Bex and Ryan had the pleasure of talking to Patti and Meagan from Gloves Off Seattle.
Patti and Meagan break down the PWHL and the differences between the MNHL and the Women's league, and how inclusive and welcoming the PWHL is. They share their hockey journey with us, and the devastating news of the Hillary Knight (Captain America!) trade.
We had a blast talking with Patti and Meagan and we hope you love them as much as we love them!!!
Don't forget to follow them on Instagram!!
The One with Mark from Hockey Friends
TRIGGER WARNING: this episode contains a lot of heavy topics, including references to child grooming. Please police your own content and if you do not have the mental capacity to learn about the toxic culture that can occur in Hockey (including S.A., illegal acts, etc), feel free to skip this episode. We still love you with all our hearts!
Bex and Ryan got to sit down with Mark from Hockey Friends for this week's episode. Mark breaks down the culture behind hockey, and how the changes need to start with the youth and the head of...

Divisions Explained
This week Ryan breaks down the divisions for the MNHL, and how the PWHL doesn't have divisions yet.
There looks to be a lot, but there's not, we promise. There's 32 teams in the MNHL, and half of them are East or Western Conference. These are the two that are going to be facing off in the Stanley Cup finals. One from the East. One from the West.
The Divisions are broken down into Atlantic, Metropolitan, Central, and Pacific. This is where you'll get the most rivalries between teams. Teams in the Atlantic division play each...
Get In the Time Out Box - Major Penalties
And to finish our explanation of penalties, we round out this episode with Major Penalties, that come with a minimum of a 5 minute time out in the no-no box at the boy aquarium or Women's hockey!
As always, we aren't experts. Please correct us if we're wrong! We're more than happy to correct ourselves!
Hockey Penalties: A Complete Guide to Penalties in Ice HockeyPenalties, Penalties, and more Minor Penalties
Because there's so many penalties in ice hockey, we are separating this into two episodes: minor penalties and major penalties. This week we are tackling minor penalties!
Buckle in, because there's A LOT!
Also - Bex has dyslexia and brain farts. Please forgive the "he picks up his puck" instead of "picks up his STICK". (In my defense: I work 12 hour 3rd shifts and we tend to record in the mornings after work, forgive me HAHAH)
Pride in Hockey!
ANOTHER BONUS EPISODE IN JUNE!?!?!?
That's right, you didn't think the Leftist Podcast run by two nonbinary baddies would skip PRIDE MONTH, did you??
In honor of the anniversary of Stonewall, we have a very special Ryan-centric episode were we talk about Pride in hockey.
Don't forget to thank your black and brown trans bad asses for starting Pride at the Stonewall Riot! ๐๐๐
What is a Hat Trick? - Ryan Was Lied To
This week we are discussing the actual game play of Ice Hockey. From Face Off to Overtime! We are also talking about hat tricks and what they are - and what they aren't. Because a hat trick is NOT three points in a game, it is 3 goals in a game.
Don't always believe what's told to you just because a man told you. As Ryan learned.
