MINDY'S COMEDY ARCHIVES is a visual podcast featuring intimate interviews with the people who have been an instrumental part of the New York comedy community for the past 20 years. In each episode, our guest flips through a chronological stack of photos (starting with their very first "Mindy") using each image to unlock specific memories about their evolution in comedy. Adam enters the archives on January 6, 2011 performing on Lasers in the Jungle at Luca Lounge. You know Adam from his show on TruTV and his podcast "Factually". I found his insights during the strikes helpful and he has a clear eyed view of comedy at the moment.  It's been fun to see the different ways people have entered the archives. Some are in the background, some have been comedians for a decade before I get there, and some are just starting out. Adam enters early in his stand up career on a night that's a smidge of an art o...

Emmy Blotnick enters the archives on December 1, 2011 outside the long since closed Luca Lounge. We sorted through about half her photos and didn't get to more recent days, but we did get to the "Party Nights" cover. And we skipped ahead to chat about her current special, "What's Her Secret".  Emmy will be back for an episode two... our chat was pretty fast-paced but we still only got through one box of photos! In the meantime, follow her on Instagram... as you'll see in the ep, she is on there now... as we all... apparently... have to be... forever.

This week, Jim Gaffigan and I attempt to describe Moonwork's Evening Of Original Works, the early days of Whiplash at UCB, alternative comedy in general. We got started talking about comedy and only made it through 20 of 200 photos so he'll have to visit again!

Brittany enters the archives at the Night Train 5th Anniversary Show on November 6, 2017. Wyatt Cenac added her to the line up before she even moved to NYC! We actually got some culling and decisions made during this one!! We also talked about Live Snakes, a show at The Gutter. In the time since our interview, that show has announced a move to... we're not sure where yet. Follow them for updates. And watch Brittany's YT Special here:

Alison first walks by the archives at Whiplash in 2011 and I photograph her for real in 2013! Call it the comedy pipeline, infrastructure, ladder... whatever it was, it changed significantly from 2011 to today. We get into it in this interview. Alison also wrote about the aftermath of her show, "Oh God, A Show About Abortion". I think it's one of the best documents of this time we're in. She has a book out THIS WEEK. Book release show at the Bell House on July 7. You can hear more of her on the Ruined podcast.

Nore enters the Comedy Archives on November 29, 2009 at The Knitting Factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Nore shows up again in 2013. We see him regularly until Covid. A highlight is the record cover for Too Woke in 2018. In January of 2022, we teamed up on another cover shoot. Watch Nore's most recent special.

Joel enters the Comedy Archives on January 14, 2012 at The Creek and The Cave in Long Island City.  Joel's last photo before our interview for the podcast was in 2016, with an open door exiting the venue, and unknown to us, the archives for quite a while. Shortly after this, Joel gets sober, starts a basketball tournament, and becomes an author. He has a new book coming out on July 14, 2026.  Just because you do comedy for a while doesn't mean you must always and forever do comedy. It was a joy to hear how Joel took some great things from comedy fo...

Joyelle enters the Comedy Archives in 2012 at the long since closed Red Star Bar in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This was a show run by Annie Lederman. I love that we have Annie greeting Joyelle as she walks on stage and into the archives. Joyelle had two boxes of photos and we only got through one. Around the time of her taping, I began to realize that we just may not get through everything in one interview and that's perfectly fine. I've already seen her at a comedy show since we taped this interview. She headlined a show at the St...
