Pixels (2010 & 2015)
For their first new release since moving to the Impala Network, Jamie and Rory are taking a look at Adam Sandler-helmed dud "Pixels", you know, the movie where Kevin James plays the President of the United States, which somehow doesn't feel quite as far fetched these days. The boys are divided on this one which makes for an interesting episode (you can probably guess which one likes the film and which one doesn't). As a special bonus the boys also begin the episode by taking a brief look at the original 2010 short film which inspired the Hollywood adaptation!

eXistenZ (1999)
Today we're talking about this 1990s film from the master of body-horror David Cronenberg. Starring Jude Law and Jennifer Jason Leigh along with appearances from Christopher Ecclestone, Willem Dafoe and Callum Keith-Rennie, this film revolves around a "biological" videogame console that is played by being plugged directly into the spine of the user. As you can probably imagine, things don't go smoothly.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
The record-breaking Super Mario Bros. Movie from 2023 is the first videogame movie to break one billion dollars at the box office! This juggernaut film was initially met with controversy when Chris Pratt was cast as the voice of Mario but this didn't hinder the film when it came time to rake in the big bucks! Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse
The sequel to Paul W.S. Anderson's 2002 Resident Evil movie is based loosely on the 3rd videogame in the franchise and sees Alice (Milla Jovovich) team up with Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) to try and save a young girl from the clutches of the Umbrella Corporation as Raccoon City falls to the zombie outbreak. Things are further complicated however by a relentless pursuer out to stop them at any cost; the Nemesis.

Wreck-It Ralph (2012)
Wreck-It Ralph has often been described as Toy Story for the videogame age and that certainly seems to be an apt description when viewing this 2012 Disney movie. Featuring John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman and Jane Lynch, this takes us into the world of an arcade game villain feeling like he needs something more from his life. Whilst his fellow villains urge him to stay in his lane, Ralph finds himself breaking free of the confines of his game and role and thrust into new and unfamiliar territory.

Joysticks (1983)
An odd entry in the VGMP canon this week; from 1983, Joysticks asks the question "what if Porky's but in an arcade?" This 80s sex comedy features a group of Pac-Man addicts, some hapless nerds who just want to play their games in peace and, of course, parents gripped by a "think about the children" panic.
