Trading with Jesus

It’s Monday, a new trading week is here, and before we look at the charts, Acts chapter 11 gives us a powerful reminder about staying open to God’s direction. Sometimes we can get so attached to our expectations, routines, and way of doing things that we resist the very change God is trying to use for our growth.

It’s Sunday, so before another trading week begins, this is a good time to slow down and make sure our perspective is aligned with Christ. Sometimes the biggest thing God wants to change is not our circumstances, but the way we see them.

It’s Saturday, so today gives us a chance to step away from execution and look a little deeper. We spend a lot of time trying to improve our strategy, refine our entries, and become more consistent in the market. But Acts chapter 9 reminds us that sometimes the biggest transformation God wants to make is not in our system. It is in us.

Before we look at the charts today, Acts chapter 8 gives us a powerful reminder that what feels like disruption is not always destruction. Sometimes God uses the very thing that scattered you to move you into the place where He wants to use you.

Before we look at the charts today, Acts chapter 7 gives us a hard but necessary reminder: sometimes the biggest obstacle to growth is not what is happening around us, but what we refuse to change within us. Stephen stands before the Sanhedrin and walks them through generations of God’s faithfulness, while also exposing a repeated pattern of people resisting what God was trying to do.

Before we get into the charts today, Acts chapter 6 gives us a lesson that applies to far more than church leadership. It teaches us about focus, delegation, service, and protecting what God has actually called us to do. Because sometimes the biggest threat to your purpose is not something bad. Sometimes it is simply too many good things competing for your attention.

Before we look at the charts today, I want us to think about something that matters far more than whether we finish green or red: who are we becoming when nobody else is watching? Acts chapter 5 reminds us that God is not only concerned with what people see on the outside. He cares about the condition of our hearts.

It’s Monday, a fresh trading week is in front of us, and before we think about entries, targets, or what the market might do, Acts chapter 4 gives us something even more important to carry into today: boldness that comes from being with Jesus.

It’s Sunday, which means today is a chance to slow down, reset, and prepare our hearts before another week begins. Before we think about charts, setups, or what we want from the market, Acts chapter 3 gives us a powerful reminder: sometimes we come to God asking for one thing, while He is preparing to give us something far greater.

Acts 2 is where the waiting from Acts 1 turns into movement. In Acts 2:1-4, the disciples are together on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fills the room like a rushing wind and rests on them like tongues of fire. The promise Jesus gave them had arrived.

Today we’re beginning the book of Acts, and Acts 1 starts with something many of us struggle with: waiting. Jesus has risen from the dead. The disciples know He is alive and that He has a mission for them. But in Acts 1:4-5, Jesus tells them not to leave Jerusalem yet. They are to wait for the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit. They had the assignment, but they didn't yet have permission to execute it.

Today we’re closing out the Gospel of Luke with Chapter 24, and there could not be a better way to finish. Jesus is alive.

Luke opens with Jesus and His disciples walking through grainfields on the Sabbath. The Pharisees immediately accused them of breaking the law, but Jesus reminded them of David eating the consecrated bread when he was in need (Luke 6:3–4). He then made a remarkable statement: "The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath" (Luke 6:5).

Today we're camping out in Luke chapter 5, and it answers an important question: Why does Jesus have the authority to forgive sins? Luke begins with Simon Peter after a long night of fishing. He had worked hard but caught nothing. Then Jesus told him, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." Even though it didn't make sense, Peter obeyed.

Today we're camping out in Luke chapter 4, and it answers an important question: Can we really overcome temptation? Luke tells us that after His baptism, Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was led into the wilderness. That's a powerful reminder that walking in God's will doesn't always lead to comfort. Sometimes it leads to testing because God is preparing us for what He's called us to do.

Today we're camping out in Luke chapter 3, and it answers one of the most common questions people ask about Jesus: If Jesus never sinned, why was He baptized? As we walk through this chapter, we're going to discover that Jesus wasn't baptized because He needed repentance. He was baptized to identify with sinners, fulfill the Father's plan, and publicly begin His earthly ministry.

Today we're camping out in Luke chapter 2, and it answers one of the greatest questions ever asked: If Jesus really is the Messiah, what evidence do we have?

Luke explains that he carefully investigated the events surrounding Jesus and relied on eyewitness testimony so his reader could have certainty (Luke 1:1–4). This matters for apologetics because Christianity is not presented as blind faith or mythology. Luke places Jesus within real history and invites us to examine the testimony.

Today we close out our journey through the Book of Proverbs with chapter 31, and I think it's fitting that the book ends by reminding us what true success actually looks like. The world defines success by money, status, influence, and accomplishments. Trading can do the same thing. It's easy to believe that bigger payouts, larger accounts, and financial freedom are the ultimate goals. But Proverbs 31 reminds us that God's definition of success is very different. In God's Kingdom, success is measured by faithfulness.

Today I want to spend some time in the Book of Proverbs chapter 30 because I believe this chapter teaches one of the most important lessons a trader can ever learn: the moment we think we have it all figured out is often the moment we become the most vulnerable.

It’s Monday, a brand new trading week, and before the charts start moving and the emotions of the market begin testing us again, I want to spend some time in the Book of Proverbs chapter 29. I believe this chapter speaks directly to two of the biggest enemies every trader faces: fear and pride. If we're being honest, most bad trading decisions can usually be traced back to one of those two things.

Today I want to spend some time in the Book of Proverbs chapter 28 because this chapter reminds us that our greatest edge in trading isn't our strategy, our indicators, or our ability to read the market. Our greatest edge is integrity before God.

Today I want to spend some time in the Book of Proverbs chapter 27 because this chapter reminds us that lasting success isn't built by chasing the next big thing. It's built by being faithful with what God has already placed in front of us.
