Eerily Beloved
Eerily Beloved, we are gathered here to explore the backdrop that gave us the iconic imagery of Twilight and the X-Files that some twisted few exploit for darker narratives. Each week, join host Madeline, and a rotating door of guests, as they dive into creepy cryptids, sasquatch sightings, paranormal places, and true crime cases that make the pacific northwest region, and its beautifully vast landscape, infamous.
Polybius: The Most Dangerous Arcade Game
In the fall of 1981, a mysterious arcade game appeared in Portland, Oregon, captivating teens with its unmarked black cabinet and strange gameplay. The allure of the game called Polybius grew as word spread about its effects. Players reported nausea, nightmares, seizures, and worse. Just as quickly as it appeared, the game vanished... or in theory it would have, but Polybius never actually existed. Was it a Mandela effect, a test cabinet, a hoax, or something darker?

The Bothell Hell House
Is the Bothell Hell House the most documented poltergeist case in history or an elaborate hoax?
In 2012, Keith Linder and his girlfriend Tina moved into a rental in Bothell, WA. From day one the couple experienced paranormal activity that over the course of four years escalated into what they claim was a full blown poltergeist infestation. When outsiders are called in to investigate, the evidence doesn't match up to the dramatic and life threatening behavior that Keith described had been happening for years leading everyone to wonder if he's an unreliable narrator.

The Happy Face Killer pt.2
Content note: This episode discusses murder and sexual violence.
This is the final part covering the Happy Face Killer. After The Oregonian received a letter that confessed to killing 5 women in 1994, including the murder of a woman two were serving time for, investigators were scrambling. Was this simply a hoax? or did they wrongfully convict two people for a murder they didn't commit? When another woman is murdered, a name that police are familiar with comes back on their radar, and suddenly, all the pieces fall into place...at least that's what they think.
The Happy Face Killer pt.1
Content note: This episode discusses murder and sexual violence.
When a woman's body was found in the Columbia River Gorge, followed by an anonymous phone call leading to a suspect, and then finally a confession, police assumed this would be an open shut case. This was completely derailed when literal writing on the wall said the two people they were working to convict were innocent, and the killer still roamed free. When the author was ignored, he proceeded to send letters to the press, a large happy face at the top. The contents of the...

September is spooky lake month! Every week this month we'll be covering a different lake and the mysteries that surround them.
This episode was too good not to include in our spooky lake segment, so this week we're revisiting episode 10. Hallie Illingworth vanished in 1937. Her husband said she ran off with another man. Three years later, her body surfaced in Lake Crescent, Washington, perfectly preserved by a bizarre and incredibly rare chemical reaction that turned her body into soap.

September is spooky lake month! Every week this month we'll be covering a different lake and the mysteries that surround them.

What followed was one of Oregon's oldest unsolved murder cases. This week we dig into: the missing fox pelts, the bloody sled that turned out to be a red herring, the manhunt for an escaped convict, and the questions that, a century later, still don't have answers.

What Happened to Misty Copsey?

Mystery of the Eastern Oregon Cattle Mutilations
In 1967, a three-year-old horse named Snippy was found stripped to the bone with no blood, no tracks, and no explanation, kicking off decades of unexplained livestock mutilations across the American West. By the 1970s, ranchers in Eastern Oregon were finding cows in similar manners: reproductive organs removed, tongues gone, no blood at the scene, and scavengers mysteriously avoiding the bodies.
In this episode we dig into the history of cattle mutilation reports, the FBI investigation that went nowhere, and the modern-day cases from 2019–2022 that reignited the mystery and became the subject of an Unsolved Mysteries episode. Aliens, sa...
