I have nightmares every single night
Every night I wake up at 4:48 on the dot.
I try to go back to sleep, but I can’t. I’m drenched in cold sweat. My heartbeat is loud in my ears. It’s fast and arrhythmic. I can’t get out of bed. I can’t “walk it off.” It won’t be light outside for many hours. And my legs are shaking.
I’m aware this is maybe not the best way to begin a conversation, but we don’t have time.
What I hold in my hand right here is a bottle of the s...
I fell in love with my 49 year old neighbor.
Happy Saturday :)
Here’s the latest short story.
18 year old Jeremy has a thing for older women. That becomes clear when he falls in love with his neighbor. You’ve heard of “the girl next door.”
This is about the girl next door’s Mom.
Strap in.
You can watch it on YouTube or Spotify if you prefer.
And here’s a link to get the book, the podcast, and everything else I do.
Now, let’s get into the weirdest love story you’ve heard this week...
I have not left my house in 6 years (short story)
The latest short story.
Video included if you want to watch or listen while you read.
Hope you enjoy :)
Interior Life
I have not stepped foot outside my home in 6 years, 3 months, and 17 days.
Nothing’s wrong with me. Look at me. I’m a normal guy.
I am not plagued by strange and bizarre ailments. Just the opposite, actually.
I’m in the best shape of my life. Physical, mental, spiritual. I’ve read more books than you can name, probably, and retained every word of...
Fragments of a Total Loser's Telephone Conversations
A story told through a series of uncomfortable phone conversations.
To read the full written story, there's a PDF you can download at the bottom of this post.
Hope you enjoy :)
American Insomniac (short story)
I have not slept in three and a half weeks.
That’s 25 days and 25 nights. 600 hours, almost.
Maybe it’s been longer than that.
I don’t know.
What I do know is I am well past the current world record. No need to congratulate me. I am approaching the upper limit of sleeplessness the human mind can handle before it expires.
Expires, as in: dies.
I’ve got just under an hour til the lights flicker off one by one, frontal lobe to brain stem.
59 min...
The Boy Who Lives In The Basement
When I was a kid in school there was a boy I knew who disappeared off the face of the earth and to this day no one knows where he went.
He was the only child of the Leavitt family. They used to live in this town. Before you moved here. The kid’s name was Eric. We weren’t good friends but we’d said hello a couple times.
He didn’t disappear the way you think of people disappearing.
He wasn’t kidnapped or stolen or killed. He didn’t run away in the...
Confessions of a Pyromaniac
It started when I was a kid.
I stole matches from the kitchen junk drawer. Birthday candles. Anything with a fuse. I gathered bundles of dry twigs from the yard and kept them in a locked toy chest under my bed. I stood on my tippy toes to take the kitchen lighter from its place in the world. Just to hold it in my hands for a minute. My parents told me cut it out, quit it, and I did for a while. I used to hate getting in trouble.
But you can adapt to...
The Vicious Cycle of Self Improvement and Self Destruction
The cycle of self improvement and self destruction has kept me trapped for years. I'm only now learning to let go of the strict, black and white duality of "locking in," and "falling off," in pursuit of a more sustainable personal narrative that keeps me connected to meaningful activities consistently. I hope you find this helpful.
