In this extremely spooky Halloween episode, Jeff and Jay dig into the nuanced attention to detail that separates a passable MacGruber costume from an exemplary one. We also hypothesize that Taylor Swift stole the general concept for the song Anti-Hero from Vicki St. Elmo. And we continue our three-part discussion on the first episode of the eight-episode Peacock streaming series MacGruber.

Jay bravely shares the story of how Jeff betrayed him around the release of the 2021 Peacock streaming series, MacGruber. It’s a story of courage and resilience that will move and inspire you. Additionally, we start our discussion of the EXCELLENT first episode, and talk about penis size in the current popular culture.

Visionary. Oracle. Revolutionary. These are just some of the words that describe our guest on this week’s episode of Rippin’ Throats. Erik Henriksen was the film critic at The Portland Mercury when MacGruber debuted in 2010 — and was one of a select few critics with the discernment and judgment to hear the film’s message and spread word of its wonders to a wider audience. Even as other critics pilloried the film as it failed at the box office, Erik stood by his convictions and continued to advocate for MacGruber, carrying a light in the darkness. We’re legit honored to...

As Jay and Jeff ready themselves and their audience for the long, challenging, and immensely rewarding journey of discussing the 2021 Peacock streaming series MacGruber, they spend some time analyzing an “exclusive jailhouse interview” with MacGruber that was released ahead of the series’ debut. It’s pretty great. But the real reason you should listen to this episode is the debut of a new Sax Dragons (featuring Rippin' Scrotes) song called “We Hang Together,” which pays tribute to all the penises across the globe. No matter your shape or size, we salute you, penises!

Uncomfortable as it may be, Jeff and Jay reflect on the dark decade between the MacGruber movie’s failure at the box office and the miraculous announcement that a MacGruber TV series would be coming to Peacock. Also, we correct a terrible error and give an A+ throat rip from recent popular culture it’s due.

Patiently endure our discussion of the second-most-desirable Miata ever produced, the man with the world’s largest penis, and relying on the morning after pill as your only form of birth control before we eventually get around to completing our examination of Rambo: First Blood Part II, which is effing nuts and is definitely a huge influence on MacGruber.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. That’s the motivating factor behind our decision to bring Brandon from BC Delorean on to Rippin’ Throats to talk about how he — and not your favorite podcast co-hosts — came to own MacGruber’s Miata. Join us as Brandon introduces us to some of the finer points of Blaupunkt shopping; a difficult decision about keeping some white shoe polish on the car’s exterior; and how the Miata isn’t the first famous SNL-affiliated movie car he came to possess. (He owns Garth’s Mirthmobile from Wayne’s World (!!!!))

Coyote vs. Acme, the half-animated film that Warner Brothers DIDN’T want you to see, swept across the nation’s theaters last week. And we’re duty-bound to help you understand the myriad of ways in which Coyote vs. Acme inherited more from MacGruber than a lead actor (Will Forte). Patiently wait through our discussion of the appearance of a Miata in a 2012 psychological thriller, the one instance in which “go to a glory hole” is solid advice, and a deeply challenging word game involving vaginas and you’ll be rewarded with some great insights about Coyote vs. Acme!

"Do we get to win this time?"

In the first Rippin' Throats episode recorded from Jeff's new apartment at The Residences at the Reserve at Dave & Buster's Village, the guys delve into the seminal 1985 action classic "Rambo: First Blood Part II," in which the titular character declines to heed the request of his mentor to avoid "the whole blood and guts routine."

We also get excited for the new Will Forte movie "Coyote vs. Acme."

How does it feel to have your throat ripped out? Who directed the 1990 movie Ghost? Is Val Kilmer's trailer on set nice and clean, or smeared with feces? What's it like to watch Will Forte hump in person?

Get the answers to these questions and more in this week's interview with Jason Trost, actor/writer/director/throat rip victim.

Honestly, I’m not sure how we did it, but somehow a solid two-thirds of this episode about how the 1983 Gene Hackman film Uncommon Valor influenced MacGruber is about penises and vaginas. If you can make it through all genitalia stuff, though, you’ll be treated to a revealing exploration of how this INTENSE post Vietnam film served as a direct inspiration for many of the best scenes in MacGruber. Also we answer a sex problem question from an absolute prima donna.

“Friend: There is no failure. Only a result.” This Latin American folk saying offers immense comfort to Jeff and Jay as they review the progress toward their stated goals for the podcast after 20+ episodes.

Do they own the Miata? Absolutely not. Looking pretty unlikely that it’ll happen anytime soon, frankly.

Is Will Forte coming on the podcast? Not in the near to mid future, at least.

Has a new MacGruber movie or series been announced? Ha! Absolutely not.

In their episode 20 spectacular, the Rippin’ Throats family welcomes a new brood of Sax Dragons, replenishing at long last the depleted saxophone-forward house band. We also discuss an ill-fated attempt to invite Will Forte onto the podcast, in the process discovering that Jeff is a medical miracle of sorts. And we “round the horn” in our discussion of MacGruber’s sexuality, losing ourselves in the musky, damp, verdant, life-giving moment.

Like an onion, peeling back one layer of MacGruber’s sexuality only reveals more and more layers to be contended with. As their examination of the intense sexual imagery in the 2021 Peacock series MacGruber continues, Jeff and Jay celebrate penis-size positivity up and down the spectrum and also discuss the pure erotic bliss of visualizing swimming sessions at the local YMCA. (And don’t worry: We have a bunch more episodes about MacGruber’s sexuality coming soon!)

“I like things in my butt”: The first words out of MacGruber’s mouth in the 2021 Peacock series “MacGruber” seem straightforward enough, but upon closer inspection, MacGruber scholars Jeff and Jay unpack how this simple, declarative sentence is a not only a true declaration of sexual independence but also a symbol of genuine personal growth and development. Also we tell a guy from Michigan that it’s okay to like things in his butt, too.

Renowned MacGruber scholars Jeff and Jay continue the thorny process of dissecting MacGruber’s sexuality as depicted in the 2010 Relativity Media production, “MacGruber.” Also we talk about buckets full of semen and shooting ping pong balls out of butts.

For months, Jeff and Jay have been suggestively caressing their throats, just waiting for the chance to get their claws in the podcast’s titular topic. And finally, that day has arrived. In this very special episode of Rippin’ Throats, the guys explore the throat rip’s cinematic origins (especially as it relates to the 1989 movie Road House) and its pivotal role in MacGruber, as well as how one might go about actually ripping out another human’s throat. (It’s certainly not easy, but with the right attitude and very sharp nails, it just might be doable.)

This week, we meet perhaps the world's biggest MacGruber fan, tally data from our wildly popular four-part watchalong, anticipate the arrival of Detective Harry Hole, and try to remain neutral as Operation Epic Fire consumes the second and third floors of our office. Why is Jeremy Piven eating so much tuna? Will the translucent tarp protect the staff? Why exactly are we doing this podcast? How many people can Adelphia Restaurant accommodate for a private event? And perhaps most important, what's the perfect amount of saxophone?
