Season 2, Episode 10: “Knocked Up, Who’s There?”

This week, Secret Life briefly remembers it is allegedly a show about teen pregnancy — but don’t worry, there’s still plenty of masturbation, church-based sexual tension and Amy behaving like she personally invented motherhood.

We open with Ben being approached by New Pregnant Girl (NPG aka: Heather), a new pregnant girl who has apparently studied his résumé and concluded...

Honestly, with an episode title like, "HOT NUTS". I was expecting some hot nuts -- not Jack's sad nuts :(

Sadly Sarah is ill on this episode, so it's just Ashley and Rob recapping the gloriousness.

This week, everyone in Grant High is either stalking someone, accusing someone of having sex, trying to buy a house to improve their stalking capabilities, or discussing the romantic future of Molly Ringwald like she’s a distressed property.

George and Skipper kick things off by squaring off over Molly Ringwald’s pregnancy. George wants his family back; Skipper insists he can still live happily ever after with Anne, despite apparently never bonding with either of her daughters. Truly irresistible stuff.

Meanwhile, Adrian has decided George’s house would be the PERFECT family home, primarily becaus...

Just like in real life, summer is OVAH. So our fabulous peeps return from summer vacation and some more scenes in the hallway ensure.

I ended up getting free tickets for the Katseye concert so I couldn't write out the recap.

The episode opens with Amy in the kitchen practicing Italian, because despite the increasingly obvious problem of who exactly is going to take care of her infant for a month, she remains committed to this European vacation.

Ashley walks in and casually announces that Molly Ringwald and Skipper are engaged. Amy is stunned, and when Molly Ringwald appears, she immediately confronts her. Molly clarifies that Skipper proposed, but she hasn’t actually said yes yet because apparently even she realizes that accepting a marriage proposal immediately after being accused of lying about her baby’s paternity and gold...

The episode opens with Amy and Anne exhausted in the kitchen after baby John has apparently decided that sleep is for people without consequences.

Meanwhile, Ben apologizes to his dad for yelling at him and is rewarded not only with his job back at the butcher shop, but with the news that he can spend the summer working in Italy. Grace has locked herself in her room, convinced that having sex somehow caused a plane crash, because this show will never miss an opportunity to crank purity culture up to eleven.

At the Juergens house, it’s business as usual: Anne is serving divorced woman in a power blazer, George is pretending the divorce is just a fun misunderstanding, Amy is passionately unemployed (she has a sausage empire as a dowry), and Ashley has once again vanished without anyone sounding the alarm.

Meanwhile, Amy is busy crying over Ben to—of all people—George, who briefly stops antagonizing Anne long enough to cosplay as an emotionally available father. Anne’s mysteriously dressed up for what everyone assumes is a job interview...

Adrian is shocked and calls her own father (Sexy Bald, the DA) on the phone, demanding that he put Ricky's dad back in prison. But Ruben can't, unless needs to catch Bob doing...

We finally meet the mega creep: Ricky's dad, AKA: Bob Underwood. He scares even Amy and Ashley just by walking up the driveway and asking if Amy is Ricky's baby momma.

Bob starts to make the rounds. He goes from the Juergens', where he gets George's attention by offering financial help with the baby, to the baseball practice...

Amy and Ben’s shotgun wedding lasts approximately one (1) chaotic reception before every adult in a 10-mile radius storms in to shut it down. Leo and George burst in like it’s a police raid, dragging the newlyweds back to reality—and, unfortunately for Amy, the marriage isn’t even legally valid. Nothing says romance like forged documents and immediate annulment vibes.

Meanwhile, Adrian’s dad Ruben is on a full rage tour, furious that she skipped dinner and somehow even more furious about the fake ID ring—because yes, in this universe, every teen is either pregnant, ch...

Anne decides that because Amy is basically glowing and responsible now, it’s time to hand her even more adult duties — you know, as one does when their teen daughter is nine months pregnant. Meanwhile, Anne discovers George is planning to move into the garage like a disgraced raccoon husband, and the two have a blowout that screams “we should’ve divorced three seasons ago." Honestly... if only...

Amy’s allegedly about to run away to Grandma Mimsy’s Retirement Home for Wayward Pregnant Teens™, and Ben is spiraling. He’s begging her to stay, but Amy’s already mentally packed her flip phone and floral tops and business casual wardrobe.

Meanwhile, literally no one is in class -- not even in the bespoke hallways (this means, god bless, that every scene is in the Jeugrens household). Ben skips to visit his mom’s grave, Leo is like, "She's dead lol you're talking to no one, loser" and then later workshops his NiceGuy™ Boyfriend feelings.

Guess what guys? Amy finally drops the news: she's pregnant!

Of course in this show, we need to see how every character makes her pregnancy about themselves somehow.

While Anne tries to figure out what she should do, in between contemplating George being allowed back in the house or not after his vacation to Adrian mom's house for a "conference", Amy takes matters into her own hands. It's time to go to the clinic.

BUT before she can go through with anything, Grace wields Jesus as a weapon to barge through the clinic...

Ben really woke up and chose “marriage as a coping mechanism.” What starts as a cute little picnic (plate of wings on a bench?) quickly turns into a teenage proposal scene straight out of an after-school special— except it's more dramatic than Degrassi (how?!), we get Amy sobbing through a full-blown confession: yes, she slept with Ricky, yes, she’s pregnant, yes, her fashion still gives 2008 Ashley Tisdale a run for her boas.

Plot twist? Ben already knew. Of course he did. Ben's dad and California's premiere Long Island Italian, told him. Now Amy’s wrestling with the super ch...

Grace may be the town’s resident angel, but tonight she’s trading in her halo for a beer bottle and a front-page scandal. After another not-so-holy meetup with Jack, she fends off two creeps with some impressive “don’t-mess-with-me” energy—just in time for Ricky (shirtless, obviously) to swoop in. Unfortunately for them both, the local news captures the entire thing, broadcasting “Grace and the Half-Naked Hero” straight into every living room in town. Instant fame. Zero chill.

While the Bowmans spiral about how to ground their daughter and save face, the Juergens are having their own domestic disas...

Amy’s glow-up is actually a baby bump, but everyone’s pretending not to notice—except, of course, the entire town, thanks to Lauren and Madison’s Olympic-level gossip relay. Meanwhile, Anne’s still wandering through life in blissful denial, getting pregnancy hints at gas stations from random doctors like it’s divine intervention.

Ben’s obsessing over the perfect first kiss, Ricky’s suddenly doing community service for his soul by “fake dating” Grace, and Adrian’s out here playing it cool while dying inside. The fair rolls into town, and somehow everyone’s coupled up like it’s Noa...

Again, we are reviewing this show. Why? Why!

Ben and Amy are playing high school soulmates after one youth group party hookup, Ricky’s still orbiting with his “surprise baby” claim, and Adrian is the eternal backup plan pretending she doesn’t care.

Jack’s groveling to Grace after getting down with the only FABULOUS character (Adrian) in front of literally everyone, but Grace forgives him because she’s a good Christian woman. #GodBless.
