Every Minute of Everything Everywhere All At Once
Lester and Kynan attempt to explain, evaluate, enlighten and elucidate the Academy Award-winning film, Everything Everywhere All At Once, minute by multiversal minute! Now, you may only see a couple of chuckleheads trying to talk about a movie and getting distracted by all the cool references and easter eggs…but we see a story! Follow us through the multiverse as we explore each individual minute of this amazing film!
Minute 112 - We Put Cold, Unlovable B**ches Like Us On A Bagel!
Waymond calls out across the chaos — Evelyn, please, no more — and she lets go of Deirdre's throat. The script said "no more fighting." The film cuts the last word, and it changes everything: he's not asking her to stop swinging, he's asking her to stop being the kind of person who would. Jobu, already walking away, stops and turns back to watch, visibly furious that her mother might be learning something. She raises a foot over Evelyn's face, moves it aside at the last second, and steps over her toward the stairs. Deirdre detaches the blade from an industrial paper cutt...
Minute 111 - We Put A SURPRISE BAGEL On A Bagel!
Jobu grabs Evelyn's hands and pries them apart in a slow, playground-style gesture — not the hand vagina from the hallway, something new — and the gap between their fingers becomes a window. Through it we see Temple Jobu's eyes, serene and goddess-like, perfectly aligned with the hurt, human Jobu standing right in front of Evelyn. The window rises past her bagel hair bun and then higher, revealing the actual bagel, now here, in the atrium. Everything starts getting pulled in. Two of Jobu's own acolytes go first. Then Daniel Kwan, in a cameo that ends with his face tearing off to reve...
Minute 110 - We Put Hair That Spells Your Name On A Bagel!
Evelyn and Waymond are still holding each other, lit by the colors of infinite worlds, laughing like two people who can't believe they found each other. Then the lights fade, the music quiets, her fist unclenches — and a long, stretched-out, echoing voice comes through from somewhere else: ooooooh. It's Jobu, finishing the word "cute," in a brand new outfit covered in neon, teddy bear sleeves, and a single strand of hair curled on her forehead spelling out her name. She pulls Evelyn into the temple, points at the bagel, says come on. Evelyn walks out of frame — and reappears in the...
Minute 109 - We Put Laundry And Taxes On A Bagel!
We made it to the line. Foxy Waymond finishes it — in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you — laughs a small rueful laugh, and walks out of the alley and out of the movie for good. And then the film does something you don't expect: instead of cutting to Cinderella Evelyn's reaction, it cuts to our Evelyn, in the atrium, receiving that speech while looking at a completely different Waymond sweeping up broken glass in a laundromat. She crosses the room and hugs him. He drops the dustpan. We spend a good chunk of t...
Minute 108 - We Put A Shave And A Haircut On A Bagel!
Evelyn says "It's too late, Waymond." And then, after a long pause, reaches out and takes his hand. That single touch opens everything: the two of them as newlyweds with their hands stacked on the couch, Waymond turning from the TV to ask if she saw that (she didn't, she was looking at him), tearing the newspaper off the windows of a brand new laundromat, twirling in their apartment, finding the remote under the couch and being genuinely delighted about it. He taps a service bell in a shave-and-a-haircut rhythm and asks what song it is. Then green light creeps...
Minute 107 - We Put The Last Temptation Of Evelyn On A Bagel!
Atrium Waymond finally finds the words — the only thing I do know is that we have to be kind — and then turns and aims it directly at his wife: please be kind, especially when we don't know what's going on. In the Hong Kong alley, Foxy Waymond tells Evelyn he knows she sees herself as a fighter. So does he. This is how he fights. The music swells. Evelyn is waking up. And then Jobu's voice cuts through with one word — bagel — and the whole thing stops dead. Alpha Gong Gong orders the attack. Jobu steps forward, completely earnest, and tells he...
Minute 106 - We Put A Plea For Peace On A Bagel!
Two Waymonds. Two speeches. At the same time. In the Alpha Verse, a stabbed Waymond stands between Evelyn and a dozen armed jumpers — one of whom is holding an office desk phone as a weapon — asking if they can just stop fighting, and admitting that he doesn't know what's going on but somehow feels like it's all his fault. In a green Hong Kong alley, Foxy Waymond tells Evelyn that choosing to see the good side of things isn't naive. It's strategic. It's necessary. It's how he's learned to survive through everything. Here's the realization that reframes this whole stretch of t...
Minute 105 - We Put Being Too Sweet On A Bagel!
Deirdre pauses at the door on her way out, shares a look with Evelyn, and staggers off looking like someone dropped a bomb on her. Waymond, still kneeling in front of his handcuffed wife, tells her he doesn't know how he did it — he just talked to Deirdre — and he is openly, unmistakably crying while trying to look like he isn't. Then he stands up, picks up a broom, and sweeps the broken glass while quietly singing a Chinese New Year song. Meanwhile, in a green-lit Hong Kong alley, Foxy Waymond says Evelyn's father used to call him too sweet for...
Minute 104 - We Put Nothing Special On A Bagel!
Jobu is outside the laundromat window with a cigarette, grinning, telling Evelyn to come back to the bagel — and then to ignore it. But Evelyn can't stop watching Waymond whisper something into Deirdre's ear. We're too far away to hear it. We just watch Jamie Lee Curtis take it in with her whole body: straightening up, clutching the eviction papers, breathing out, and then telling the cop to let Evelyn go before slumping hard against the washers like the fight has left her. Waymond walks over with his hands going into his pockets — somehow both aw-shucks-it's-just-me and John Wayne after savi...
Minute 103 - We Put A Hard Time On A Bagel!
Jobu rises out of the rock universe and back into the Bagel Temple, and finally says the thing the whole movie has been building toward: she didn't build the bagel to destroy everything. She built it to destroy herself — to see if going in meant she could finally escape and actually die. She holds out her hand, Evelyn takes it, and Jobu says at least this way she doesn't have to do it alone. Then static cuts in, and Evelyn wakes up handcuffed in the laundromat while Deirdre tells Waymond that everyone she knows is going through a hard time.Th...
Minute 102 - We Put A Big F**king JOKE On A Bagel!
Two rocks on a clifftop, still no voices, still just text. Joy says every new discovery is a reminder — and Evelyn finishes it: we're all small and stupid. Then Joy wonders what discovery is coming next to make us feel like even smaller pieces of shit, and Evelyn responds with a single word: language. In a theater where you could hear a pin drop, that gets the first laugh in what feels like ten minutes. Then Joy stares at her, and Evelyn clarifies: I'm joking, that was a joke. They laugh in text — ha ha ha, white and black, filling a wi...
Minute 101 - We Put A Couple Of Rocks On A Bagel!
Two rocks. One clifftop. No music, no voices, no movement — just white and black text appearing over them in a universe where life never formed. Joy tells Evelyn that most universes are like this, actually. Evelyn says it's nice. Then Joy starts talking about how we spent most of our history certain the Earth was the center of everything, torturing and killing people who said otherwise, until we found out we orbit one sun out of trillions. After the montage of sixty-nine universes nearly broke us last week, this minute is the movie building in its own intermission — and we are...
Minute 100 - We Put The Ultimate Montage On A Bagel!
Thirty-eight seconds. Sixty-nine universes. Everything everywhere all at once. This is the montage. Evelyn screams and it ripples outward through the bubble map like a red nebula infecting every universe at once. We see her as a cat news anchor, an anime figure on a city crosswalk with her hair in the wind, a nun with a skull, a baby, a drag queen, a prisoner with a "Brew Crew" tattoo under her eye, a bunch of grapes, a tree, a Tinder profile that removes the like button halfway through, and a drone strike that may or may not have her...
Minute 99 - We Put A Crash Out On A Bagel!
Foxy Waymond pushes Evelyn away, and the all-is-lost montage begins. Raccaccoonie is taken away in an animal control cage, hands fixed to the bars, as Chad screams and strains against the coworkers holding him back. Deirdre hands Evelyn the eviction papers. Evelyn picks up the googly-eyed bat, says "I've always hated this place," and smashes the laundromat window. Opera Evelyn screams with her whole body until she has to crouch to finish it. Hot dog Deirdre cries alone in her apartment. And Jobu's voice threads through all of it: just a lifetime of fractured moments, contradictions, and confusion. Only a...
Minute 98 - We Put A Knife To The Heart On A Bagel!
Evelyn pulls Waymond close at the party while Deirdre's forty-eight hour eviction notice fades in and out of the background. Across universes at the same time: she rips the hat off Chad at the teppanyaki table to reveal Raccacoonie, slams Foxy Waymond against the alley wall and kisses him, throws a handful of elbow macaroni in his face, stabs Atrium Waymond with a shard of broken glass and pulls it out slowly with cold fascination, pushes the divorce papers into Party Waymond's chest, and in the hot dog universe, Deirdre hops away out the door on one foot with her...
Minute 97 - We Put A Party Crasher On A Bagel!
Foxy Waymond gently pushes Evelyn's hands back down and says, if you don't mean it, please don't give me any false hope. Evelyn's laughter bleeds in from across the universe before we even cut. At Gong Gong's party, she grabs the karaoke mic, shouts Happy New Year, signs the divorce papers in front of everyone, tells Waymond no more running, and then Deirdre walks in with two cops to announce the seizure of their personal and business assets. Evelyn smiles with her fingers tented like Mr. Burns. We go shot by shot through the party: Waymond pulling off the lion-or-dragon...
Minute 96 - We Put False Hope On A Bagel!
Foxy Waymond asks what if you had come with me all those years ago — and then we're at the New Year's party in full swing. Evelyn comes back to life in the Alpha Verse, stares at her hands, and the music rises with what sounds exactly like a hero's reawakening. Then she picks up the phone, tells Deirdre to shut up, tells her nothing matters, and her eyes fill with black. We end in the green-lit alleyway outside the Hong Kong theater, with Evelyn advancing on Waymond saying they'd have woken up every day in a tiny apartment. We spend ti...
Minute 95 - We Put Gong Gong's Party On A Bagel!
The bagel pulses, and every version of Evelyn feels it at once. We watch them in rapid succession staring directly into the camera — from the IRS, from Hong Kong, from a robotics factory with a red eye, from a winter street where she appears to be the cold itself, from a scene near the end of the film with blood in her mouth looking genuinely monstrous — before landing at Gong Gong's party, where red envelopes are being handed out, the Chinese New Year decorations are finally up, and Debbie the Dog Mom has somehow actually shown up. Then Jobu's voice come...
Minute 94 - We Put The Sanctum Sanctorum On A Bagel!
Jobu finishes telling Evelyn that right is a tiny box invented by people who are afraid, and the film cuts to a memory: Joy introducing Becky to Gong Gong, the same scene from the start of the movie, except Evelyn's face looks different this time, softer, more apologetic. Back in the temple, Evelyn insists she still knows who she is, that her life was happy. Jobu, instead of looking triumphant, looks almost sad. Then two acolytes tear the curtains down (not pull, tear) and reveal the bagel, still bagel-sized, somehow filling the entire frame anyway, pulsing hard enough to crack...
Minute 93 - We Put The Bagel Temple On A Bagel!
Evelyn is marched the length of the Bagel Temple, a real downtown Los Angeles building that used to be a working Catholic cathedral, past rows of white-robed acolytes including one very recognizable face standing just behind her shoulder the whole time. Jobu hands her a Dr. Seuss-style picture book titled, in a nice bit of self-reference, Everything Everywhere All at Once, with the line "I am your daughter, your daughter is me" written in cheerful rhyme. Evelyn flashes back to a tense, unfinished moment in the Winnebago, and Jobu closes things out with a line that sounds wise enough to...
Minute 92 - We Put The Crack On A Bagel!
Evelyn asks Jobu a real question — not an accusation dressed as a question, but an actual "why" with no predetermined answer waiting — and Jobu responds by inviting her to sit on the crack of the couch. They fall through. They land in the Alpha Winnebago, where Evelyn is a talking urn coughing on her own ashes, a retired Alpha Waymond is doing the crossword, and the big revelation is this: the Alpha Verse wasn't destroyed by Jobu. It was destroyed by verse jumping itself — by everyone finding whatever version of truth they wanted and then just fighting about it forever. The Da...
Minute 91 - We Put Happiness On A Bagel!
Everything in This MinuteIn minute 91 of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Jobu tells Evelyn "you're like me" and invites a punch — which Evelyn throws, badly — triggering a strobe-lit freeze and a rapid montage of mother-daughter interactions: braiding hair, strangling each other, playing chess, riding a tandem bicycle, and doing something that might be Thriller. They both end up holding their noses, Waymond wanders in, and Jobu announces she just fell on the couch. This Episode All at OnceWe spend a lot of time in this room, and that is correct. The Wong family living space — the mirror from the film's very f...
Minute 90 - We Put Piñatas On A Bagel!
Jobu is in the building — and she's smiling with a smile that is definitely not Joy's. From the laundromat, she drags Evelyn through a bamboo forest Wuxia standoff, a black-and-white prison corridor, a fully animated crayon universe where a stab wound erupts in candy, and finally a park where piñata versions of both of them hang from a tree until a blindfolded kid ends the minute. The funniest concrete beat: the bamboo branch Jobu tears from a tree transforms through roughly thirty objects — a tiny shark, a Minecraft torch, a novelty lollipop, a number one foam finger, and what appea...
Minute 89 - We Put EVERYWHERE On A Bagel!
Part Two of Everything Everywhere All at Once begins here, and it sneaks up on you. Evelyn sits at her dining room table, holds up that receipt with the big black circle, and splits the screen cleanly in two — placing it in both piles at once. Warm piano kicks in, title cards appear, and then a buzzer cuts everything off: the Chinese choir has arrived, and right behind them is Joy.Before we get there, we finally deliver on last episode's promise and cover the Spaghetti Baby Noodle Boy deleted scene in full. An elbow macaroni rises through a boiling pa...
Minute 88 - We Put Moquette On A Bagel!
Hot Dog Deirdre is alone in the frame, back to the camera, crumpling to her knees as Evelyn makes her escape — and she doesn't even get her own shot for it. Then we're in a rain-soaked Hong Kong alley where Foxy Waymond catches a stumbling, multiverse-fried Evelyn and drapes his coat over her while she murmurs about her clay pot leaking. She pinches her temples like a bargain-bin psychic, ricochets through a rapid montage of universes (a courtroom, a bus with a very animated Borat lookalike, a fisheye outdoor shot), and lands back at the laundromat table, sweating, triumphant: "I di...
Minute 87 - We Put Randy Newman On A Bagel!
Everything in This MinuteIn minute 87 of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Opera Evelyn collapses onstage and Gong Gong rushes to help, calling her name in Cantonese. She gets up on her own and pushes past him, exiting stage left. We get a final shot from behind the ornamental archway—a clear circle—with Evelyn leaving the circle and leaving Gong Gong alone on stage. We follow Evelyn into the Teppanyaki kitchen where she's now Teppanyaki Evelyn. As she emerges through the partition, she looks at her uniform and her eyes catch something. Before we even see who she's looking at, we h...
Minute 86 - We Put THE END??? On A Bagel!
In minute 86 of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Jobu finishes singing "somewhere out there in all that noise." Waymond shakes Evelyn calling for help as the camera pulls up and away. Title card: "THE END." It fades. Next card: "written and directed by Daniels." Then "produced by Alexander Wong, Evelyn Quan." Cards retreat—no, WE'RE retreating from a movie screen. We see the theater audience. Two more cards: "Starring" then "Evelyn Quan." Cut to Wong Kar Wai Evelyn waking in her seat—she IS Evelyn Kwan (her maiden name, unmarried to Waymond here). She checks herself, can't believe she's alive. Ever...
Minute 85 - We Put ANOTHER Death Scene On A Bagel!
Jobu appears slow-clapping villain-style saying "how impressive" in fluent Mandarin (unlike Joy's broken Chinese). New punk magical-girl outfit: ghost buns, goth makeup, candy hearts, fluffy black leather, spiked collar, giant laser gun as cane. Evelyn declares "I'm reaching my full potential" in terrible boxing stance (fingers wrong, totally disconnected from kung fu). Screen cracks showing distressed Evelyns (Pizza, Opera, Cleaning Lady, Teppanyaki, Wong Kar Wai). Machinery strains, music stops, Evelyn vomits. Collapses. Jobu moves in: "damn it...so close." Overhead death-confirmation shot. Jobu closes her eyes, tells Waymond "I'll see you again soon," sings "somewhere out there" Judy Garland-style. Verse-map...
Minute 84 - We Put A Death Scene On A Bagel!
Evelyn smiles at Alpha Waymond but he starts coughing, falling into her arms. Cut to Alpha Winnebago wreckage—Audrey and Peter dead holding hands. Alpha Waymond clutches Evelyn's urn as light floods in. Jobu appears in amoeba outfit (green tiger-striped spikes, feathery puffballs, bug-eye goggles). Single androgynous voice announces her arrival like reversed lullaby. She staggers-swaggers forward. Jobu bends, electronics flicker, she boops his nose with middle knuckle (priest blessing/fairy godmother gesture)—killing him. Voices carry Waymond away. He tries kissing Evelyn (ambiguous whether successful), eyes roll back, falls. Evelyn realizes he's dead. Our Waymond wakes asking about Raccoon Waym...
Minute 83 - We Put Super Smash Bros. On A Bagel!
SWAT guy attacks, Evelyn deflects and pinky-punches him skyward with the Super Smash Brothers KO sound. He crashes back as Evelyn adds a ground-slam finisher. We dolly out revealing destroyed atrium carnage—flickering emergency lights mimicking fires, dust settling everywhere. Waymond catches collapsing Evelyn as she mutters "it's gonna be so hard to explain this." He removes his glasses—Alpha Waymond!—he's been watching her. Evelyn laughs genuinely proud: "Did you see how good I am?" declaring she'll defeat Jobu. Alpha Waymond warns her stupid plan pissed off the multiverse, then: "and it just might work."We debate the Smash Bros s...
Minute 82 - We Put Pinky Powers On A Bagel!
Evelyn watches herself get chair-slammed by Gong Gong on screen while simultaneously experiencing it in the IRS. Gong Gong pulls a grenade pin saying "I'm sorry, Evelyn, we'll die together" with real emotion. Her headset warns "mind fracturing" as a fly lands nearby—she snorts it instantly without hesitation. Wong Kar Wai kung fu master teaches "even this pinky can be kung fu" as seasons pass deliberately out of order. Evelyn's muscular pinky (practical effect with air bladder) snaps chair legs, launching Gong Gong backward yelling "Pinky!" The grenade explodes, Alpha team surrounds her, and Evelyn demolishes the Edgelord and Jo...
Minute 81 - We Put The Last Butt Plug (We Promise!) On A Bagel!
Evelyn bounces through universes—Wong Kar Wai theater, pizza universe (holding the Beefy 2X special sign!), tax office with receipts mysteriously appearing around her. The Le brothers unite with (not quite) matching butt plug trophies in synchronized menacing poses. Evelyn takes a crane stance, they attack in flight formation, and she spins like a windmill yanking both awards free mid-air. Brian crashes ass-first into a ladder (pixelated), Andy gets ceiling debris dumped on him. Evelyn drops the trophies in disgust as Gong Gong charges with an office chair. We discover the bombshell: Evelyn's Alpha universe death date is November 8, 2016—Trump's elec...
Minute 80 - We Put A Butt Plug In A Butt On A Bagel!
Brian Le leaps spread-eagle onto James Wyatt's Auditor of the Month Award with an epic cinematic boom, his dignity preserved only by pixelation. This allows him to perform Shaolin chi-gathering moves—pointer finger pushing through invisible resistance—before they fight. Evelyn grounds herself with a foot-hop and palm-strikes Brian into an accordion fall. The minute ends with her flying through plastic tarps after a kick sends her briefly into the Wong Kar Wai theater universe where she spills the manager's popcorn. We extensively debate the pixelation—does censoring Brian's anatomy make it funnier than coy camera tricks? The pixelation paradoxically feels...
Minute 79 - We Put ANOTHER Butt Plug On A Bagel!
Evelyn and Andy Le lose their powers and immediately start slapping each other like kids yelling "stop it, you stop it!" Joy figures out what happened while Waymond lags behind asking "what happened?" Andy requests a new jumping pad from Alpha Gong Gong, then unzips his pants cowboy-duel-style, revealing tighty-whities as he eyes the Auditor of the Month Award. The funniest beat? Evelyn stops mid-fight to shout an incredulous "WHAT?!" when Joy suggests blowing on Andy's nose to make him scream involuntarily. We debate whether Chad and Andy Lee were originally the same character, then spend quality time discussing test...
Minute 78 - We Put Harry Shum Jr. On A Bagel!
Chad the teppanyaki chef winks at Evelyn, his raccoon-tail ponytail swishing with impossible liveliness. Then drumming interrupts—Andy Lee banging pipes on cubicles Warriors-style, calling her out for a gang fight. Evelyn faces him with a cake knife and wooden spoon, barely keeping up as the teppanyaki skills flicker in and out. Andy shatters her spoon, she throws a laptop, he swats it mid-leap and lands in a Spider-Man pose. The funniest beat? Evelyn's face after he destroys her laptop—equal parts amazed and offended, like "rude, I worked hard on that throw."We spend serious time in the Chad Trap...
Minute 77 - We Put Orange Soda On A Bagel!
Evelyn chugs orange soda to jump into a teppanyaki chef universe, her hands slicing and spinning eggs with professional precision while her face registers total confusion. She cuts Debbie's dog leash with a wooden spoon and cake knife, sending the pup ricocheting off a cubicle. Then she spins an egg timer like a spatula trick before launching it straight at Debbie's forehead—ding. The funniest beat? Waymond's ADR line explaining the whole movie: "I think when she does something weird it helps her fight. It gives her power."We debate artificial fruit flavors for a solid stretch—Lester ranks orange soda...
Minute 76 - We Put A Dog Fight On A Bagel!
Evelyn finishes her shield-spinning fight with a mom-tired hands-on-hips pose, then shepherds Waymond and Joy toward safety like they're late for a flight. But before she can catch her breath, Debbie the dog mom attacks—swinging her dog like a medieval meteor hammer. Evelyn dodges, traps the flying pup in the fridge, and unscrews a two-liter of orange soda while staring Debbie down with crazy eyes and her tongue out. The funniest beat? We hear the comical thud and angry bark as the toy dog bounces into the fridge, then Evelyn closes the door and just grins. We spend quality ti...
Minute 75 - We Put A Frog In The Throat On A Bagel!
Evelyn swallows a wooden frog figurine to jump verses, and Lester is very concerned about the choking hazard. She grabs a SWAT shield mid-fight and suddenly she's spinning it like a pizza sign, blocking seven attackers at once, and finishing in a Matrix-y kung fu pose!We dig into Michelle Yeoh's weapon training—how she carried the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon spear everywhere to make it an extension of her body, then did the same with the pizza sign and SWAT shield for this film. We track how Evelyn's power is growing but also cracking the multiverse: pizza-universe Evelyn pauses mi...
Minute 74 - We Put OPERA On A Bagel!
On this episode, it's not over 'til the verse-jumping lady sings! We follow Evelyn as she verse jumps into a world where she is a blind opera singer. What tragic irony that THIS is the universe where Gong Gong is looking on Evelyn with love and pride...and she can't see it! We also got another "Carmen Coincidence" moment because the lyrics of this opera song could mirror Evelyn's feelings about coming back to her dream of singing after such a long time. This is also the minute where the student surpasses the master—Evelyn jumped to this universe all on...
Minute 73 - We Put Your Eye Out On A Bagel!
On this episode: Why is it "put" your eye out? - Riddle me this! - What is Officer Brian doing to that lamp?! - "An orgy of stupid" - hidden hotdog - PSA: clean your sex toys - how DO you clean feathers? - DON'T google "Mickey Mouse Gas Mask" - Trigger Warning: body horror - the tragic irony that she can't se Gong Gong smiling!....and more!
