There has been an update in the case of Kylie Arellano (episode #337 from May 2026). On November 1st, 2026, police in Oregon found a 17-year-old girl in the company of a 39-year-old man. He was taken into custody without incident. That night, the FBI's Salt Lake City Field Office announced that a teen missing from Garden City since May 2025 had been safely recovered.

"How can the world get along without me?"

Following the deaths of Barry & Honey Sherman in December 2017, the world and family they had spent decades building began to split apart. Barry's business, Apotex, was sold to an American private equity firm in 2022, despite him hoping it'd stay in Canadian hands after his death. His estate was split up amongst his four children and their spouses, who soon found themselves in a power struggle to chart its future. Meanwhile, everyone had their own theory about what had happened to the Shermans and who was responsible for it.

On Friday, 26 January 2018, about 50 journalists file into the media briefing room at Toronto Police headquarters on College Street. They've been told only that there will be an "update" on the Sherman case. It has been six weeks since the bodies of Barry and Honey Sherman were found beside the indoor pool of their home in North York, and in those six weeks, the Toronto Police Service has said almost nothing about how they died. In 1996, while on vacation, Barry Sherman sat down and put down some of his thoughts on paper for the first time. He wrote what were to be the first chapters of an autobiography titled "A Legacy of Thoughts." At the end, he planned out several more chapters to come - with titles such as "The Insatiable Cartel" and "Going for the Kill" - but never got around to writing them...

"No suicide note was located and none of the medical records located in the office relate to mental health or indicate anything in regards to suicide."

On Monday, January 15th, 2018, a month to the day after the bodies of Barry and Honey Sherman were found in their home, two Toronto homicide detectives walked into the head office of Apotex on Signet Drive. They were looking for anything - a note, a journal, medical records - that might show a man who was sick or depressed or otherwise planning something.

What they found, though, was an unfinished...

On the morning of Friday, 15 December 2017, police in Toronto were contacted by multiple people at a residence in North York. The calls came in just before noon, and were from the housekeeper who cleaned the home every Friday, a real estate agent that was selling the property, and a contractor who took care of the plants. They were sure that they had discovered the bodies of the homeowners, 75-year-old Barry Sherman and his 70-year-old wife Honey, in the basement near the indoor...

At 00:53 Coordinated Universal Time on September 22nd, 1979, an aging American satellite called Vela 6911 recorded a double flash of light somewhere over the southern Indian Ocean. That same night, President Jimmy Carter wrote in his diary that there was an indication of a nuclear explosion near South Africa, and that it was either South Africa, Israel using a ship at sea, or nothing.

In May 1969, Vela 6911 had been launched into the upper atmosphere to monitor a portion of the planet for any sign of a nuclear explosion. It was also armed with a pair of optical sensors called bhangmeters, which were named that almost as a joke, because 'you would have to be high' to believe they would actually work.

In late December 1976, a camper was spending time down in the Florida Keys. He was camping in an area known as the rock pit alongside US Route 1 on Grassy Key, a limestone quarry site used by campers and party-goers alike. While there, though, he was approached by a man he later described as a "hippie-type," who offered to show him a decomposing human body for a quarter. The camper declined and called the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

On the afternoon of 16 October 2018, Elizabeth Herbert called the Connecticut State Police and reported her husband, 44-year-old Oli, missing. Officers responded to the property on Hydeville Pond in Stafford Springs, where they searched the grounds. At 9:44 PM on Thursday, May 29th, 2025, 15-year-old Kylie Arellano sent her mother a text that read simply "I love you, Mama. Goodnight." Her mother, Stephanie Coleman, replied "I love you too, baby girl." Eight minutes later, Kylie's phone went dark.

The last signal placed the device approximately three hundred feet from the family's home in Garden City, Utah. After that, nothing. Kylie was last spotted without shoes near her home, carrying a suitcase with a skull print. The direction she was headed...

53-year-old Alan Holmes was living a quiet life in the winter of 1995. A longtime resident of Camden Town, Alan was unmarried and had no children. He had spent nearly two decades working as a garage hand at Kentish Town Police Station, where he was widely regarded as a gentle giant who was beloved but very quiet. He normally kept to himself.

On the evening of Thursday, December 12, 1985, shoppers at a K-Mart in Spanaway found a toddler loitering outside the entrance. She'd been spotted playing with two other children outside the store, but as shoppers came and went, the little girl remained outside. The store's assistant manager reported a missing child over the store's intercom, but that did nothing to rouse a parent or guardian.

Because of her difficulties communicating, the little girl was unable to say much about how she'd ended up...

On 10:54 AM on 28 February 2001, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck western Washington. The epicenter was in the southern Puget Sound, but the quake originated roughly 32 miles beneath the surface, mitigating some shaking.
