The election this week couldn’t have been better. Actually, it could have. That’s another video for another day. Generally speaking, it couldn’t have been much better.

There are definitely a great deal of results to celebrate. But let’s not celebrate too long. We’ve put people in place who can start to make things right. But will they?

That will depend upon leadership. All signs are currently pointing to the wrong leadership. If that’s the case, our victory may be short-lived and fruitless.

Election day is here. As we got closer and the confidence in a Democratic House and Senate grew, so did the calls for a continuation of what got us here. The ‘Can’t we all get along’ wing of the Democratic party is out in force trying to protect the status quo.

I have been far too busy lately for making videos. But something came up today that required me to shuffle priorities.

We have a debate next Tuesday (Sept. 29) and my opponent presented the perfect opportunity for me to try and get into his head. I had to take it.

I hate not being able to make my usual video schedule. After the election, after I get some sleep, then I plan on making up for lost ground while starting a new motif for my channel. It will be an “A day in the life of…” kind of motif.

Since I haven’t had time to make my regular videos, I combined my usual commentary with a campaign update. Ty’s fundraising number for August came as a little bit of a shock. The GOP is protecting him like Trump protects access to the Epstein files.

I said yesterday that the endorsement I was most proud of, so far, was the Colorado AFL-CIO. This endorsement isn’t less or more than that endorsement. It’s different.

Yes. The Supreme Court decision lifting the stay on Trump’s blatantly unconstitutional executive order prohibiting the post office from delivering ballots to anybody not on the DHS approved list of voters was horrible.

That’s not a reason to panic. It’s not a reason to believe that Trump will succeed in preventing millions of American’s from casting their ballots this year or next.

It is a reason to update your plan to vote. It’s unlikely that his executive order will survive when the order itself finally comes before the Supreme Court. If it does...

I was planning on transitioning my campaign messaging away from Ty Winter and focus it on me and my platform.

Personally, I think this one is timely as long as Trump is in office. But others might think I’m rehashing old news.

Politicians say a lot of things about supporting rural communities. Their voting records tell us what they actually do.

Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program is bringing funding to 23 of the 31 school districts in House District 47, including money that helps schools purchase food from local farmers and ranchers.

It took a series of six bills over four years to make this happen. Rep. Ty Winter wasn’t in office for the first one.

He voted against the other five.

It looks like the insult/scare tactic de jour for the Republicans this year is going to be to call every Democrat a communist. It took them a minute to figure out that calling us socialists just doesn’t have the punch that it used to. So communist it is.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been hearing this garbage all of my life and it’s starting to get old.

So I decided to point a few things out. It was very convenient that the Republicans are the red party.

A single headline made me stop.

Not because of what happened, but because of how the story was framed.

This isn’t a discussion about whether Democrats should criticize Republicans. That’s politics, especially during an election year. What caught my attention was the subtle message I think the headline sends before anyone has even read the article.

More and more Trump supporters are beginning to see the fallacy of supporting him.

That got me to thinking, what if I could help them climb over that fence and get back on the right side of history.

I laid the groundwork by discussing his planned television appearance tomorrow night. Then I gave them a way to listen to it that just might, if they try it, help them come back into the light.

The company store didn’t disappear. It evolved.

Colorado had a chance to require large employers to either provide affordable healthcare or contribute toward the Medicaid costs created when their employees need public assistance.

Ty Winter voted against that bill.

This isn’t just about healthcare. It’s about whether taxpayers should continue subsidizing profitable corporations while working families struggle to get ahead.

One of the things I believe elected officials should do is educate voters, not just repeat consultant-tested talking points.

A Facebook comment claiming that only “illegals” lost Medicaid benefits gave me an opportunity to explain something many Americans don’t know: millions of retirees rely on Medicaid to help pay their Medicare Part B premiums. When that assistance disappears, the consequences are very real.

This piece isn’t about scoring political points. It’s about making sure we’re arguing from the same set of facts.
