After Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the public would be able to watch a firing squad execute Fort Hood mass killer Nidal Hasan, the Pentagon got specific, saying the execution would be live-streamed. Hassan’s planned, public execution is scheduled for December 3rd at 1pm, on the same day of the week and the same time Hasan killed 13 and wounded 30 others back in 2009.  Hasan was wounded in the attack and is paralyzed, and there are many questions about the legality and morality of a public execution. After an hours long manhunt, 22-year-old Ryan Hanafin is in custody and believed to be responsible for shooting and killing his own mother. Hanafin was arrested after his father found his wife, 49-year-old Andria in the kitchen, dead. Their 13-year-old son was unharmed  inside the home, and their older daughter was away at college, but Ryan was missing along with his vehicle. Police tracked Ryan down in Vermont and he’s expected to face murder charges when he faces a judge later this afternoon. This is the first murder in Reading, Massachusetts in more than a decade.

Over the past year, Michigan police say the violent deaths of five white men along a popular river trail appear to be connected. Lansing’s police chief acknowledged that the city may have a serial killer on its hands and have asked for help from the community, setting up a tip line. Four of the victims were brutally beaten in the head, suffering facial injuries, all eventually dying from their injuries in the hospital. A Texas man was executed after a nearly two hour delay on Wednesday using the exact same, single dose method of pentobarbital that Tennessee administered to Christa Pike. The outcome was very different for 46-year-old Jamaal Howard, who was pronounced dead within 15 minutes. Howard apologized to his victim’s family in his final words, after being convicted in the shooting death of convenience store worker Vickie Swartout back in 2000.

In a press conference following an emergency hearing called by the attorneys of Christa Pike, we learned more details about how and when Pike regained consciousness. Her attorneys say they believed Pike was brain dead Monday evening and was going to be taken off life support Tuesday, when she suddenly woke up and asked, “Where am I? Three friends of Nolan Wells, the college student who went missing during a Fourth of July celebration in Mississippi, have sued NFL Hall of Famer Terrell Owens for defamation. Owens reposted a video, with pictures of three boys’ faces, accusing them of murdering Wells and adding the caption “ARREST THEM IMMEDIATELY!!” Owens post came after a grand jury did not recommend any criminal charges in Wells’ death. Lawyers for the friends say they also intend to file several more defamation claims, among them, the Rev. Al Sharpton and “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin for comments they made discussing Wells' death.

Residents are demanding answers after a county in Florida discovered multiple Flock cameras that were not permitted, and have no known owner. It’s also unclear whether those cameras are actively collecting data or who can access it. Governor Kathy Hochul held a brief, joint press conference with New York Attorney General Letitia James. 71-year-old Douglas Carter walked out of prison this week after spending 40 years on death row for a 1985 murder he says he never committed. Carter was finally freed after DNA from the crime scene excluded him as a suspect. Carter was finally granted a new trial last year after the Utah Supreme Court ruled the two witnesses who testified against him recanted their stories, revealing that police and a prosecutor gave them cash and gifts to point the finger at Carter.
