A one hour delay, turned into a three hour ordeal, that ultimately ended in a mistrial. After a judge from the Massachusetts Supreme Court denied the defense’s last-ditch effort for an emergency stay, Judge Sullivan officially declared a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial. Before jurors began deliberating again this morning, things got heated once again between Lindsay Clancy’s attorney Kevin Reddington and Judge Sullivan. Reddington wanted the holdout juror to be questioned in open court, but the judge ultimately denied his request, saying there was no indication the juror has refused to deliberate or follow the law. Reddington then accused the judge of softly, glossing over his instructions to the jury, and that’s when Sullivan fired back, defending himself. The judge ultimately gave new, slightly more forceful instructions to jurors before sending them back to deliberations.

It’s anyone’s guess what may happen when court resumes at 9am in the triple murder trial of Lindsay Clancy. We heard from Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, that the judge will first hold an inquiry into the juror identified for refusing to follow the judge’s instructions on reasonable doubt.  Depending on how that goes, jurors are then expected to resume deliberations for the seventh day, up against the timeline of a holiday weekend.

After 36 hours of trying to reach a verdict, the jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial will return on Friday for their seventh day of deliberations. But we just heard from defense attorney Kevin Reddington who told reporters there will first be an inquiry into the juror who reportedly refused to follow the judge’s instructions on reasonable doubt. As the jury just headed back into Day 6 of deliberations, it’s hard to imagine there aren’t some heated, emotional back and forth discussions going on as one side tries to convince the other to come to their way of thinking. We took the two extreme options for the jury: Guilty of first degree murder versus Not Guilty by reason of insanity and had our own debate. The problem we so quickly realized, both verdicts have justifiable and verifiable evidence to reasonably back up each outcome.

The judge issued his second and final instruction to the jury, reading from what’s known as the “Tuey Rodriguez” charge, encouraging jurors to reconsider their positions. A major announcement from the number one syndicated show on TV: ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ is suspending its longtime announcer Jim Thorton after it was “made aware of allegations” stemming from an American Airlines flight back in May. As of this morning, the jury has already deliberated for 17 hours, which makes this verdict watch one of the longest in recent high profile murder trials. One week shy of the 30th anniversary of the shooting death of Tupac Shakur, 63-year-old Duane Davis was found guilty of murdering the rap icon on the Vegas Strip. It only took the jury three hours to convict Davis, after two weeks of testimony and nearly 30 witnesses.  The prosecution effectively used Davis’ own words, both written and spoken to convince the jury of 12 that he was the mastermind behind the killing. We continue to be on verdict watch as 9 women and 3 men continue a second day of deliberations, with no verdict as of yet. Earlier today, Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, told reporters the jurors asked to see the bag of empty pill bottles found in Clancy’s nightstand, as well as the bloody knife she used in her suicide attempt. The prosecution began its closing arguments by acknowledging Lindsay Clancy was mentally ill, but pointed out that she had an “abundance of help” and was in a privileged position.
