Ahoy, you whirlybirds! Today in JAWGUST 2 it looks like our local teens are about to be rescued. Phew! I thought I was going to need rescuing myself today as my usual computer is giving me issues forcing me jump on my wife's old PC and - hope for the best! Happy Saturday, Sharkys! While yesterday was pretty exciting, today's JAWGUST 2 episode feels like it is the calm before the shark really hits the fan. I recorded today's episode early and outside - but you'll have to listen to know just why!

I also talk about an unfortunate news story where a JAWS themed souvenir shop in Panama City, Florida burned to the ground.

FINALLY! It wasn't any propeller, it wasn't any coral reef, and it wasn't Jack the Ripper! IT WAS A SHARK! I feel like it's been forever in JAWGUST 2 since we got some good (dare I say great?) shark action! Great for us...not so great for poor Eddie.

Also, I touch once again on the brilliance of John Williams.

Sir Christopher Cross said it best when he said "Sailing, Takes me away," because on today's episode of JAWGUST 2 it seems sailing is going to end up taking Tina's boyfriend away...For good!

Happy Wednesday, you holy divers! Today's episode of JAWGUST 2 covered a segment of the movie that was 95% dialogue free - but finally had some shark action in it, even though it was only for a few seconds and could have been - should have been - much more exciting.

But again, at least that shark is finally here.

It's Tuesday my fellow sailers, and today in JAWGUST 2, the Amity teens finally set sail for a day of fun and blood! But before I talk about the next (not so) action packed three minutes and forty seconds of JAWS 2, I also take a moment to appreciate the man, the myth, the legend - the great John Williams.

Happy Monday fellow Brody supporters! Today for JAWGUST 2, I felt like I found gold. Maybe what I found is already well known (it is mentioned on IMDB) but for me, it felt like I struck oil because I never heard, read or saw any mention of this before noticing it myself.

And at the very least - I knew I had something to talk about, because this segment of JAWS 2 was...fairly quiet.

Happy Sunday Amity Islanders and welcome back to JAWGUST 2. Wait sorry, if you weren't born there you'll never be an islander - and you know what? That might be a good thing, because a lot of these Amity lifers aren't worth the hand they raise to fire good, hard-working, ruggedly handsome police officers.

Happy Friday, fellow degenerate gamblers! After an evening in Connecticut at Foxwoods, I'm back talking more JAWGUST 2 today! Today's segment featured two moments where I think I improved how they could have been utilized in the script, and one moment that enraged me (or at least annoyed me).

Brody might be feeling pretty low right now - but at least he still has Sean's support. And that beatutiful award.

Aw Jeez! The Chief's really gone and stepped in it this time, hasn't he!? Today in JAWGUST 2 is not a good day for the Brody family. Martin goes and opens fire on a crowded beach with his illegal poison bullets. Ellen has to deal with the aftermath of embarrassment both at her job and on a personal level.

And Michael has to do a terrible job painting a cabana while basically being cuckolded by a sailing by Larry Vaughn Jr.

We also finally see the little girl who was actually the real life...

Happy Price Spaghetti Day, you beach combers! Today for JAWGUST 2 we head back to the beach, where we get an angry Mayor, a nervous Chief, and an 80-second montage that rivals Baywatch (but not Baywatch Nights. Nothing rivals that).

And besides this 3-minutes and 40 seconds, absolutely nothing JAWS related happened today, which is rather sickening if you ask me. The only thing that even comes close is that I was in Maine multiple times this month - but of course not in the area on the day a great white shark shows up.

Happy Tuesday, fellow cinema enthusiasts! Today in JAWGUST 2 I talk about Brody making deadly and most likely illegal ammunition, I question the validity of the town coroner, and I spend too much time enjoying the Michael and Sean's video game system.

I also talk about my day up in Boothbay Harbor, Maine with my wife and her mom - but only because it does tie into JAWS and JAWGUST!

It's Funday Monday! Another week of JAWGUST 2 is upon us! Today we reach the point of JAWS 2 where Mayor Vaughn just heard Brody's suspicion of there being another shark - and naturally his first inkling is to not believe him, disregard him, and ask him to drop it.

That worked out so well last time.

Brody is really starting to think Amity has another shark problem, so much so that he brings his thoughts to the only man nobody should trust - Larry Vaughn! Brody has some experiences with sharks, even though the charisma-free marine expert Brody called seemed to have no idea.

Whilst I am having a whale of a time visiting family this weekend, today on JAWGUST 2, Chief Brody is starting to get a little nervous, we meet a doctor who I bet producers which was someone else, and also, I am starting to understand why this was the Michael Brody actor's last film.

Happy Friday, Jawgustians! Even though I'm away for the weekend, you didn't think I'd forget about JAWGUST 2 did you? Today we saw the other half of the famous (infamous) waterskiing scene - so i figured I would include that juicy fruit commercial one more time. Nothing wrong with a little shameless promotion...

This might be the first time in the movie Brody is thinking a shark could be back - but other than that, it's just a big ol' explosion and then looking for survivors...well maybe not survivors.

Happy Thursday, fellow JAWS a-fin-ionados! Okay, looking back at that last sentence I'm not too proud of that pun in written form - but when I say it out loud it's fairly tremendous. It's day six of of JAWGUST 2 and today, even though barely anything was said - we get what is arguably the most famous scene in JAWS 2, so much so that the movie poster is based on it. Which then in turn became the basis for my JAWGUST logo this year. It's all thanks to this scene.

Happy Wednesday, Sharkheads! Day five of of JAWGUST 2 and today I talk a little more in depth about how Roy Scheider didn't really want to do this movie, but contracts and money have a way of changing minds. I mention a Daily Jaws blog post that talks about this more.

I also talk a little more about the JAWS 2 novelization that I am making my way through and just how different it is (and how it makes me appreciate the movie even more.)

Today my friends, is a very special day of JAWGUST 2. Not because of anything to do with this movie or this podcast - but because I'm f***ing 50 today! How is that possible that someone with my youthful exuberance can be so old? It's kinda gross.

But I like to think I make gross look good - and even at my advanced age, I will continue to be as immature as possible and keep on podcasting about sequels of varying degrees of quality during the month of JAWGUST for the foreseeable future.

I'm only three days into JAWGUST 2 and already, I'm sensing that Amity is back to it's corrupt ways. It's not everybody in town - obviously the good Chief Brody is heroic and a class act as always (I mean that whole catcalling yesterday was just um...just harmless fun). And Ellen is just trying to do her best at her job with Len Peterson.

Clearly none of the Amity teens have anything to be ashamed of. But that mayor - and those business owners. I still don't trust them as far as I could throw...

Fear not, JAWGUST fans! Chief Brody is still running things in Amity - even if Amity looks more Floridian than ever before! He's late for the Holiday Inn Amity Shores opening, which apparently is a big deal to Ellen - but he makes it in time to cat call a teenage girl in a bathin suit.

We also see the Mayor Vaughn, who somehow wasn't impeached, and we see this pretty awesome hotel that were real Holiday Inn Holidomes.

HAPPY JAWGUST EVERYBODY! Yes, your favorite JAWS themed month of podcasting is finally back! I'm sorry it took so long - but that's how calendars work. Yes, as you may have already figured out - this year we are talking about all things JAWS 2 as we discuss 3 minutes and 40 seconds of JAWS 2 every day in August (well maybe a few more seconds on that last day).

I'm also reading the JAWS 2 novelization which is said to be very different (and so far it really is). I take a few minutes to read part the novelization's...

And here we are, once again. The final day of Movie Month. Today marks the 390th overall movie and the 330th podcast of my favorite podcast project of the year! Today I went back to the theater one last time to see the latest DC Studios release, Supergirl. Despite some opinions and smaller than hoped for box office receipts, I (spoiler) enjoyed this movie and loved Milly Alcock as Supergirl.

Since this is the final Movie Month episode of the year, I decided (all by myself and with no suggestion) that I should come up...

Finally. Finally. Finally. This movie eluded me in the theater. I just couldn't find the time to get out and see it. My wife even saw it with her students on a field trip - but I never got out to see it. Until today.

I read Project Hail Mary last year and it was probably (not probably) my favorite book from that year. Possibly my favorite book in the past couple years. The end of that book left my a blubbering mess so I was so excited to see that the movie was now...

Remember when seeing Dinosaur's in a movie was breathtaking? Decades go by, visual effects get better, and sequels and reboots keep those dinosaurs coming - but nothing can come close to the magic of the original. That being said, I have watched every Jurassic World movie as part of Movie Month, and enjoy them each to varying degrees.

This one? Well, it happened. I enjoyed some of characters, liked most of the actors, and thought the dinos were cool enough. There were some good action set pieces, some cool shots, and some moments that made...

Is there anything more fun than a good murder? Wait, I mean murder mystery!! Yes obviously I am talking about a fictitious murder, not like all those true crime docs and podcasts out there. Nope, this is the real fun. The real - fake - fun. Once again, Rian Johnson delivers a movie that I just love! My third Benoit Blanc movie for Movie Month!

And to think, this almost wasn't the movie I did today! I talk about that briefly whilst not giving away the movie I almost did. We can - save that...

On this final Friday of Movie Month, I decided to go back into the Predator world - one of two Predator movies that Dan Trachtenberg directed in 2025. That other one will have to wait until next year, but this one - what a fun, bad-ass, gorgeous looking animated film! Glad I decided to include this one into this year's project. Looking forward to what comes next!

FEED MY FRANKENSTEIN! I was fully prepared to use this Alice Cooper song as part of my episode – but the movie was just too good for me to add any more silliness to my show than it already has. I pretty much loved this movie and glad I waited for Movie Month to watch and discuss it. Always great to watch another Guillermo del Toro movie! They’re always gorgeous looking – and I’m not just talking about the cast (hubba hubba).

What’s even weirder is today I watched an episode of Jeopardy! (exclamation point alwa...

For Day 24, I decided go back one FINAL time this Movie Month into the Final Destination series - and boy am I glad I did. This one was way better than the last one - and that ending! I am so glad I wasn't spoiled on a 15 year old movie's twist nor did I read the first paragraph of the movie's Wikipedia page.

Was this a great movie? No. But I think this was a great Final Destination movie! I had a blast watching it - and isn't that the true meaning of Christmas? I...

If you told me there was a 150-minute movie about a borderline (or maybe not even borderline) unlikable table tennis player hustling his way through life to try to be the best player in the world - I would not expect to have had as enjoyable a time as I did watching this Marty Supreme.

Is Timothée Chalamet at the point now where a movie he stars in becomes infinitely more intriguing because he's starring in it?

For the third time in three years, I have been EQUALIZED! Did I just complete the trilogy? Or am I just in the middle of what might be a longer series!? Either way, I'm here for it. Was this movie great? No. Was this maybe the weakest of the three? Probably. Do I care? Nope. I could watch Denzel be this character and just drink tea all day.

Whether he's out there just enjoying the day - or he's out there equalizing bad guys to death - I'll be there to watch.

Welcome back to "Sundays with Steven" as today I decided to go back into the Spielberg world and back into the Tom Cruise world as well - for the 10th time! Today I finally went back the future as I went back to 2002 to jump ahead to the 2050s and watch the action/crime/sci-fi film, Minority Report. Yes, Movie Month is all about seeing a bunch of newer movies - but it's also about filling in some of the holes in my viewing history.

This hole being filled was long overdue, and now that...

If you like the Matrix, but wish there were vampires and werewolves fighting instead - but still using guns - then do I have the movie for you. I waited 23 years to finally watch Underworld for the first time. I am not even sure if I want to go on with the series. Underworld - more like Underwhelmed!

BOOM! Nailed it. Perfect joke.

I wanted a light, fun movie tonight after watching a couple of downers in a row - and this action/comedy/time-travel movie hit all the right beats. Did I love all the logic of how the time travel worked? Nope. Does it matter because time travel is not real? Nope.

There was some fun time travel gags, some fun performances, and just a simple story with a bit of sci-fi twist. And there was some Andrew W.K. so really, what's not to enjoy!?

Perfect Friday night movie.

Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi! You've heard of Christmas in July, right? Well today is my annual ChrisMo in June, as my Fine Movies. Fine Spirits. co-host Chris joins the show and once again picks a movie for ol' Mikey. Today Chris brought me a 2005 Australian Western that, speaking of Christmas, could actually be considered a Christmas movie.
