We have another visit with Larry Groebe and Project Audion with "On Stage," the early 50s anthology series created by (and for) Elliott and Cathy Lewis. Patte Rosebank and Tim Burns return to the microphones, joined by Trevor Rines, for this half-hour drama of two lost adults who find each other one night, and how it changed their lives. The writing is believable, and the performances, excellent. Not your normal old-time-radio show, this is well worth your time... 

The October Crisis is over and Jack is back, but will the Audioverse ever be same again? Join David and Jack as they repair the fractured universe one show at a time. This week, "October’s Children", an episodic full-cast paranormal mystery/horror audio drama set in a small college town in New England. "October’s Children" focuses on a small, diverse group of 20- and 30-somethings trying to survive the trials and tribulations of ‘everyday’ life in Wolfbrook, New Hampshire. Re-Imagined Radio presents "My Hands Are Different," an autobiographical memoir by Martin J. Gallagher, an independent composer and sound designer based in Portland, Oregon. Imagine having two fathers. Each a different model for your life. Martin's adoptive father gives him boxing gloves and a training schedule. His birth father, a mystery until after his death, gives him a box of his tape recordings, and inspires a career in music and creative media. From our Guest Producer series.

Larry Groebe is back with season 2 of Project Audion! This time it's a 1950 episode of Suspense called "Pearls are a Nuisance" adapted from a short story by Raymond Chandler. Radio Drama lives!

Re-Imagined Radio concludes its two-part Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall tribute. Part 2 samples the first two episodes of Bogart and Bacall's syndicated action-adventure radio series Bold Venture, 1951-1952. Slate Shannon (Bogart) and Gail "Sailor" Duval (Bacall), operate a hotel and charter boat in Havana, Cuba, before the revolution, and are natural magnets for adventurers and revolutionaries. Re-Imagined Radio begins its two-part Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall tribute. Part 1 features a re-listen to their first radio collaboration, the 1946 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of their 1943 motion picture, To Have and Have Not. Larry Groebe returns with the incredible Project Audion with "Destination X" called "Requiem."  This is an adaptation of an early short story by the OG Sci Fi author Robert Heinlein.

Re-Imagined Radio combines multiple "eye witness" radio news reports for this part documentary, part sound collage of stories about D-Day, the invasion of Europe by Allied military forces to repel German invaders and end World War II, June 6, 1944. "D-Day Radio Stories" provides a different storyline for this World War II turning point, and we hope, a worthy tribute to the Allied invading forces and those correspondents who went with them to tell the rest of us what they saw and heard.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Project Audion's recreation of the classic radio (later TV) situation comedy "The Life of Riley" and the charming 1950 episode "The Rileys' First Date" - complete with recreated laugh track. Directed by Tom Wilkens, and starring a truly transcontinental cast: Bob Beaumont, California Duane Noch, Oregon Patte Rosebank, Toronto Jack Ward, Nova Scotia John Mauldin, Tennessee Fern & Barry Katz, Florida Ken Raney, Texas Tom Wilkens, Illinois Trevor Rines, Canada The laugh track was developed by Dick Huitema in Florida, and the production was under the supervision of Larry Groebe in Texas.

Project Audion presents a recreation of the classic OTR Quiet Please episode titled "Rain on New Year's Eve." It's a small, spooky story about movies, monsters, and midnight, written by Wyllis Cooper, master of radio macabre which originally aired December 31, 1947. For this transcribed-live national recreation, Pete Lutz in Corpus Christi Texas directs and appears in the show, along with Dana Gonsalves, Jessica Mathews, and Marty Bufalini from WWJ radio in Detroit. Larry Groebe created the organ links and handled production elements.

Re-Imagined Radio samples two stories by Martin J. Gallagher, an independent composer and sound designer based in Portland, Oregon. Both stories are framed by music. "And the Waters Were Music" tells of Gallagher's 1998 visit to China with his wife Rose. He remembers how water and music were a part of his experience. "And the Ruins Became a Prayer," tells of learning about the war in Ukraine. In the story, Gallagher honors Ukrainian classical composer Valentin Silvestrov by recording a premiere performance of a three-movement string quartet, "Ruins of Mariupol," by Vancouver, Washington composer Daniel Truschov. We're thrilled to re-welcome Re-Imagined Radio back to the Monday Matinee stage as they present two radio stories, "Retribution" and "Restitution," both written by Cindy Brown, an actor, director, producer, playwright, and disabilities advocate based in Portland, Oregon. Project Audion's live-transcribed cross-continental Zoom-based production for October is an episode from Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre on the Air from 1938. No, not the "War of the Worlds" which everyone knows, but "Around the World in 80 Days" which aired the week before. Welles, John Houseman, and Howard Koch condensed Jules Verne's 1872 novel into a fast-paced 60 minutes, and fewer than 20 characters (which we handle by doubling each actor's part.) Phileas Fogg's journey started October 2, 1872 at about 9 PM: Project Audion's recreation premieres exactly 148 years later! The latest performance by Chicago's Northside/Southside Radio Players is "Put the Kettle On," Episode Two -- The Furry Turtles." This zany original musical comedy features the return of Mrs. Ellen Thackeray, her brother Bertie, and their handyman, Merkle. Merkle's discovery of strange little creatures living under the garage precipitates a near-miracle, as penned by and featuring David Drazin, with Carol Seymour, Nick Palumbo, Joe Urbancik, Douglas Bryan Bean, and Tom Gollagly.
