Inside a jam-packed auditorium on the campus of University of Texas El Paso, James Talarico slammed tech tycoon Elon Musk, drawing huge cheers from the audience, as he accused the world’s richest man of attempting to buy a U.S. Senate seat for Republican challenger Ken Paxton. Musk has reportedly poured nearly $200 million dollars into the race in support of Paxton’s bid.

“Elon Musk wants his very own personal United States senator,” Talarico told the crowd. “Texas is not for sale,” he added.

During his remarks, Talarico blasted Paxton for his long track record of co...

It sounds like a trope, but there truly was no bottom this week. But we tried to end it on a lighter note.

Since Friday was a travel day, we did a late and light version of the update, which we will lead off with. Enjoy!

I don’t know whether he’s sad or relieved, but Anthony Scaramucci was supplanted in the record books by Katie Zacharia. Her entire career as press secretary is covered in this week’s’ digest.

Katie Zacharia is out as press secretary, hours after we predicted it in today’s newsletter and Daily Update. Jim Acosta had some quick thoughts:

Guys, this just in: Katie Zacharia is out as the White House press secretary. She has been fired after only five days on the job.

That is worse than what happened to my friend Anthony Scaramucci, who was the White House communications director during the first Trump administration for just 11 days.

Katie Zacharia obviously was never cut out for the job. You could see how poorly she performed at...

This week saw Trump and his administration blow past Bond villainy into downright evil territory. Trump doubled down on his “let them nuke” American cities rant, his goons approved the use of a literal heat ray on civilians, announced a televised execution, and shot a man in front of his child.

Heads up! Today, we are introducing our interactive battleground map for the midterms. We are calling it MAAP - or the Measured Acosta Average of Polls - and it features live, updated race information in House, Senate and gubernatorial contests across the U.S.

Go to my website where you will find the MAAP and navigate to the map tab at the top of the screen. Enjoy!

And don’t forget the poll that really counts is on Election Day, as they say. So go vote!

Thanks,

Jim
