FAP-356 The Undead Unwanted Adventurer - An Existential Evolution is not a Crisis
#356
Last Monday at 10:00 AM

In this episode we dive into The Unwanted Undead Adventurer. We dig into the world building which was solid in its own right and the fact that they have an in-story researcher helps explain everything naturally, plus the power mix that the MC uses along with the weird biology bits like one drop of blood apparently goes a long way help to tie it all in and explain some of the other mechanics as well. However the early sprint with minimal explanation of the overall time line does hinder it a bit as it does not really give you...

FAP-355 Chivalry of a Failed Knight - Oh Look They Communicate
#355
10/06/2025

This week we talk about Chivalry of a Failed Knight and talked about the vibe of the anime and not so much the plot. One of the main points that we touch on is that the main couple actually communicates. We also talk about the main character Ikki and how he makes his own style because no one would train him, and he has a skill that is basically a burst mode that hits hard and then floors him right after. We even argued about chivalry and finally landed on yes, Ikki also sets boundaries and is willing to...

FAP-354 The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World - The Power of Friendship, Bonds and #TokyoTreat
#354
09/29/2025

This week we talk about how Power-Rangers-meets-isekai in The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World, where the MC Togo “dies” but wakes in a fantasy world, we laugh about the stat sheet and how his lists punch and kick separately and some subtle gags and the classic Power Ranger trope where enemies randomly explode on defeat. We note a teased “silver” ranger, bandage/bond visual puns like “adhesion squad” and “bond breakers” with a late-season tone shift that suddenly goes dark.

The Red Ranger Becomes an Adventurer in Another World mashes heroics and isekai comedy. Togo, the red le...

#353

Lycoris Recoil takes place in Tokyo, and follows elite teen agents “Lycoris,” raised by the secret government agency called Direct Attack (DA) whos job is to quietly prevent crime and terrorism. Takina, one of the Main Characters, is given a disciplinary transfer and is forced to be partners with the cheerful prodigy Chisato at front company café LycoReco. Another solo-hosted this week f...

FAP-352 See You Tomorrow at the Food Court - It is a day in their life
#352
09/15/2025

See You Tomorrow at the Food Court follows two high school girls, who look like total opposites, meet up everyday after class at the mall food court on their way home to just talk about life while they eat whatever catches their eyes. Wada is seen as a quiet, perfect honor student but in reality she’s actually a gacha game diehard with zero chill when it comes to her favorite SSR. Yamamoto has the look of a flashy gyaru type but in reality she’s thoughtful, grounded, and way more studious than people think. Every episode drops into a ha...

FAP-351 Angel Beats! - Hitting you with your funny bone
#351
09/08/2025

Angel Beats! is set in a high-school-like afterlife where teens who suffered in life are given a chance to work through their regrets before moving on. Otonashi, our MC, wakes up without memories and is pulled into the rebel group called the Afterlife Battlefront ( or SSS), which is a student militia led by Yuri that “rebels” against an unseen God, often clashing with the quiet and formidable student council president Kanade “Angel.” This is a brisk blend of slapstick raids, coupled with a couple of concert set-pieces by the in-story band Girls Dead Monster, followed up with gut-punch drama about pu...

FAP-350 Love Flops - Well that took a turn
#350
09/01/2025

We jumped into Love Flops at the recommendation of Jeb and at first we thought it was going to just be a standard harem show with some comedy which was true for the first half of the series but then it takes a hard pivot to VR Escapism because of grief coupled with AI trying to “learn love.” We talked about the intentional time leaps as well as how time passed vs how it appeared to have passed, and how each girl basically feels like they used a different “training dataset” for what love might look like.

FAP-349 Am I Actually The Strongest? - A Short and Narrow Story
#349
08/25/2025

“Am I Actually the Strongest?” follows Haruto, a 30-something shut-in that gets reincarnated with an absurd power that always reads “level 2, no element,” so as a baby he gets ditched in a forest who then is adopted almost immediately. When that happens he decides it is best to hide who he is so that he can  chase the quietest life possible  but instead he becomes the hero of justice. He is forced to keep up appearances to keep his little sister Char from outing him to his parents and he also gets mistaken for being a demon lord as well by de...

FAP-348 The Executioner and Her Way of Life - Well That Took a Turn With #TokyoTreat
#348
08/18/2025

The Executioner and Her Way of Life is an interesting take on the Isekai genre. And while it starts out like a number of other ones. Where someone is summoned to another world and thus their journey begins. However in this world people are summoned all the time and always from Japan. And that is what truly sets this apart is that they are not summoned to that world for a noble reason and you get to see the side after the effects of that and how that world has changed from the summoning of people to their world...

FAP-347 Aharen is Indecipherable Season 2 - That Ended Rather Quickly Didn't it?
#347
08/11/2025

This week we are talking about Aharen is Indecipherable Season 2. And picks up right where Season 1 leaves off, with Raido and Aharen officially a couple heading into their second year of high school. And it keeps the same slow-burn romance but then things start to open up with new faces and they also give more time to the side characters that also shed some light on Aharen's past. The show mainly stays on point but they started to pick up pace and started to time skip to cap it all off with a major time skip to...

FAP-346 Aharen is Indecipherable Season 1 - A whisper with bold imagination
08/04/2025

This week we are talking about Aharen is Indecipherable Season 1 as recommended by Jeb. And it is a show that is certainly a slow burn to say the least. And by that we mean if you go by the 3 episode rule for anime then you will certainly pass this one by as it takes about 5 episodes to really grab you. That is not to say that those first few episodes are not entertaining in their own way, just that they are not enough to grab you so that you watch the whole season. But once you get past that...

FAP-345 By The Grace Of gods Season 2 - Sliming it One City at a Time
#345
07/28/2025

This week we are talking about By the Grave of Gods Season 2 as recommended by Jeb. And this week it was a nice revisit for us and a break for what we have been watching. The show overall was solid and picked up right where season 1 left off so if you are watching the series all together at the same time. That being said the story was pretty straight forward no surprises or anything like that but we did have some questions that we know we will never get answers to but still it was fun to think about...

FAP-344 Akudama Drive - Que the flashy character intro with #Tokyotreat
#344
07/21/2025

This week are talking about Akudama Drive and honestly for us it was not that great of a show. It was not horrible but it also was not great. This anime follows a group of criminals that all literally named after what their crime or specialty is, like Courier, Brawler, Doctor, Hacker. Each character has a unique design and video game-like feel which is not to surprising since one of the creators worked for a game company. But one of the major downsides for us aside from the pacing was how predictable everything was. We also dig into the...

FAP-343 Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess - She is Weakly strong
#343
07/20/2025

This week we are talking about Vexations of a Shut-in Vampire Princess which was a recommendation from Shut In Jeb. And it was an interesting choice. The anime overall was enjoyable for both of us. But at the same time there were several questions that we had for most of the show that we watched and it was not something that we could look over. We dive into things that are not fully explained by the anime and it left Jack with a bad taste in his mouth. And for Rick there were somethings that he could not get...

FAP-342 Anime-Gataris - It's a Love Letter to Anime Fans
#342
07/07/2025

This week we are talking about Anime-Gataris which was a recommendation from Major Montana. Was in so many words a love story to the fans of Anime. It hits all the thoughts and lingo that we usually use as well as habits that we use as well when it comes to anime. They in essence called us all out and at the same time broke the 4th wall all to have fun. That being said it was not without it's drawback and they were there for sure. With a shallow story and no real character development this story is...

FAP-341 TenPuru - He Owes Chump Change
#340
06/30/2025

This week we are talking about Temple which was a recommendation from Jeb. It was a chaotic ride that also was a fan service heavy show. We dove into Akemitsu’s painful attempts to stay pure while surrounded by anime’s worst temptations, plus the sheer craziness of his dad racking up a 20 million yen debt just so he can try and get a global harem. In the end it was an anime that we laughed at, but because of the chaos we ended rewinding way more than usual just to catch what the hell was happening.

FAP-340 Rokudo Bad Girls - Whiny Hero, Wild Heroines And #TokyoTreat
#340
06/23/2025

This week we dive into Rokudo Bad Girls. The story is about a bullied underdog Rokudo who inherits a magic scroll that makes every bad girl, fall head over heels for him any time he’s near. We go into detail about the show and the bold‑lined animation style, and we compare Roku’s nonstop crying to the energy of Tokyo Revengers, we also wonder whether his shift from pushover to protector ever really sticks. In the end this show only really has surface‑level fun with a dash of character growth, even if our hero stays pretty whiny th...

FAP-339 Eight-Six - This Reminds Us of Something
#339
06/16/2025

In this episode we dive headfirst into 86’s brutal drone war nonsense. The Republic claims a “bloodless conflict,” but it’s really run on invisible 86ers shoved into glass-cannon mechs. We chat about Lena’s efforts to bring hope to Shin and his crew, and what this anime reminds us of in terms of undertones that were not so subtle. We also touch on Shin’s psychic telepathy angle and that slow-burn connection between him and Lena. Sure, the pacing stumbles with flashbacks on repeat and a few loose threads never get resolved, but the heart of the story still packs...

FAP-338 I May Be Guild Receptionist - Hammers Solve Everything
#338
06/09/2025

This week is all about I May Be A Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss To Clock Out On Time with just Jack. Now the story is something that is pretty solid and it had all the makings of a great show. The story was easy enough to follow and it did focus on what the title exactly is and it really highlights her struggles. But also at the same time there is no real depth to some of it and honestly you are left with far more questions then what you are given answers too leaving you w...

FAP-337 Farming Life in Another World - He was made super healthy
#337
06/02/2025

This week is all about Farming Life in Another World. Which was a recommendation. It was a nice change of pace from last weeks choice it had it's funny moments and time where it was entertaining but overall it was a show that was very middling for us. Where the faults just seemed to drag it down.

Next Week's Pick: "I May Be a Guild Receptionist, But I'll Solo Any Boss to Clock Out on Time"

Have you had the chance to watch Farming Life in Another World or any of our previous selections? We’d lo...

FAP-336 Witch Hunter Robin - It's From the Past with #TokyoTreat
#336
05/26/2025

This week is all about Witch Hunter Robin with just Jack. The story is about a young pyrokinetic witch working for Solomon. For Jack this is trip down memory lane and for him it was honestly best left there. The lack of certain plot point and the plot holes and slow pacing made it a tough rewatch. While once a personal favorite.

Next Week's Pick: "Farming Life In Another World"

Have you had the chance to watch Witch Hunter Robin or any of our previous selections? We’d love to hear your thoughts and  recommendations for future picks...

FAP-335 Berserk Of Gluttony - We Are Fueled By Souls
#335
05/19/2025

In this episode, we talked all about Berserk Of Gluttony Which was a recommendation from Jeb. We touch on Fate’s gluttony skill, which causes hunger that does not end and it also absorbs the stats and abilities of those he kills monsters and humans alike. The show had a fair number of positive points but it also a decent number of negative points as well.

Next Week's Pick: "Witch Hunter Robin"

Have you had the chance to watch Berserk Of Gluttony or any of our previous selections? We’d love to hear your thoughts and ...

FAP-334 GATE Part 2 - Oh Look a Dragon and a Fool
#334
05/12/2025

This week we continue with Gate part 2 an isekai that take a different approach to the usually genre. And just like part 1 it did not disappoint at all. We get some resolutions that we were hoping for. The story progressed in a way that we predicted, it answered most of our questions and gave us a somewhat of an ending. All in all this is a story that is worth a watch just not if you are new to the genre.

Next Week's Pick: "Berserk of Gluttony"

Have you had the chance to watch Gate Pa...

FAP-333 GATE Part 1 - They Brought Swords to a Battle of Tanks
#333
05/05/2025

In this episode we dive into Gate part 1 an isekai that take a different approach to the usually genre and it was a recommendation from "Elf Daddy Girl Issues" and "Danner536". This anime certainly doesn't pull it's punches on how things would likely go when a you pit medieval against modern military dishing out some “f around and find out” pretty much through the whole story. The Character development and story was solid for the show and it was well worth the watch.

Next Week's Pick: "Gate Part 2"

Have you had the chance to watch Gate Pa...

FAP-332 I'm Quitting Heroing - Just Jack and some #TokyoTreat
#332
04/28/2025

This week is a solo week as Rick is out sick and Jack dives into I'm Quitting Heroing. Thank you Goose for the recommendation! This anime changes up the normal anime narrative for Hero style anime in that rather then a journey to defeat th Demon lord our MC Leo is trying to join them. But that is just the start of it. This anime is well worth the watch and is has some comedic moments but it was still an overall solid story. So if you are looking for something that is unique then this may be for...

FAP-331 Goblin Slayer Season 2 - What about the Dice Roll
#331
04/21/2025

This week we get back into the goblin slaying world of Goblin Slayer. This season while our MC is still the main focal point we start to learn more about the others that are with him. We also go to see another side of him in more ways than 1. Add in the world building that they did and this season really helps lay out the foundation for more adventures and solid 3rd season should it ever come.

Next Week's Pick: "I'm Quitting Heroing"

Have you had the chance to watch Goblin Slayer Season 2 or any o...

FAP-330 Bofuri Season 2 - Cute but also a cookie cutter
#330
04/14/2025

This week we dive into the second season of Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense. The story largely just continues on with Maple and her guild, Maple Tree, continue exploring new levels and content in the game they play, New World Online. Maple continues to stick to her strategy of only maxing out her defense stat, continually stumbling upon overpowered, game-breaking skills that baffle the game's developers despite the fact that they were the ones that put them in. On thing more notable is that we felt like Season 2 gives more attention...

FAP-329 Code Geass Season 2 - Indirect but also direct eye contact
#329
04/07/2025

In this episode, we talked all about Code Geass Season 2. We dug into how it picks up right after the Season 1 cliffhanger, with Lelouch living a normal school life until his memories come back and he jumps right back into leading the Black Knights. Things quickly go from a local rebellion to full-blown global war. We also revisited out discussion on how Lelouch’s Geass works, especially its limits as a result of that some of that talk got a little off-track. But overall, we both agreed Season 2 tied up a lot of loose ends from the first season an...

FAP-328 Code Geass Season 1 - Wade Willson and Opinions
#328
03/31/2025

In this episode, we discussed Season 1 of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. And while we spent the episode mostly talking about the show and how it had and amazing story with some great writing. We also pointed out a couple of flaws along with a discussion about the Geass power's limits also got pretty heated and went way off into hypotheticals, maybe derailing things a bit. And the biggest negative we both agreed on? That incredibly frustrating cliffhanger ending!

Next Week's Pick: "Code: Geass Season 2"

Have you had the chance to watch Code: Geass Season 1 or a...

FAP-327 Jormungand Season 2- I am just a Red Shirt With #TokyoTreat
#327
03/28/2025

In this episode, we're diving into season two of Jormungand. This season picks right up where the first left off, continuing the the journey of Jonah and the arms dealer, Koko. Season two delves deeper into Koko ambitious plan she calls "Jormungand" and how it is designed to reshape the global landscape in a maner of speaking and basically position her crew as the world's last soldiers in her mind. The show does maintains its globe-trotting adventure style, while also exploring deeper character development.Throughout this season though there were some significant shifts in character dynamics so to certain...

It explores themes of revenge, morality, weapons trade, giving you a solid story that is packed with action and drama. Although there were some brief moments that seemed slightly out of place, the series remains a...

#325

Have you had the chance to watch The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent or any of our previous selections? We’d love to h...

FAP-324 The Saint's Magic Power Is Omnipotent - Accidentally Passed Over The One Needed
#324
03/03/2025

This week we discuss "Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent" a fantasy romance isekai that is not like your typical action-packed isekais, this anime focuses on character growth through a slow-burn narrative following Sei. Instead of dwelling on this, Sei pursues her passions at a research institute where she discovers her magical abilities and lends a helpting hand to her new home. This isn't for viewers seeking fast-paced action but perfect for those who appreciate a strong female lead in a gradual romantic storyline, making it an excellent "palate cleanser" between more intense shows.

Next Week's Pick: "The...

But then his life changes when he ingests a parasitic kaiju, transforming into a powerful humanoid monster known as Kaiju No. 8. FAP-322 Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka – Deep talks with a special pop in guest!
02/17/2025

This week we talk about Magical Girl Spec Ops Asuka and its dark twist on the magical girl genre. The story follows Asuka, a former magical girl struggling with PTSD, forced back into battle. While the show portrays trauma and military themes, the pacing, forced shifts in tone, and poor character development weaken it as a whole. We debate whether magic undermines the stakes, with Rick arguing it negates physical consequences, while Jack and CJ emphasize the psychological toll.

Next Week's Pick: "Kaiju No. 8"

Have you had the chance to watch Magical Girl Spec Ops...

FAP-318 Let This Grieving Soul Retire - Someone Has a Spending Problem
#318
01/20/2025

We had a blast this week diving into the comedic anime Let This Grieving Soul Retire! It was a wild and interesting adventure filled with humor and action. While we highlighted many of the anime's positive aspects, we couldn't ignore the areas that held it back just a bit. The storytelling and comedy were decent, but we felt the character development could've been stronger.

Next Week's Pick: "The Apothecary Diaries"

This week, it’s just Jack, and he had a great time with this show. The story had solid character growth and a decent story to go along with it. That said, it was a story that was simply enjoyable, an easy watch. It’s one of those shows best enjoyed with your partner and a great pick for those new to the genre since it’s not too heavy.

Next Week's Pick: Let This Grieving Soul Retire
