The Bird Brains Baseball Show

Lamenting a 1-5 week with the Birds, today the boys discuss why analytics based coaching/decision making doesn't necessarily result in "Good Baseball".  Inspiration was taken from Ben McDonald's post game comments.

Down one Brain cell, Derek Pinch Hits for Dave as what's left of our Brains discuss the lack of depth by the starting pitching, chase rates, and a series win against the Yankees.

Dave, Derek, and Jeff review a tough stretch for the Birds and comment on the recent controversial comments made by O's HOFer Mike Bordick. 

April comes to an end and the O's are hovering around .500.  Jeff and Dave talk about some of the promising performances this week and hand out a Bird of Prey award.

Jeff and Dave review some of the early season statistics of the Orioles and what it may mean for this season.  Some reason for hope on offense and some reasons for concern with the starting pitching. 

Dave and Jeff review another week of .500 baseball for the Birds and talk about some of the early season heroes for the O's. 

Lack of fundamentals and a weak opponent = a 3-3 week getting the O's back to .500  Derek joins the discussion from the southern info desk as the discussion drifts around sloppy play and inconsistent bats. 

After a .500 start Dave and Jeff review the new additions to the ballpark experience at Camden Yards.  Early impressions of the team are discussed.  The injury bug has reappeared and the boys talk about the implications of the Zach Eflin injury.

Opening Day is here and the Bird Brains dissect the 26 man roster going into opening day.  The guys discuss the shocking demotion of Dean Kremer and the resulting starting pitching rotation is compared to last year.

Derek joins the Bird Brains and gives his take on how the roster is shaping up and how it's time for the team's stars to play like stars.  Metrics to watch to not repeat last year's slow start are discussed. 1 Week to go!

Still in the midst of spring training, Jeff and Dave project the opening day roster and with those projects look to the Triple group of potential starters.

The boys are back with news and notes for the Orioles. 2026 Spring training is in full swing and  Dave and Jeff discuss the situation at 1st and 3rd base, the ABS system, and Pete Alonso's leadership.

A special on-line only Christmas show was in order to run down what the Orioles already have under the tree this year.  Dave and Jeff discuss the Pete Alonso deal and the other moves the Birds have made so far.

Jeff and Dave wrap up this season with a dive into Mike Elias' post season press conference.  Lots of thoughts and insight into the Orioles off-season and potential moves.

The Orioles continue to flounder and the Bird Brains are digging into what we're seeing on the field.  We also update the current injury list and anticipate the return of several key players to the team.

Another tough week on the field for the Birds and the Bird Brains talk to the fact that it's not only a pitching problem.  Derek Baker pinch hits this week for Dave and talks to the poor hitting and performance by the young Oriole stars.  We also discuss the need for leadership in clubhouse and who might be the guy to do it.  

After a disastrous Bloody Sunday loss to the Reds the Orioles are in need of a rotation piece. Today we welcome Derek Baker to the show as he gives us a few starting pitchers from around MLB that would make sense for the Orioles to pursue in a trade.  

At 7-10 Jeff and Dave discuss the struggles of Orioles pitching, celebrate the resurgence of Cedric Mullins, and update the injury front for the birds.
