There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.1 Kings 8:9

Solomon showed his love for the Lord by walking according to the instructions given him by his father David, except that he offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.1 Kings 3:3

Araunah said “Why has my lord the king come to his servant?” “To buy your threshing floor,” David answered “so I can build an altar to the Lord …”2 Samuel 24:21

David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.2 Samuel 22:1

Then the men of Israel answered the men of Judah “We have ten shares in the king; so we have a greater claim on David than you have…”2 Samuel 19:43

When Hushai came to him, Absalom said “Ahithophel has given this advice. Should we do what he says? If not, give us your opinion.”2 Samuel 17:6

As King David approached Bahurim, a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei son of Gera and he cursed as he came out. He pelted David and all the king’s officials with stones …2 Samuel 16:5-6

The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor.”2 Samuel 12:1

David asked “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”2 Samuel 9:1

Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might.2 Samuel 6:14

Saul and Jonathan - in life they were loved and admired and in death they were not parted. They were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.2 Samuel 1:23

David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters but David found strength in the Lord his God.1 Samuel 30:6

Now Samuel died and all Israel assembled and mourned for him - and they buried him at his home in Ramah. Then David moved down into the Desert of Paran.1 Samuel 25:1

… David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab “Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?” So he left them with the king of Moab and they stayed with him as long as David was in the stronghold.1 Samuel 22:3-4

David said to the Philistine “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.”1 Samuel 17:45

He waited for seven days, the time set by Samuel; but Samuel did not come to Gilgal and Saul’s men began to scatter. So he said “Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings”. And Saul offered up the burnt offering.1 Samuel 13:8-9

“About this time tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin. Anoint him ruler over my people Israel; he will deliver them from the hand of the Philistines. I have looked on my people, for their cry has reached me.”1 Samuel 9:16

But when they said, "Give us a king to lead us," this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord.1 Samuel 8:6

So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if He calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.1 Samuel 3:9

Now Elimelek, Naomi’s husband, died and she was left with her two sons. They married Moabite women, one named Orpah and the other Ruth … Ruth 1:3-4

The people went to Bethel, where they sat before God until evening, raising their voices and weeping bitterly. “Lord, God of Israel” they cried “why has this happened to Israel? Why should one tribe be missing from Israel today?” Judges 21:2-3

Now this man Micah had a shrine and he made an ephod and some household gods and installed one of his sons as his priest. Judges 17:5

Samson said to them “Since you acted like this, I swear that I won’t stop until I get my revenge on you.” Judges 15:7

… Jephthah made a vow to the Lord: “If you give the Ammonites into my hands, whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the Lord’s and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering.” Judges 11:30-31

The Lord said to Gideon “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” Judges 7:7

She (Deborah) sent for Barak … and said to him “The Lord, the God of Israel, commands you: ‘Go, take with you ten thousand men of Naphtali and Zebulun and lead them up to Mount Tabor. I will lead Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his troops to the Kishon River and give him into your hands.’” Judges 4:6-7

After these things, Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died at the age of a hundred and ten. Joshua 24:29

So the Lord gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their ancestors and they took possession of it and settled there. Joshua 21:43

So Joshua said to the Israelites: “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you?” Joshua 18:3

“I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified but with the Lord helping me, I will drive them out... “ Joshua 14:11-12

… all the leaders answered “We have given them our oath by the Lord, the God of Israel and we cannot touch them now.” Joshua 9:19

When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in and they took the city. Joshua 6:20

“Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign”. Joshua 2:12

Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face…. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel. Deuteronomy 34:10,12

“Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.” Deuteronomy 30:11

“… the Lord has declared this day that you are His people, His treasured possession as He promised and that you are to keep all His commands.” Deuteronomy 26:18

“… be careful to do everything they instruct you to do.” Deuteronomy 17:10
