The Bridge Brothers lick their wounds after a tough game weeks in FPL and FWSL.

With a few fires to put out in their teams, it would appear that rolling transfers is not the answer.

While it wasn't good news for our Beyond the Bridge teams, (AFC Croydon and AFC Wimbledon both losing last weekend), it is all smiles for the Chelsea men and women's senior sides.

Matt and Nick talk about a much improved peformance in the Premier League and there is a lot of love for Sonia Bompastor who celebrated her 50th WSL game in charge with an emphatic 6-2 win against Spurs.

With Matt and Nick in attendance for Chelsea's next WSL game against Crystal Palace, they'll report back next week with their match day experiences.

Matt's been in two minds about the success of his wildcard this week. While it resulted in some small green arrows, it was a shame that he could not simultaneously play the bench boost with Calvert-Lewin and Manzambi getting a combined 20 from the sidelines.

Nick's FPL progress continues to be solid as the brothers battle it out for sibling supremacy.

It was better news in FWSL for Matt whose 96 points was still not enough to fly up the leagues.

While the lads admit that they are still novices when it comes to the WSL, the fact that the fantasy game offers great prizes may just focus their minds. Matt is desperately trying to win the opportunity to face time a WSL player so that they can, finally, get a guest on the pod.

Work, the Podcast Show London and Matt's trip to Belgium were three of the reasons for this, (slightly), delayed season round up and World Cup preview!

We start with a Beyond the Bridge round up as Nick recalls AFC Croydon's promotion play-off defeat to Callum, (not Graham), Macfarlane's former team AFC Whyteleafe.

Speaking of Macfarlane, the brothers' hopes are low for the men's FA Cup final against Manchester City. There is also analysis of the women's semi-final exit in the same competition which was also at the hands of the sky blue Cityzens in the North-West!

It's been quite the week in the news for Chelsea FC. An insipid defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion was followed by the dismissal of Manager Liam Rosenior, all amongst increasing fan unrest at the BlueCo ownership. Fast forward to Sunday and the men's seniors, under the guidance of former Croydon FC and AFC Whyteleaf coach Callum Macfarlane, defeated age old rivals Leeds United to book their place in the FA Cup final. Recorded ahead of Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Liam Rosenior's, somewhat inevitable departure at Stamford Bridge, Matt and Nick lament the Blue's Saturday defeat against Manchester United.

It sees that Brothers compare the two teams, (United and Chelsea), both with similar dilemmas, yet the Red Devils seem to be getting the results in the Premier League.

Nick addresses the issues at the heart of Chelsea's poor performances on the pitch and talks about these in the context of wider issues in the beautiful game.

Recorded on Monday, Matt and Nick's assessment about the performance of their Chelsea assets in FPL was massively tempered by the fact that they felt that their beloved club would be soundly defeated at the Amex by Brighton and Hove Albion. Nick referred to it, in advance we should say, as a "blood bath at Brighton."

With us releasing this on Thursday, ahead of the FPL deadline, this all seems pretty accurate with Chelsea offering up one of their worst performances in memory which was swiftly following by the sacking of the manager Liam Rosenior.
