Matt and Nick Homer are back for the upcoming football season with two new football podcasts, The Bridge Brothers Podcast and FPL Bridge Brothers. The first of these is an irreverent take on weekly football stories where we cover topics such as non-league, EFL, the Premier League, WSL and much more. Our second show continues our Fantasy Premier League journey as initially documented in our podcast FPL Pod VS Tok, but is a more focused and streamlined show which follows the lads' journey as they continue to out-do each other in their mini-leagues and cup competitions. So welcome aboard for...

WSL and Premier League Frustration for the Blues!

The theme of this episode is one of frustration and start with our "Beyond the Bridge" segment with Nick recounting AFC Croydon's FA Cup exit at the hands of Leatherhead.

We then go back to the Bridge to recount Chelsea's 1-1 draw against Villa in the WSL with the lads hoping that Ramirez and Malard and return to the starting XI asap! Nick also asks if fans are beginning to get frustrated with Manager Sonia Bompastor.

We finish the show with Premier League chat as Arsenal get the better of Chelsea at the Emirates, but...

A View From The Bridge, The Cherry Red and The Mayfield!
09/04/2026

The lads start by recounting an exciting week of football for them both.

Matt watched Chelsea beat Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Women's Champions League qualifier game and Nick saw the Men's Team take on Luton in the League Cup. We also squeeze in some "Beyond the Bridge" analysis as Nick recaps AFC Croydon's win against Cray Valley Papermills.

The Bridge Brothers then finish the show with Premier League chat, including their views on Chelsea's 4-3 victory against Brighton and Hove Albion and this Sunday's game against Arsenal. Will that be a...

09/03/2026

We open the episode with a tale of two benches, while Matt laments leaving 31 points on his, Nick rejoices that he reaped all the benefits from his subs with a well-timed bench boost.

As the lads look ahead, Matt is also wondering whether to stick or twist, while Nick already plans to ring the changes.

The brothers finish the show by sharing their early thoughts on the new FWSL game. It's all very exciting below are the deadlines and codes if you would like to compete against the chaps in FWSL and FPL.

Game One Reflections and a New Era for FWSL!

08/28/2026

The Bridge Brothers reflect on a mixed showing for their FPL teams in game week one! Matt laments leaving Sangare on the bench and Nick is left frustrated by the overall performance of his side.

However, it's a new dawn and a new game week as the lads prepare their teams and go again. Will they ring the changes, or hold firm on their original line-ups?

Alongside some tangents, such as whether or not Chelsea should launch a Madness collection in keeping with Sunderland's Elvis inspired away kit, the lads also talk...

In this first edition of The Bridge Brothers Podcast, the lads discuss the highs and lows of Chelsea's away win at local rivals Fulham.

On the plus side: Rogers, JoĂŁo Pedro and Palmer looked on fire, with the later of these players benefitting from their World Cup omissions.

On the downside, Chelsea's defensive problems persist with Robert Sanchez continuing to have an error or two in his game. Will Mike Penders end up being the number 1 over the next few weeks. We'll wait and see!

The lads also talk about Chelsea's move i...

Here We Go Again: The Return of FPL Bridge Brothers!
08/21/2026

After recounting their match day experience when seeing the Chelsea men senior team take on Real Sociedad, the lads soon get into talking FPL.

While the Chelsea match does give the Brothers much food for thought, Matt still has a few big decisions to make while Nick's team is pretty much locked in. Who will triumph as the Premier League starts this weekend?

Matt also has a go at explaining the changes to FPL points rules this season, although gauging from Nick's reaction, it's probably best that our listeners check these updates on the official...

Work, the Podcast Show London and Matt's trip to Belgium were three of the reasons for this, (slightly), delayed season round up and World Cup preview!

After listing some of Chelsea's best Belgium players over the years, the lads then review their FPL seasons. Matt's was a tale of reward through perseverance and other priorities for Nick saw him drop below his usual high standards. However, as the brothers discuss, Nick got his priorities right!

The FPL chat then sees the lads continue their new tradition of presenting The Bridge Brothers' End of...

As the Premier League draws to a close, the Bridge Brothers find themselves crawling to the FPL finishing line. Nick is, like Chelsea, is already thinking about next season and Matt is trying to get some crumbs of comfort by winning one of his work mini-leagues.

The lads chat about their game week 37 performances, which was well and truly still in play at the time of recordings as well as their plans for the final game week 38.

Matt and Nick also bid farewell to Aerial WSL and talk about whether there will be...

We start with a Beyond the Bridge round up as Nick recalls AFC Croydon's promotion play-off defeat to Callum, (not Graham), Macfarlane's former team AFC Whyteleafe.

Speaking of Macfarlane, the brothers' hopes are low for the men's FA Cup final against Manchester City. There is also analysis of the women's semi-final exit in the same competition which was also at the hands of the sky blue Cityzens in the North-West!

The lads' hopes are also not much higher after reviewing the club's Premier League clash with Liverpool last weekend with the brother's also...

The long and winding road that is this season's Premier League and, by extension, FPL is coming to an end. But with 2 more game weeks to go, the Brothers discuss their performances in double game week 36, (which was still ongoing at the time of recording), as well as their plans to finish with a flourish as the end of another campaign draws near.

While the Prem is in its penultimate week, the WSL heads towards its last game. Unlike the well heeled and well sponsored FPL app, the women's game needs to contemplate life without fantasy...

"Score a hat trick or go home" is a phrase that we use referencing Aston Villa's Anna Patten with Matt hoping for a brilliant performance from her to continue his good Fantasy WSL season.

However, we could also use it towards Nick who is lacing up his boots again as part of AFC Croydon's What a Life Cup and is fundraiser to improve youth facilities for the next generation of footballing talent. The Brothers also discuss whether Nick qualifies as a celebrity by virtue as co-presenter of this very podcast! If you're interested in attending and...

It's been quite the week in the news for Chelsea FC. An insipid defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion was followed by the dismissal of Manager Liam Rosenior, all amongst increasing fan unrest at the BlueCo ownership. Fast forward to Sunday and the men's seniors, under the guidance of former Croydon FC and AFC Whyteleaf coach Callum Macfarlane, defeated age old rivals Leeds United to book their place in the FA Cup final. It's a funny ol' game sometimes!

The Bridge Brothers talk about all of this as well as the Chelsea Women's 4-1 victory over...

With Matt having now exhausted all his chips in this season's FPL, the older Bridge Brother reflects, (in true Pep Guardiola style), on what went well and would could have been better. With Nick still having his bench boost and triple captain to play, is there still one last twist in battle for sibling supremacy.

While Matt talks about his relief that all he needs to do is play one transfer in FPL this week, things are not so simple when it comes to Aerial WSL with the lads having a good few chips to play...

Recorded ahead of Chelsea's 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Liam Rosenior's, somewhat inevitable departure at Stamford Bridge, Matt and Nick lament the Blue's Saturday defeat against Manchester United.

It sees that Brothers compare the two teams, (United and Chelsea), both with similar dilemmas, yet the Red Devils seem to be getting the results in the Premier League.

Nick addresses the issues at the heart of Chelsea's poor performances on the pitch and talks about these in the context of wider issues in the beautiful game.

Recorded on Monday, Matt and Nick's assessment about the performance of their Chelsea assets in FPL was massively tempered by the fact that they felt that their beloved club would be soundly defeated at the Amex by Brighton and Hove Albion. Nick referred to it, in advance we should say, as a "blood bath at Brighton."

With us releasing this on Thursday, ahead of the FPL deadline, this all seems pretty accurate with Chelsea offering up one of their worst performances in memory which was swiftly following by the sacking of the manager Liam Rosenior.

Matt and Nick start the episode with chat about AFC Croydon and AFC Wimbledon's run of results as well as Chelsea's under 21s progressing in the Premier League 2 competition, anything is better than talking about the senior men's squad right now.

With that in mind, the lads start by recapping their recent visit to Kings Meadow to see Chelsea Women defeat a resilient Tottenham 2-1 in the quarter final of the FA Cup. Alongside securing Chelsea's progress into the semis, the game not going to extra time meant that Nick could get his shopping at a...

Matt and Nick return for FPL Bridge Brothers episode 29 and the conversation focuses on GW 32 wildcard choices as well as chip usage for double game week 33 and the blank in 34.

With the Bridge Brothers continuing to compete against each other the question remains, will Matt's double game week obsession come good, or will Nick's free hit strategy prove to be a genius move?

The chaps sign-post to more WSL chat in future game weeks, but the Bundesliga side FC Union Berlin's appointment of Marie-Louise Eta gets the lads talking about how good the...

Despite decent good results for our teams beyond the bridge, it's been another difficult week for Chelsea, this time for our men and women's sides.

The Bridge Brothers start with an analysis of Chelsea's 1-1 draw against London City Lionesses in the WSL. The blues' UCL ambitions have been dented at the Den by LCL.

We then move from Nikita Parris to Paris Saint Germain with the French Champions taking another opportunity to thrash Chelsea in the men's Champions League.

In episode 28, The Bridge Brothers take stock of contrasting FPL fortunes. Matt's team, albeit slowly down, is still riding a tide of green arrows, whilst Nick is finding a way to kick start his season.

Despite Matt's good form, he does have Manchester City and Arsenal players that he needs to bench for their blank in game week 31. However, he has since realised that, instead of selling Marc Guéhi like he says on the pod, he can bench all these players if he choses to.

Matt is riding on the crest of a green arrow wave as the Bridge Brothers sail into episode 27. The question is whether he can keep the good momentum going with blank game weeks on the horizon. A good chip strategy will be needed. When it comes to the young of the two siblings, Nick's charges need to re-discover their form if they want to finish strongly and ensure that the younger of the siblings doesn't decide to retire from the game completely next season.

With a 4-1 win over Aston Villa and a 2-4 victory over Wrexham, it's dreamland for The Bridge Brothers as the Chelsea men head to Paris. As you'll find in next week's show, those dreams were ended at the Parc des Princes, but we'll stay upbeat for now.

With Chelsea looking better in the Premier League, the chat includes references to "new R9 elect" Jõao Pedro, goalkeeper dilemmas, squad selection, controversial centre circle huddles and, of course, VAR. The Video Assistant Referee was actually on the Blues' side for the two games covered this week.

However, in this episode of The Bridge Brothers Podcast, which was recorded after the defeat to Arsenal, the lads lament more bad set piece defending and red cards which have hampered Chelsea in their bid to be challengers to the Premier League title.

In episode 26, Matt and Nick lament another tough game week with both siblings praying for strong performances from Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo in Manchester United's game against Everton.

Perhaps ironically, it is the Chelsea triple-up which has been at the centre of the Bridge Brothers' anguish which leads Matt to conclude that he needs to trust his gut more when it comes to playing FPL.

There's props for Fulham, consensus about "Doctor" Tottenham being a team to target and a bit of pizza chat thrown in for good measure.
