Scripture Passage: Philippians 2:12-18

We studied Philippians 2:12–18, which calls us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling and to do all things without grumbling or disputing. Because God is at work in us through Christ, we grow through effort empowered by Him and rely on His grace to shape our desires, serve one another with humility, and shine as lights in the world.

Scripture Passage: Philippians 2:5-11

We studied Philippians 2:5–11, which calls us to set our minds on Christ, whose humility reveals true humanity and the selfless character of God. Because Jesus became man to live the obedience we could not, bear our guilt, and rise for our life, we considered His identity as truly God and man, His saving work, and how belonging to Him frees us to live for our neighbors.

Scripture Passage: Philippians 2:1-11

We studied Philippians 2:1–11, where Paul calls the church to unity through shared love, compassion, and humility. Because Christ humbled Himself for us and God exalted Him, we reject selfish ambition, count others more significant than ourselves, and follow His mind by putting one another’s needs first in our shared life.

Scripture Passage: 2 Timothy 4:1-22

We studied 2 Timothy 4 and were called to finish well by holding fast to Jesus and the gospel of grace. Because Christ is our only hope in life and death, we saw in Paul’s final requests—a coat, faithful friends, and the Scriptures—the ordinary means by which God sustains us with faith and joy to the end.

Scripture Passage: Philippians 1:18b-26

We learned in Philippians 1:18b–26 that we were made to magnify Christ, making His worth visible whether by life or by death. Because Christ died in our place to reconcile us to God and now energizes our life in Him, we magnify Him by relying on His provision, rejoicing over Him as our ultimate treasure, representing Him with boldness, and serving others for their progress and joy in the faith.

Scripture Passage: Philippians 1:12-18a

We studied Philippians 1:12–18a and saw that the gospel advances through adversity as God turns hardship into an assignment to know Christ, make Him known, and strengthen others. Because Jesus accomplished God’s greatest work through His death and resurrection, we can rejoice as the gospel advances through evangelism, the edification of believers, and joy rooted in Christ rather than circumstances or people.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 73

In Psalm 73, we saw the ache of the gap between God's promised goodness and the suffering we actually meet in a broken world. In the sanctuary, the Lord reorients us: the wicked are seen in their true end, our own need for mercy is exposed, and the risen Christ becomes our sure refuge. Because Jesus has suffered, died, and been raised for us, it is good to be near God.

Scripture Passage: Acts 16:11-15; Philippians 1:1-6

In Philippians 1:5, Paul praises the believers' koinonia — their partnership in the gospel from the first day. Like California redwoods whose shallow roots intertwine in groves, God's design is that we grow tall together, not alone. From Lydia's open home to the Philippian jailer's family, the gospel bound unlikely people into one body — servants, saints, and siblings under King Jesus. We were reminded that fellowship is a gift to receive and a shared life to enter — not an event to attend but a people to belong to.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 24

In Psalm 24, we studied David's song of the King of Glory who created all things and calls a generation onto His hill. Because we cannot stand in His presence by our own righteousness, He gives us the righteousness of Christ — the only One with clean hands, lifted up for us. We were invited to let the King of Glory in with the boast of children about their heavenly Father.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 23

In Psalm 23, we saw the Lord as the shepherd who provides rest, guidance, comfort, joy, and hope for His people. Because Jesus is the Good Shepherd who laid down his life for the sheep and will bring them safely home, we were called to trust him personally and rest in his all-sufficient care.

Scripture Passage: Psalm 20-21

We studied Psalm 20 and 21, where God's people pray for the King before battle and praise Him for victory after. Psalm 20 calls us to trust in the name of the Lord our God; Psalm 21 calls us to rejoice in His saving strength. Because Christ has already won the victory through His death and resurrection, we bring our daily battles to Him in prayer and praise Him for the deliverance He has secured.

In Psalm 19, we studied how God discloses Himself through the world and through His Word, calling us to see His glory and treasure His law. Because creation leaves us without excuse and Christ Himself is our reward and Redeemer, we were led through God's general revelation, His special revelation, and our desperate need for cleansing from hidden and presumptuous sin.
