Church Chortles

Catholics have books in their Bible that us blue collar, nondenominationals do not. Tobit, Sirach, 1 & 2 Maccabees, and more; but are we missing out on valuable scripture? We find out today on the Church Chortles podcast, as we read one chapter from every book from the apocrypha.

See you for Season 3, Chortlers!

Today we recap S2, talk about our plans this summer, and reminisce on our walks with Jesus over the years. Also, for the first time ever, we recorded this in person! (This took so much setup so don't get used to it) Hope you enjoy!

While states like California and Texas may be obvious when it comes to their stance on Christianity, what about the other 48? In today's episode, the boys try to guess blindly where all of these US States rank. Feel free to play along, and the true ranking from top to bottom is revealed at the end! (comment below how you did!)

In today's episode, the boys attempt to keep up with a game of Bible Trivia designed to make us stumble. Things may have started off easy, but these questions got insanely difficult towards the end... Play along with us as you listen, and let us know how you did in the comments!

We've come a long way since the election of '24 episode of the podcast, and so much has taken place in the United States. Today, the Chortles gather together to address the issue of whether or not America is actually a Christian Nation. Is either side of the political spectrum off the hook? Were our founding fathers actually believers? Why did Trump post a picture of himself as Jesus? All these questions will be addressed in episode 33!

In today's episode, we might have one of the coziest installments of the Church Chortles podcast yet to date. Everyone loves a good would-you-rather question, everyone loves coziness, so why not combine them? We hope you enjoy, and make sure to comment your own strong opinions down below!

Welcome back Chortlers! Seeing as the day we post this is the NCAA Basketball National Championship, this topic seems fitting: are we putting way too much emotional stake in our sports teams? How closely can we follow these fandoms without it being too much of a distraction? Carter probably has a lot to say about the topic. We hope you all enjoy!

If Jesus were on the earth in the flesh today (He's still VERY Alive!!!), which video games would He choose to play? Today the boys decide which video games would be the Lord's favorite (and least favorite), and things certainly got heated. We hope you enjoy!

In today's episode, the boys gathered up some of the juiciest Christian confessions on Reddit to share with the group. Some of these stories were concerning, some of them were shameful, and some were downright diabolical. We hope you enjoy!

With all the recent events happening the United States, conspiracy theories are all over the place. However, due to the graphic nature of most of those conspiracies, we figured it best we avoid talking about those and focus on Christian conspiracies. Did the Bible predict 9/11? Is the Vatican really hiding Jesus' foreskin? We'll get to the bottom of that today on the Church Chortles podcast!

In today’s podcast, the boys ranked from easiest to hardest which VeggieTales characters that they could beat in a fight. Let us know what you thought in the comments. Enjoy!

Indiana University recently won a football national championship for the first time, and all of the attention is on their Heisman Quarterback. Fernando Mendoza, a faithful and practicing Catholic, and it has highlighted the conflict that can arise when imperfect people represent Christ imperfectly. Today, the Chortles discuss if hyper criticism of Christian athletes is valid or unwarranted; we hope you enjoy!

Howdy, Chortlers! Although it's a little late into the year for resolution content, it's never too late to start thinking about change. In today's episode, the boys discuss the resolutions they had set the year previously and how well they did keeping them. Then, the conversation shifts towards 2026 and all we hope the Lord accomplishes this year.

Merry Christmas Chortlers! In celebration of the season, today we'll be having a cozy and jolly good time. Along with that, a conversation about materialism and the distraction from the reason for the season is a major talking point. We hope you enjoy, and keep the Christ in Christmas!

Howdy, Chortlers! In the crazy emerging world of Ai, Jesus is one of the many chatbots that have become popular. Today, we will be poking and prodding Ai Jesus to test Him in character and knowledge, much like the Pharisees did to the actual Jesus. As expected, things went off the rails pretty fast. We hope you enjoy!

Howdy, Chortlers! How well do you know your Bible? If you consider yourself a scholar, this might just be your lucky day. Today we're gonna play a game where we each have come up with a list of Bible verses, some real and some fake. Feel free to play along and keep score as we compete to see who can guess the most right!

Howdy, Chortlers! There's an argument taking place recently about which among the Church Chortle podcast hosts is the greatest. In order to solve the answer to that question, we took an online quiz that assessed which of the 12 disciples we are most like! Hope you enjoyed the episode, and here's a link to the quiz right here: https://www.discipletypes.com/

Happy halloween chortlers out there! Some Christians might get mad that I (Peyton) just wished y'all a Happy Halloween. Is that justified? Does it make sense biblically for us to protest the holiday? Well ladies and gentlemen, that's what the boys are discussing in episode twenty. Hope y'all enjoy!

In today's episode, the boys will be sorting through a long list of animals to determine which ones would choose Jesus, which ones go to Purgatory, and which ones would probably be atheists. The world has been waiting for this conversation... dogs, geese, dinosaurs: listen now to find out what they'd believe!

In today’s episode of the pod, the Churtles confronted one another about personal issues in order to practice handling church conflict. Enjoy!

Peyton YT: https://youtube.com/@thepeytonwright?si=AsZLCDwtphtzgGp- Twitch: https://twitch.tv/thepeytonwright

Ryan YT: https://youtube.com/@theryanwright?si=mHsxkP8DEdWtJ51Y Twitch: https://twitch.tv/ryanwright

In today’s episode of the pod, the Churtles have a small discussion/debate about whether it is necessary to go to Bible College to go into ministry. Safe to say they struggled to come to common ground. Enjoy!

Howdy Chortlers! It's been five months since out last episode, but we're back and better than ever! The first episode of season 2 operates as a catch-up, and A LOT has happened. Peyton got a job at a church and married his wonderful wife. Carter went on six vacations and worked a fake job. Ryan started getting paid by the church he was interning for and also married his wonderful wife. And Kyle has re-found his footing with the Lord in the wake of some big changes in his life. We're glad to back listeners, and we're not going anywhere...

In today's episode, the boys go through all the major sects of Christianity and decide which one belongs in the best tiers, the mid tiers, and the worst tiers. However, instead of doing a divisive method based off of strict theology, we all made our decision based off a pure vibe check. Try not to take it too seriously!

Kanye's been saying some pretty crazy stuff recently. Because of that, it seems like a great time to talk about the history of Ye's relationship with Christianity. From the lows of equating himself to Jesus to the highs of hit album Jesus is King, it's certainly been a bumpy ride. Was the real Kanye, still a Christian, cloned and killed? We discuss this and all other recent controversies in today's episode.

Howdy, everyone! In a time where the sun goes weeks at a time without shining, Peyton has become quite flustered to the point of detrimental sadness. In order to cure himself, he has reached out to the three Chortles in attempt to cure himself. Will their therapeutical analysis get him anywhere, or will Peyton be trapped in perpetual cold-induced sadness forever? What does Jesus have to say about this topic?

Howdy Chortlers! For the twelfth installment of the podcast, the boys recall their memories of Christian conventions (such as Passion or TCTC) and how their experiences have played a part in their faith.

Howdy, Chortlers! After the events of Ryan's engagement, both brothers are getting married in 2025! The boys discuss both Wright boys' engagement stories, the idea of getting married young, the differences between Christian culture and secular culture surrounding engagement, and Carter's despair being single.

In this episode (recorded during the transition from 2024 to 2025), the boys celebrate together by discussing how they can improve themselves in the new year, from a fitness, discipline, and spiritual perspective. Also... Ryan, Carter, and Kyle are getting on a plane to California in three hours so that Ryan can propose.

In this episode, the boys discuss Black Friday, their own Christmas lists, and materialism from a Biblical perspective.

Disclaimer - This episode reveals the political beliefs of us four and is in now way intended to be a weaponized discussion, but rather, we aim for encouragement for those who might disagree with us to remain in the hope of Jesus Christ during the next four years and what might be to come. Thanks for listening Chortlers, and we hope you enjoy the episode!

An awareness of your own spiritual gifts is one of the most valuable pieces of information a Christian could know about themselves. Today, the boys take a spiritual gifts test and then decide if we agree with the results about each other.

In this episode, the boys discuss the possibility of miracles and how God has moved miraculously in their own lives.
