The passing of a person can cause us to ask about our name and what kind of a person we are. This ought to be about Christlikeness for the Christian. Ecclesiastes 6:1-6 shows us that Knowing God is the key to having satisfaction in life. The world looks for satisfaction in so many different areas, and yet satisfaction is found in God. Living life from the earthly perspective alone leads us to only see what the world has to offer. Our hearts are looking for satisfaction, value and significance in my circumstances. We must understand our circumstances in light of God's character and not God's character in light of circumstances. We view the world despite our circumstances because our circumstances change while God does not change.

It's clearly seen in life and the people who surround us, what you treasure drives your life. Solomon was a rich man who shoed us that money was not enough to satisfy your life. In Ecclesiastes 5:10-20 Solomon teaches us three lessons from money when you fear God. First, Solomon teaches us that money teaches you about your heart. The desire for something more is not the problem, it is trying to fulfill that desire in all of the wrong ways that is the problem. Scripture makes it clear that there is a universal problem, and that problem is sin. Government is a man made, yet imperfect solution to the problem. The second point, that Ecclesiastes 5:8-9 makes is that Human Government has been ordained by God even though it is imperfect. This continues a major theme that is seen throughout Scripture, that God can work even through the imperfect and broken.

This week, Pastor Matt continues preaching through Ecclesiastes 5:4-7 on instruction to worship God in the right way. This week, Pastor Matt shows us through Ecclesiastes that we are to approach God responsively. When you respond to God, you are making a commitment, and that commitment to Christ is very sacred. Responding to God is not something that is to be taken lightly, it comes as a work of the Holy Spirit through you.

This week Pastor Matt preaches through Ecclesiastes 5:1-3. In this passage Solomon writes about how we are to worship God in the right way. These first three verses of chapter 5 tell us that our approach to God matters. We are to approach God intentionally. The worship of God in the Old and New Testament are very different. We are to make a priority of gathering with other believers because the Holy Spirit now resides in us and not a temple. This approach. matters to worship, it is more than just showing up to a worship service.

This week we study Matthew 22:15-18. In this passage Jesus teaches 3 ways to live as citizens of a heavenly kingdom in a foreign land. First we are to be obedient to God as a thoughtful example. Our obedience to God should stand out and be an example to others around us of how to live on mission as a Christian. In Ecclesiastes 4:13-16 Solomon writes 2 ways to ensure that you are motivated by character, and not by achievement. First, we must be humble enough to grow. Growth often takes much humility. The arrogant king is the one who stops growing, but the humble king will continue to grow. Second, we are to live in obedience to God because all of us will be forgotten by people. Our earthly legacy will not last. Maybe it will survive a generation or two, but in the end our legacy will be forgotten. This challenges us to live our life in obedience to...

This week Pastor Blake takes us through 1 Samuel 15 to see what the evidence in obedience is. He shows us that desire is an evidence of obedience. Then he shows us through this passage that worship is a clear evidence of obedience. Finally, he shows us that fear is an evidence of obedience.

We live in a world where oppression can be seen all around us. Oppression reveals two things, the first thing it reveals is the truth of the human condition. Humans are fallen, and in our fallen state we find ways to oppress the weak. Second, it reveals the limitations of the world. There are limitations in this world due to the fallen nature of the world.

Our World is Broken But God's Plan is NotOur World is Ending But God's Plan is Not

First, Hannah understood that her son belonged to the Lord. Second, Hannah's commitment to God came at an emotional cost. Third, Hannah prayed for her child more than she parented him. Finally, Hannah supported her son more than she provided for him.

First, God has marked life with different seasons. Going through life you are going to have different seasons. Second, God has created life to be lived by faith. Third, God has given you your life to be enjoyed, and finally God is ultimately in control.

Our partnership with other church in the KBC is both missional and relational.

Many people today hate their life or feel as if they hate their life. Ecclesiastes 2:18-26 teaches us not to hate our life. The first way to not hate your life is to put money in its place. Money can dominate somebodies life, and cause so much stress. Solomon teaches us to put money in its place. Second, put work in its place as well. Do not let work dominate your life and become the reason that you live. Work can become an idol, or cause you to hate your life.

There are two questions to ask with this passage when studying. First, do I live for myself or do I live for God? You want to ask yourself this question on a regular basis. Second, am I living for now or am I living for eternity? How are you living your life?

First, the Resurrection of Jesus is a miracle. It is never to be downplayed, the miracle that occurs when Jesus resurrects from that grave. Next, the resurrection is a message. It is more than an event, it was meant as a message that was to go to the whole world. Finally, the resurrection is a mission. Jesus was on a mission when He came down to earth, and when He was on that cross He was on a mission.

Jesus tells that He has come as the King of Kings to rule. We know that this is going to happen in the future. However, Jesus has also already came as Messiah.

Belief that you have to carry it all is a damaging belief. You have a God who loves you, and is going to help you carry the load. Just give it to Him. You also believe that you have to do something great that will leave a mark. Many people feel like they have to leave a legacy through doing great things. This is a different mindset than the believer that follows Christ. Finally, many people find value in their life through achievements, what they have done, or what they are leaving behind. Our value is not in that. <...

Ecclesiastes 1:12-18 shows us 2 ways that wisdom exposes how we view the world. First we see that wisdom exposes the independent life as tragic. Second, wisdom exposes the independent life as painful.

There are 2 foundational assumptions in the life of a believer. The first foundational assumption is that we are to trust in God. We live a real life that has real struggles and we are to trust God even in the middle of those struggles. I must avoid trusting in myself and rather I will trust in God. The second foundational assumption is that I will not find my value in what this world offers, my significance comes from God. People often find value in work, but value doesn't come from there it comes from God.

Ephesians 6:13-15 shows the 4 requirements for the spiritual battle. Paul says that it requires an ongoing commitment to the Lord, it requires our life to be informed by the truth, it requires us to find our sufficiency in Jesus' righteousness, and it requires us to rest in the Gospel.

Ephesians 6:5-9 discusses 3 simple truths to remember as a Christian in the workplace. The first truth is that Your faithfulness in the Workplace is Faithfulness to Christ. The second truth is that your work has eternal consequences. Finally, Your leadership in the workplace reflects what you believe about the Lord.

There are 2 keys for the Christian hoe found in Ephesians 6:1-4. The first key is that Obedience leads to blessing and the second key is to practice leadership not lording.

Our marriage is to be more than a relationship, it is to be a way that we witness to others about Jesus. Our lives are to be a living example of the transforming power of God. Marriage is built on Love from God for the purpose of caring for one another and it is also built on the design of God for meeting the physical needs of the man and woman.

This week, Pastor Cam takes us through Acts 2:42-47 and shows us the 2 keys to the growth and formation of the Early Church. We see that this passage shows us the early church gathered, and that the gathering was intentional. They were individually devoted to the Word and gathered together with a purpose, not just gathering to gather. Luke also writes about the early church being Unified by the Holy Spirit on Missions. The church was unified, not because of an individual person, but because of the work the Holy Spirit was doing in the church.
