A 39-year-old man was sentenced to life plus ten years for sexual crimes against his girlfriend's 13-year-old daughter, plus, a 17-year-old in Gulfport was involved in a drive-by shooting that led to his arrest. The other suspect has yet to be found.

Former DeSoto County youth minister and high school basketball coach Lindsey Whiteside has once again had her federal trial delayed. Whiteside, who previously coached basketball at DeSoto Central High School and was a minister at Getwell Church, will now stand trial in the federal courthouse in Greenville on Oct. 13. As cases of the flesh-eating new world screwworm rise, Mississippi has yet to be one of the states impacted by what officials call an agricultural nightmare.
