The White-Caps of Sevierville

We’re in Appalachia this Spooky Saturday -specifically Sevierville, Tennessee, home of Dolly Parton and one of East Tennessee’s darkest true stories: the White Caps.

In the 1890s, this masked vigilante group terrorized Sevier County in the name of “morality,” using threats, beatings, and intimidation. What started as moral policing quickly escalated into murder, trials, and a public hanging.

This is the true story of how it all unraveled.

The LaLaurie Mansion

This week, we're exploring one of New Orleans's most haunted addresses, 1140 Royal Street, aka the LaLaurie Mansion. In the 1800s, Madame Delphine LaLaurie (whose husbands all died mysteriously) was exposed for torturing many enslaved people there, inspiring Kathy Bates's character in American Horror Story: Coven. The particularly horrifying horrors of Madame LaLaurie's time in the home give the property a lingering negative energy to this day. And, for some reason, Nicholas Cage once owned the house.
