Capt. Marty's Outer Banks Fishing Report & Stories

Fishing over the weekend was interesting to say the least. Some spots were hot - some spots were not! I'll explain in this report!

Here's another one from Capt. Marty's youth down at Ponce Inlet, FL. After reading the book "Ra Expeditions" Marty and his friends Jeff & Bob decided to set out in his skiff from Ponce Inlet to Titusville, about 60mi. away, where his aunt lived. About halfway through the excursion they ended up at Mosquito Lagoon, and that's where the trouble started...

Happy Friday everyone! We do have some weather on the way for the weekend but we have had some good fishing over the last few days. Hopefully it sticks around after the weekend but we will see!

Lots of fishing done in some spots... not so much fishing done in other spots. What does that mean? I'll explain that in this report.

We are getting deeper and deeper into the Outer Banks fall fishing season and it is becoming obvious in a lot of ways. Not too busy of a day on the water yesterday but there were fish caught for those that did go. We will talk about that in this report. 

I'll tell you what... a day can make a lot of difference in the fishing world. The wind switching cause the fish to get confused a tad, but not too confused. There were still fish caught. I'll do my best to keep you from being confused in this report.

Welcome to a brand new week! Our first full week of October. I'm sure yall remember the old Wendy's commercial years ago that said "Where's The Beef?!" Well, I'm gonna tell you where the MEAT is in this report (and there's A LOT of it)!!!

We are about to roll into a weekend that will hopefully yield some great results on the fishing front. What we have had has been great on all fronts! I'll talk all about it in this report. 

Welcome to October! Fishing is... well, it is decent in some areas, not the greatest in others and not too shabby in others! Hopefully once the highway gets open things will start popping again down on Hatteras Island. I'll get you all caught up on what's taking place in this report.

Knocking September in the head with things sloowwwlly getting back to normal on the fishing front. There is a little bit of life out there so listen up and I'll get you up to speed.

The ocean is calming down, highway 12 is getting repaired much quicker than anticipated, and that's great! Still getting back in the swing of things on the fishing front so I'll get you up to speed with what has been happening in this report.

Happy Monday morning! This is the first day after a big blow from last week. I mean, you can only play Twister and Monopoly but so long before it's time to fish again. Believe it or not there has been some fishing being done. Keep the folks of Hatteras Island in your prayers.

The year was 1979 and I took a trip like no other on a boat in the Florida Keys. Sounds like Gilligan I know, but this has a much more pleasant ending and was a lot more fun too! 

Heavy winds and heavy surf have put a little bit of a damper on things over the last few days but so not too much to report on in that regard, BUT I do want to give you a fall fishing forecast in this report so listen up!

The wind is picking up, the ocean is starting to get pretty stirred up and in the words of our friends down on Hatteras Island.. "It's bloooowwwwwingggg"! Still some fishing taking place but that is likely to change over the next few days so let me get you up to speed with what is happening at the moment.

Fishing is getting better in some areas and lacking in others today. I'll explain what I mean in this report.

Happy Monday everyone! Lots to talk about from the weekend. Fishing continues to be pretty daggum good. Will it continue with whatever this little system is that's forming up off the coast later this week? Only time will tell but we will take what we can get for now!

After a bit of a hiatus, Capt. Marty and Justin are back and joining them this month is Capt. Aaron Wright of the Outrigger from the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center. Aaron was Capt. Marty's mate years ago and has climbed through the ranks to be known as one of the finest captains of the Oregon Inlet fleet. This show is full of great information and of course loads of laughs! We are happy to be back after a rocky summer (which we will explain) and we hope you'll enjoy the show!

We have some breaking news on the fishing front plus some of the BEST marlin fishing I've seen in the last 10 years!! Gonna talk about all of that and make the full loop of everything else in this report.

Kind of a breezy day yesterday so that put a slight damper on SOME things. That east wind did help out in a few different areas though. I'll explain all of that in this report. 

Hard to believe we are halfway through the month of September already! Got lots to talk about. Sailfish offshore, Red Drum in the back country... All great things!

Sorry if I sound like I'm talking through a tin can. I got a new phone and I'm still getting use to it. We are in the middle of some of the best bill fishing of the summer. I'll get you up to speed with that and all the other fishing in this report.
