Everyone you know has an opinion about marriage - why it's good or bad... why it's worth it or not... whether it's a gift or a curse. But, since God's the one who invented it, shouldn't we ask the question: "What's God's Purpose For Marriage?" That's exactly what we did in this message from our URGENT CARE series.

In Week One of the URGENT CARE series, Pastor Fike presented the Biblical Reality that everything Jesus did was all in an effort to reunite His Father with His Father's Children. Mission Accomplished... but, the question that looms for us, (if, in fact, Christianity is NOT a Religion, but a Relationship), is... HOW? This week, we'll delve into that question.

There is a common sentiment about the Easter Story - a group-think diagnosis of what took place that blessed morning. But, as in the case of Urgent Care Professionals, very often, the initial diagnosis only really attends to the loudest symptoms. What if Easter is about more just a risen Savior? What if the very thing Jesus accomplished that day is what He spent His life proclaiming? Could it be that Resurrection Sunday is not about the formation of a new religion… but, rather, something much more URGENT?

As we close out this RESIDENT ALIENS series, there's one last meaningful reality Peter wants us to remember - that the "now-and-not-yet" is our reality, and we're all going to have to simply acclimate to it. Find out why from "friend of the house" Jonathan Madrid.

Sometimes, certain passages of scripture can lead to Kanye-levels of exasperation. This is one of those passages. The Apostle Peter, in an attempt to galvanize and encourage the displaced, dispersed, disheartened “Resident Aliens” spread across the diaspora reminds them that they are to “be holy”. Like… what? How? Maybe “holiness” isn’t what we think it is…

Any Cultural Anthropologist would most certainly pay attention to the parts of culture that bring joy, elation, warmth and cheer. But, you can't evaluate a people-group without leaning in to the "sore subject" of PAIN. Pain's a part of human life BEFORE Jesus... but what about after? Why should pain persist as a part of Christian Life? What is the Purpose of Pain?

Right... but, what if we don't?
What does it look like when a person decides NOT to Prepare Him Room?

Every year, at Christmas-time, the whole world goes "Christmas-Crazy"... And MOST of the activity and calamity of Christmas has very little to do with Jesus Christ... you know: "The Reason For The Season". How in the world has Christmas crowded out Jesus? This year, let's do our best to "Prepare Him Room".

We’ve been trying to make sense of where we currently are in the Biblical Timeline, and whether “the end is near”… and this week, as we finish this series about the purpose of Eschatology, we’ll reach a definitive answer to these two questions: 

1 - What is the purpose of Eschatology?
2 - Is This The End? 

We are not the first generation of believers to demonstrate curiosity about “the end”. 
In fact, before Jesus had even been crucified, his disciples were asking him for clarity about what would happen at “the end of days”.  Jesus did what he often did… he answered the question with some parables… but, instead of giving a clear timeline, he offered a simple principle - GET READY.

Justus Fike joins us this week to share his perspective on what’s happening amongst Gen Z. What does it mean when “The Anxious Generation” initiates a Spiritual Awakening? How do you "sum-up" the book of Genesis?
We've covered 50 Chapters in 20 Weeks!
At the Very End of Genesis, Joseph provides us with a Summary Statement, and in that Statement, we can see the Major Themes of the book...
And, Guess what? They Rhyme!

Towards the end of Jacob's life, he gathered his 12 sons around him to speak words to them... words of blessing... words of prophecy... words of promise. Much of what he had to say was beautiful, meaningful, and touching. But, some of it was stinging, harsh, and hard-to-hear. We'll isolate 4 of these 12 sons and discern WHY Jacob said what he said, and HOW the words Jacob spoke then STILL APPLY TO US TODAY...

4 Words out of Joseph's mouth tell us a lot about the lessons he's learned in the 20 years since he's been connected with his family. And, those 4 words can have a HUGE effect on the way that YOU step into your assignment each and every day moving forward... Find out what those 4 words are, and what their significance is really all about as we study Genesis 45:1-8.

As we embark upon the beginning of YEAR 3 at TMC, Acts 17 offers up 3 Mission-Critical Questions... and this OUTDOOR SERVICE offered up 2 VERY INTERESTING guests.

That journey was filled with high highs and treacherous lows. 
But, every step of the way, the Bible makes a very clear, very intentional point: 
“God was WITH Joseph” What can we learn from that revelation? 
Why does Your Bible want you to pay attention to that reality? 
GENESIS 39...

Humans tend to do a bad job of encouraging dreamers. We are much better suited towards the proven path than road less traveled. But, the God of the Bible is pretty keen on dreams and visions. He tends to cast vision into the hearts of leaders that send them into the unknown. Joseph was a dreamer… but, did he handle God’s dreams with appropriate care? If not, what does that kind of care look like?

It’s all been leading up to this…
The “Slick Heel” & The “Hairy Face” reunited…
Like an Old West Showdown… 
Nowhere to Run, and Nowhere to Hide…
But, it’s not gonna go down like you might think.
 
What this moment in Genesis does for us is set the table for a conversation about Healthy Conflict Resolution. What do you do when it’s time to fight? Who do you become? What does Scripture have to tell us about the way that Christians are to approach Conflict?

One of the most famous moments in the book of Genesis happens in the crescendo of Jacob's life... as he is preparing for what could either be the next or the last conversation he'll ever have with his brother Esau, he "wrestles" with God. But, what led to that WRESTLE? And, what are we supposed to learn from it?

As we continue to track with this Chosen Family of God… 
A family that puts the “mess” is “messiah”…
We have made it to the story of Isaac’s two famous sons:  Esau & Jacob.

Pastor Fike had some fun relating the world of Professional Wrestling and the drama of Hollywood storytelling to the two major deceptions one of the boys pulled on the other.  What can be learned from a “Hairy Babyface” and a “Slickster Heel”?

By the time we get to the end of the book of Genesis, the God of the Bible is referred to as "The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob". But, at the onset of Genesis Chapter 26... that hasn't happened for Isaac just yet. So, how did the God of Abraham BECOME the God of Isaac, and how does the God of the Bible BECOME the God that YOU will put YOUR faith in?

-When God makes a promise, what’s YOUR responsibility to it?
-Is there anything YOU can do to SPEED up the process?
-Is there anything YOU can do to MESS up the Promise?

It's an astonishing revelation... 
Not only was the promise God gave to Abram & Sarai a wild one for them to comprehend...
that they would bear a son in their old age, and that he would spawn many generations of Nations and Promise... 
But, that EVEN IN THAT MOMENT, God was considering YOU and ME. 
His Covenant with Abram & Sarai wasn't just a Covenant with a faithful, elderly couple. 
It was for ALL.

What if the story of Noah and the Ark isn't quite the "children's story" we've made it out to be? What if it's quite a bit more "adult"? What if it actually requires an extreme amount of maturity, complexity, nuance and theological depth to make sense of the story of a World-Wide Flood, a Great and Holy God, and an Average Human Being who was hand-picked to reset humanity? What if this isn't quite as simple of a story as we've made it out to be?

We all love the passages of Scripture that maker perfect sense the very first time we read them. We also love the ones that edify us right away. We’ll even put up with the ones that convict us as soon as we read them.
 
But, there is a category of Scripture that many of us have a really hard time knowing what to do with… the WEIRD ONES. The ones where we’re not sure what they’re talking about, and even if someone explained it to us, we really might not like the answer, because it would mea...
