The Podcast Where We Don’t Remember
Miranda and Clayton scramble their brains listening to audiobook of There is no Antimemetics Division by QNTM, none the less they coble together enough memory to review this interesting piece of Sci Fi/Horror from the SCP Foundation Universe.
An antimemetic entity is something that stops the formation of memories and records around it, making it impossible to retain information without high levels of training and a cocktail of drugs. If in the same universe, The Silence from Doctor Who would be an antimemetic entity.

Maybe it Will Grow on Us
Miranda and Clayton got out to see Cold Storage an adaptation of the novel of the same name by David Koepp, who did screen plays for Jurassic Park and Jurassic world movies, not to mention the script for this film.

Science Faction – The Works of Andy Weir
Tamzyn, Miranda and Clayton have a chat about the novels of The Martian and Project Hail Mary author Andy Weir. His novels are so grounded in real science that is hard to give them the title science fiction.

Amaze, Amaze, Amaze Film, Question
Miranda, Tamzyn and Clayton set their geek film to maximum as they talk about the adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel Project Hail Mary. Without a doubt at the top of the team’s list of most anticipated films and, spoilers, they were not disappointed.
The film is in cinemas now.

Killer Whale (2026) – Who’s the real enemy
In this episode of Geeks Out, Tamzyn and Clayton take a look at the new 2026 film Killer Whale and ask the question: why are we still fascinated by movies where nature fights back?
From Jaws to Orca to modern eco-thrillers, animal-revenge films have always tapped into our fear of the natural world — and our guilt about how we treat it.
Killer Whale updates the idea for a modern audience, bringing bigger visuals, modern ocean cinematography, and a more contemporary take on the relationship between humans and marine life.
But does the film deliver th...
Orca (1977) – Revenge of the Killer Whale
In this episode of Geeks Out, Clayton and Tamzyn dive into the cult classic Orca (1977) — the film that tried to ride the wave of the shark-movie boom after Jaws but ended up becoming something stranger and darker.
Starring Richard Harris and Charlotte Rampling, the film flips the usual monster-movie script. After a fisherman kills a pregnant orca, the surviving whale begins a calculated campaign of revenge against the humans responsible.
Is Orca really a creature feature… or is it actually a tragedy about human arrogance and the intelligence of one of the ocean’s most comple...
Pillion – Love Outside the Mould
Leather, longing and love that doesn’t fit the mould.
This week on Geeks Out, Tamzyn goes solo (with a little buzz by the fabulous ADZ) to review Pillion, the new romantic drama starring Alexander Skarsgård and Harry Melling, directed by Harry Lighton and adapted from the novel Box Hill.
Premiering at Cannes to strong critical response, Pillion explores vulnerability, power and identity within a queer biker subculture — not as spectacle, but as deeply human connection.
Is it slow? Yes.
Is it intimate? Absolutely.
Is it for everyone? Probably not.
Who is Queer Media Made For?
In her Barbie heart song, Billie Eilish asks ‘What was I made for?’, and in this ep Clayton and Miranda talk about who queer media is made for?
With the popularity of Heated Rivalry, a public debate has opened up about who the intended audience of the show is, going as far as to exclude gay men and other queer people from the conversation because they are not the intended audience.
Cishet straight women have found male and male love and sex appealing in literature and even have become the authors of its existence.

DUST BUNNY “Beautiful, Strange… and What’s With That Chicken?”
Tamzyn, Clayton and Miranda dive into Dust Bunny, a visually stunning and quietly unsettling film starring Mads Mikkelsen.
It’s poetic. It’s eerie. It’s unexpectedly tender.
And yes — we talk about the chicken with the lightbulb.
In this episode:
• That breathtaking cinematography
• Mads Mikkelsen doing what he does best — intensity with restraint
• The child performance that anchors the film
• First-time director nerves or confident vision?
• The symbolism layered through seemingly simple moments
• Why it feels like a modern fairy tale for adults
• Audience reactions — divided but intrigued
Wonder Man review – Slow Start… Super Finish?
This week Tamzyn, Miranda and Clayton dive into Wonder Man, the latest entry into the ever-expanding Marvel TV universe.
Tamzyn wasn’t sold after the first two episodes. It felt slow. A little directionless. Not quite sure what it wanted to be. But then… it found its footing.
In this episode:
• The surprisingly endearing lead and co-lead dynamic
• Why the early episodes feel unfocused
• The origin story payoff — was it worth the wait?
• The Doorman episode — fun detour or flow killer?
• Marvel fatigue vs Marvel reinvention
• Bingeing it in two blocks vs watc...
SEND HELP “Feminist Horror… or Just Messy Chaos?”
This week on Geeks Out, Tamzyn and Clayton unpack Send Help — the horror film critics seemed to love… but did it actually land?
Tamzyn really wanted to love this one. Instead, she left feeling conflicted, uncomfortable, and not entirely sure who she was supposed to be rooting for.
Is that clever storytelling… or a tonal misfire?
In this episode:
• Why critics praised its boldness and tension
• The power dynamics between boss and employee
• When feminist horror feels… murky
• That uneasy “who do I like?” problem
• The tonal tightrope between sati...
BEV & MYRT “From Interview to on the stage!”
Back in December, we sat down with the cast and director of Bev & Myrt to unpack what this gloriously queer stage show was all about. (click here after for that)
Then we went to see it live as part of the Midsumma Festival season.
There’s something powerful about hearing artists speak about their intentions — the comedy, the vulnerability, the chaos — and then watching it unfold on stage in front of a real audience.
Did it land the way they described?
Did knowing the backstory change the experience?
And how does queer...

Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025)
Horror Review with Miranda – After revisiting the painfully rough first 30 minutes of the 1984 original, expectations were… low.
But Silent Night, Deadly Night has genuinely surprised horror audiences.
It’s sharper, more self-aware, and understands exactly what kind of cult energy it’s playing with.
Still messy, still mean — but this time, intentionally so.

Bev and Myrt – Queer Elders, Aliens, and AI Panic
A rare treat for Geeks Out — a live sci-fi stage show!
We chat with the creative team behind Bev and Myrt and the Scrolling of Doom, a joyful, sharp, and slightly unhinged celebration of queer elders, low-budget sci-fi, and modern tech anxiety.
It’s smart, silly, and deeply affectionate — with aliens, Melbourne, and doom-scrolling all rolled into one.

Common Side Effects – Science, Satire, and Side-Eye
Common Side Effects feels like an unexpected mash-up of dry suburban comedy and sharp scientific curiosity.
It leans into real scientific concepts without dumbing them down, wrapped in animation that’s deceptively casual.
Clever, strange, and quietly biting — the kind of show that makes you laugh first, then think about it later.

JUST CAUSE… ANACONDA 2025 – leave your brain at the door
This week on Geeks Out, Tamzyn goes solo to review Anaconda — the gloriously dumb, self-aware reboot starring Paul Rudd and Jack Black.
It’s a movie about making a movie about Anaconda, and it absolutely knows it. Expect giant snake idiocy, meta humour, surprise guest appearances (no spoilers), and the kind of “leave your brain at the door” fun that reminds us why popcorn movies exist in the first place.
Tamzyn also shares what it was like watching the film with “little Jase” on his very first Geeks Out cinema outing, dives into the surprisingly Australian f...
Eternity – A Gentle Existential Hug
Eternity is visually elegant and quietly confident, with a subtle, almost storybook rhythm that suits its big themes beautifully.
It plays with ideas of time, love, and permanence without becoming heavy-handed, and just when you think you know where it’s heading, it politely sidesteps expectations.
Warm, inclusive, and surprisingly funny in places — a real heart-warmer.

Rental Family – Found Family, With a Receipt
Rental Family plays in that quiet, emotional space between chosen family and emotional convenience. What starts as a slightly uncomfortable premise slowly becomes a thoughtful exploration of loneliness, connection, and the things we’re willing to pay for when life feels empty.
It’s gentle, reflective, and sneaks up on you when you least expect it — not flashy, but emotionally precise.

Pluribus – Hive Minds, Happiness & the End of Individuality
Apple TV+ is on fire, and Pluribus might be its most thought-provoking series yet.
Miranda dissects the hive-mind themes, the racial commentary, the illusion of independence, and the show’s commentary on AI and collective labour.
Tamzyn falls down the “would I join the collective?” rabbit hole — torn between terror and the warm fuzzy vibes.
Clayton breaks down why Carol is the perfect unlikeable protagonist and why consent sits at the heart of the entire story.
High-concept, unsettling, and addictive.

Keeper – Lynchian Vibes, Cabin Terror & What Did We Just Watch?
Osgood Perkins is back with Keeper, a voyeuristic, dream-logic cabin-in-the-woods journey that leaves you whispering “WTF” in the best (and strangest) way.
Miranda digs into the atmosphere and thematic layers while acknowledging the intentional lack of character grounding.
Clayton unpacks the tight, unsettling camerawork and the brilliance of Tatiana Maslany’s layered performance.
This is indie horror at its most ambiguous — where you make your own meaning, or wander lost in the fog.

The Witcher S4 – Friends, Family & a New Geralt

Miranda dives into the book/show differences, Ciri’s evolution, and why the series still scratches that original GOT itch.
Tamzyn talks through Liam Hemsworth stepping into the White Wolf’s boots, the emotional arcs, and why the show feels like two travelling parties desperately missing each other.
