Hearing Jesus for Kids: Daily Bible Study for Kids

The Healing Touch of Jesus (Luke 5:12-26)

Can you imagine being so sick that for your whole life, nobody was allowed to touch you or even come near you? Today we meet two people who needed Jesus badly, and what Jesus did for each one tells kids a lot about who He is.

Who was the man with leprosy, and what did Jesus do? In Bible times, a man with a disease called leprosy had to stay away from other people, even his family, and had to shout to warn anyone who came near. He...

Come and Follow Me (Luke 5:1-11)

Has anyone ever called you to do something at exactly the moment you felt like a failure? Maybe you had just messed up, and instead of being told to go away, you were told to come closer. That is what happened to a fisherman named Simon on the day Jesus stepped into his boat. It is a story for any kid who has worked really hard and come up empty.

What happened when Jesus got into Simon’s boat? Simon and his partners had been fishing all night and ca...

Nothing Too Big for Jesus (Luke 4:31-44)

Have you ever felt like your battery was running low, like you were carrying too many things at once? Today Jesus shows what He is really capable of, healing sickness and facing down darkness, and then He does something surprising the very next morning. It is a story about bringing everything to Jesus in prayer, and about why even Jesus needed time alone with His Father.

What happened when Jesus went to Capernaum? Jesus went to Capernaum, a town near the Sea of Galilee, and taught in the...

Good News for Everyone (Luke 4:14-30)

Have you ever had to tell the people who know you best something really important about yourself, and wondered how they would react? Today Jesus goes home to Nazareth and tells the people who watched Him grow up exactly who He is. Their reaction shows kids that God’s love is bigger than any group, and that the circle is wider than we sometimes want it to be.

What did Jesus read in the synagogue at Nazareth? Jesus had been traveling through Galilee teaching, and people were impressed. When He...

Have you ever been offered a shortcut that would have made something so much easier, but you knew deep down it would not have been fair? Today Jesus faces the ultimate test: forty days alone in the desert with no food, tempted three different times by the devil himself. What Jesus does in those forty days shows kids exactly how to stand strong when they are tested too.

What happened to Jesus in the wilderness?

Right after His baptism, Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and was led into the wilderness, where He fasted...

If God spoke out loud to you right now, what do you think He would say? Today we find out, because right before Jesus starts His ministry, the voice of God the Father speaks from heaven for everyone to hear. It is a moment that shows kids something every one of us needs to know: God's love does not have to be earned.

What happened when Jesus was baptized?

John had been baptizing crowds of people in the Jordan River, and Jesus came to be baptized too. While He was praying, heaven opened, and the...

Have you ever been waiting for something so long that when it finally happens, it is almost hard to believe it is really here? For hundreds of years, God's people had been waiting for the promised rescuer. Today a wild, unexpected man shows up in the middle of nowhere with an urgent message: get ready, because Jesus is almost here.

Who was John, and why did he show up in the wilderness?

John was the son of Zechariah and Elizabeth, the baby whose birth we already heard about, and he grew up out in the...

Faithful Every Day: Luke 2:41-52: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Have you ever felt like your parents just did not understand you? Today we meet Jesus at twelve years old, and He says the very first words we ever hear Him speak in the book of Luke. It is a story about growing up faithful in the ordinary, everyday moments, even the ones nobody else is watching.

What happened when Jesus stayed behind in the temple?

Every year Mary and Joseph traveled about sixty five miles to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, usually with...

God Hears Our Prayers: Luke 2:25-38: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Have you ever counted down the days until something exciting was about to happen, like Christmas morning or your birthday? Waiting can feel so hard, especially when you are excited. Now imagine waiting, not for days, but for your whole life. That is exactly what two people in today's story did, and it is why we are calling this episode God Hears Our Prayers.

When Jesus was a baby, Mary and Joseph brought Him to the temple in Jerusalem, just like the law required...

God Sees You: Luke 2:1-20: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Have you ever felt kind of ordinary, like you would not be the one picked for something special? Today we hear the story of the very first Christmas, and it is full of surprises: a king born in a barn, and the biggest news in history announced first to the people nobody expected. It is a story that shows kids exactly how much God sees them, no matter how ordinary or overlooked they might feel.

Why did Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem?

The...

Praising While Waiting : Luke 1:39-80: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Have you ever been so excited about something that you just wanted to sing? Today Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth carrying the most extraordinary secret in the world, and what happens next teaches kids one of the most important lessons in the whole Bible: how to praise God before you can see the answer to what you are waiting for.

What happened when Mary visited Elizabeth?

Mary had just learned from the angel Gabriel that she was going to be the mother of Jesus...

Saying Yes to God: Luke 1:5-38: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Has anyone ever told you something was impossible? Today we start the story of Jesus in the book of Luke with two families who both received impossible news from the same angel. Kids will meet Zechariah, a priest who needed proof before he could believe, and Mary, a young girl who said yes to God without knowing exactly how it would all work out. It's a story about learning to trust God with the impossible things in our own lives too.

Who was Z...

Paying Attention to Jesus : Luke 1:1-4: Hearing Jesus for Kids

Have you ever wondered if God really notices you? Today we start a brand new series through the Gospel of Luke, written by a doctor who investigated every detail about Jesus before writing a single word. Kids will learn who Luke was, why his story about Jesus can be trusted, and what it means to pay close attention to Jesus, because the more we pay attention to Him, the more we discover He has been paying attention to us the whole time.
