In our culture, we’re addicted to comfort. This means our “discomfort muscle” isn’t always strong. When you find yourself in uncomfortable situations, ask: What do I know for sure?
You’ll discover that, in truth, we don’t know much for ce...

Recycled and Repackaged
#71
02/07/2025

Everything Old is New Again. There is nothing new under the sun as we kind of keep recycling information over and over. Yet it does seem to be brand new because it comes through different vessels and is heard by new ears. Kind of like a fresh coat of paint on some old paint, it just freshens it right back up. What goes around, comes around. You could have twenty different books saying, “be here now,” in twenty different ways. We are constantly processing the world around us. We can’t sit on anyone else’s perch. We understand and hear...

What's in a Label?
#70
01/31/2025

Boxing yourself and others in with labels as they can dehumanize us. While some labels are necessary on products but they are not helpful when used on people. When we lump people into a group, there can be no connection and then there is no compassion or empathy which diminishes the humanity. Even when we define ourselves, it can put a box around and stifle who we are. Blanket statements don’t work and only limit our view. When you understand somebody’s story and the root of their pain, you have compassion and unconditional love for them. Act as i...

Opening to the Mystery of Life
#66
12/15/2024

Can you be okay with not having the answers? We try to explain so many things in life, and so much of it is just a bunch of bull-crap!

Are you comfortable with silence? When we are still, we can feel into what is happening rather than talking about or explaining it. Opening to the mystery of life, the deepening. To exist is to change, to change is to mature, to mature is to go on creating oneself endlessly. Breathing a sigh of relief of not knowing. How exciting to not know what's next.

What's Your Poo Telling You
#65
12/06/2024

Talking about poop is often considered taboo in our culture, but it’s time we normalize this conversation! Our diverse styles of poop are like nature's colorful palette, with each hue and shape telling a unique story about your health and what’s brewing in your gut.

Your poo can serve as an indicator light, revealing what’s going on in your body. We have two brains: one in our head and another in our gut. There are many neurotransmitters in the gut, and 70% of your immune system resides in your belly. When your inner plumbing isn’t regula...

Embracing Our Changing Aging World
#64
11/29/2024

Changing the narrative as we age is what our podcast is all about. Our bodies and our mind does change as we get older. When we resist where we are at in life, it can cause suffering. We desire comfort so much because aging is a very mysterious process. To sit or be with discomfort, sadness or jealousy, we can more easily allow these challenging feelings to move through us rather then sticking to us. We can’t ever really know how someone else is feeling. Allowing someone to be in their own pain can be a grace.

Grow Yourself to Know Yourself
#63
11/22/2024

Aristotle said that getting to know yourself is the beginning of all wisdom. Anything in life is either growing or dying. It's part of the natural cycle of life. But what does this have to do with your own life?

We naturally want to eat more rooted winter vegetables as it grows colder and do more hibernating-type things. It's almost like an inward movement, the cooler weather as we wear warmer clothing and it gets dark earlier. It's a time for less doing and maybe more introspection.

When we get to midlife, sometimes we question...

Sweet Deception
#62
11/15/2024

Food is a form of healthcare. Today Dr. Eddi shares the hidden sugars in many of our foods and discusses how sugar creates acidity and causes inflammation. We also share healthy alternates for the sweet tooth in us all. The reason why we love the bun that comes with a take out burger is because it is loaded with sugar. If you cannot pronounce many of the ingredients on a package, your body probably probably doesn’t understand it either.

Can you switch to natural sodas? Make small changes consistently and soon you’ll be off sugar!

What Lies Beyond the Ego
#61
11/08/2024

What lies beyond the ego? It’s awareness and oneness, present moment and love. Ego is what allows us to experience life as a  seemingly separation person. The identification to the ego is what causes problems and the attachments to things outside of ourselves. Needing validation is part of the ego. As we know ourselves, we grow ourselves. As we grow older we can either become more identified with our roles and jobs and money or less identified. Eddi finds herself softening into her life and into her authentic self. When we know better, we do better. When you are...

Emotional Detox
#60
11/01/2024

We do body detoxing, so how about an emotional detox? When and how long do you vent with your friends and how do you move on? When does it become toxic? Noticing what is alive and true by asking yourself, “what do I know for sure?” This is how you know if you are present or if you are creating a larger un-true narrative. You project into the future and you regress and focus on past hurts but what about staying present to what you know for sure.

Accelerators of Aging
#56
09/27/2024

Today we are talking about what Speeds Up the Aging Process. We are all aging no matter what our chronological age is. Aging and dying is a very natural process. Then why do so many people fight it? We are pro-aging! If you live in an old house or have an old car, you need to take extra care of it. So how does that relate to the body?

Addressing disfunction in the body or finding the root cause, can help in prevention in disease. Every symptom is a sign.  We are rusting! That is what the a...

The plants as medicine are here to help us so let’s learn more about them! Eddi went on a foraging adventure near her home in Newfoundland and was very inspired by a couple who are foraging seaweed for their wonderful healing products. With your skin being the largest organ in your body, it is vital for your health that you put clean ingredients on your body from your body lotion to face creams, deodorant and more. There are...

Habit Reboot
#52
08/30/2024

The algorithms of your habits are well worn grooves so it is important to diversify. Stretching yourself more and more to do the opposite of what is easy and natural for you. Eddi shares that she has transitioned to swimming after a knee injury that has cut into her pickleball schedule. She rides her edge with water things since she almost drowned when she was young. Don’t let your body stop you and find something that works in your life for some movement. Set up new algorithms! It may surprise everyone to know that change is not about di...

Where Peace Resides
#51
08/23/2024

Where Peace Resides: Finding Calm Here Now. With so much going on in the world right now, it can seem harder and harder to find peace and calm. There is truly always chaos going on somewhere in the world. Do you focus on what’s wrong in the world? How much time do you spend on things out of your control. Where your attention goes, energy flows. So where is your attention? How much time do you spend on the news each day? The only reality that exists is here, now. But what does that really mean and how ca...

Beyond the Invisible
#50
08/16/2024

We tend to feel invisible and even irrelevant as we age. But there are many ways we can find relevance from within. We can help ourselves stay relevant by learning new things and being open to change and growth. And then sometimes you need to lean into the fact that youngsters may not want your input and respect that and not take it personal. We dive into the importance of sharing our fears with others and how empowering and healing that can be. Eddi says that she has stretched out of her comfort zone by sharing her life on...

The Family Tapestry
#49
08/02/2024

The importance of healing family wounds, embracing our elders and really learning more about our history in order to move forward in our own lives. Our history is not our destiny, but it does inform us and can guide us. Healing and compassion can happen by trying to understand where our family came from and what their life circumstances were.

Eddi and Corrine share the differences in their own family tapestries. Having compassion for our parents can be healing to our family wounds. Where does our love for certain things come from? When we look at our...

Breath of Life
#48
07/26/2024

As a yoga and meditation teacher, the breath has been very important for Corrine.  For Eddi breath has been instrumental in a different way as she has had sinus issues for much of her life. Let’s talk about the breath!

Using a timer to take a mindful breath. This calms you and helps you to be more present.

Try the 4-7-8 breath to help anxiety, Alternate nostril breathing to help calm the mind. Ujjayi breathing to strengthen the lungs. Plus the science behind the exhale and when it is longer then the inhale, it...

Living Open, Loving and Free with Alaya Dickinson
#44
06/28/2024

A very special person to both Corrine and Eddi, Alaya Dickinson is a spiritual teacher. Alaya’s invitation is to meet what is here so deeply that separation cannot be maintained. When separation falls away, what remains is our true nature: open, loving, and free. But first we are invited to meet what is here, whatever it is.

Alaya explains that the way she experiences life is very similar to the aliveness we feel as children. As we get older, we start gathering things. Not as a choice, but we start getting layers of beliefs and social co...

Measuring What Matters
#43
06/25/2024

What is success to you? We all have different definitions of success, and it's not just about money. Many people gauge success by how much money they have in the bank or whether they own a house. But what do you feel success really is?

Eddi brings up an interesting point about grit. We often have a lot of grit when we are young, but as we age, we tend to mellow out a bit more. So, how do you feel about success now? Do you still resonate with your old beliefs?

Our measurement of...

Deep Listening
#42
06/14/2024

Deep listening can be to our bodies, our friends, our intuition and flow of our lives. Active listening on every level! We talk about the importance of listening to your intuition but how do you even do that? Eddi grew up in a very active and loud Irish family and so there was no practice of listening but only waiting for someone to inhale or pause for a micro-second and you jump on in. How we are raised can affect our ability to listen. And how is it that we know what voice is your intuition?

Perspective Shift
#41
06/07/2024

The way we look at things shifts our perspective and our perspective in life truly is everything.
What are we saying to ourselves? Do you need to re-frame how you talk to yourself? The perspective continues to change as we age so how can we re-frame some of thinking. Life is too short to dread anything. Re-framing helps you to stay curious and accept and sink more deeply into accepting some of the uncomfortable things that show up in our lives. Tony Robbins coined the name ‘Life Coach’ many years ago on Larry King. Having taken the Robbins Madan...
