RIP Carl Erskine and Whitey Herzog
#1530
Last Wednesday at 6:57 AM

Hall of Fame manager Whitey Herzog died, leaving behind a legacy of pennants and defining National League baseball for a decade.

Carl Erskine, beloved member of the 1955 World Series champion Brooklyn Dodgers, also died. His legacy was one of World Series heroics, racial harmony and treating all with dignity.

Meanwhile, the Blue Jays have not lost since Sully called for a managerial change. You are welcome, Canada.

Honoring Andrew McCutchen plus the Jackie Robinson and Patriot's Day Game
#1528
Last Monday at 4:23 AM

Andrew McCutchen helped the Pirates win again and has joined an elite group of players with his accomplishments during his wonderful career.

Meanwhile Monday is both Jackie Robinson Day and the Patriot's Day game in Boston. Special days like these are essential for the 162 game schedule.

And the A's are suddenly winning again. I urged Oakland fans to put bitterness aside and see a game this year.

This week I am also guest hosting Locked On A's.

Plus he encourages fans to come out to the ballpark and c...

Blue Jays Need Direction and the Pirates Might Get Better
#1527
04/13/2024

Nearly a year ago, I felt the Blue Jays needed to make a change with their manager. Now here we are and everything I said back then remains valid now.

Why allow things to ferment when over a year is a big enough sample size?

Meanwhile everything is rosie in Pittsburgh and the best pitching prospect in baseball is not far away.

Ohtani Is Exonerated and Sully Is Not with Jeff Snider of Locked of Dodgers
#1526
04/12/2024

Sully is getting the Tomatoes for being wrong about Shohei Ohtani.

And nobody is throwing more tomatoes than Locked on Dodgers host Jeff Snider.

Along with being right about Ohtani from the beginning, Jeff could not wait to remind everyone about how arrogant Sully was about his stance. Ah well.

Meanwhile the NL West is off to a sluggish start, allowing the Dodgers to take an early lead.

Wrong About Ohtani Hunch... Plus Holliday and Maddon Thoughts
#1525
04/11/2024

It looks like it was fraud and not paying off a friend's debt in the Ippei/Ohtani story. And yup, your pal Sully was wrong about his main hunch.

Looks like Ohtani hired the worst Crisis Management Team of all time.

Sully does a mea culpa.

Strange tale but time to move on.

Jackson Holliday had a nice debut with the Orioles, who seem poised to take off.

The Mariners and Blue Jays are facing off in an underachiever series. Could Joe Madoon be...

Cubs Blow Huge Lead, Snell is Shaky and A's Talk with Melissa Lockard
#1524
04/09/2024

The Cubs blew an 8-0 game. And if their finish in 2023 is any indication, they can not afford to lose games they have in hand.

Blake Snell looked shaky in his first start with the Giants but there is time to correct that.

Meanwhile, the A's saga continues. Sully will be hosting Locked on A's this week and part of his interview with Athletic writer and editor Melissa Lockard is shared on this episode.

Assessing Teams After 10 Games... An Act Of Madness
#1523
04/08/2024

Is it early in the season?

Sure. But that will not stop me from figuring out which teams should feel really good about their start (Pirates, Guardians, Red Sox, Yankees and Dodgers), which teams should not panic about their mediocre start (Astros and Orioles) and which teams should give a big gulp with their rotten starts (Rockies, White Sox and Marlins.)
