In this episode, we explore the SAFE Symposium, a conference designed to bring together community members and organizations working to address child sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking.

The SAFE Symposium creates a space for organizations to connect, share the work they are doing, identify the needs and gaps within our community, and discover where collaboration can make a greater impact. Just as importantly, it gives community members an opportunity to better understand what is happening around them, learn from the organizations on the front lines, and discover tangible ways they can get involved.

I coach runners who care about performance, but aren't willing to sacrifice their entire life to chase it.

I've lived the obsession version of the sport. High-milage weeks. Early mornings.  Late nights.  Training fit into the space where life should have been. It worked - and it came at a cost.

That experience shapes the coach I am today.

My focus is durability,  consistency, and context. Training that can actually be executed in a full, demanding life. Performance still matters.  But staying healthy, present, and capable year after year matters more.

What is the right way to help with the awareness of suicide?  I pose some questions, talk about some of the things I've seen on social, and share how I feel about trying to have the conversation.

I wish I had all the answers.  I wish I could approach it all perfectly. All I know is that the only way we make a difference is by trying our best by talking it out.

If you have any resources you can share please do so that I can put them out there.

From Awareness to Action

04/29/2026

I want to start by grounding us in the reality of child sexual abuse, because a lot of us grow up thinking, “that wouldn’t happen in my family” or “I’d see the signs.” But the statistics tell a different story. Abuse is more common than we’re comfortable admitting, and in most cases, it’s not a stranger—it’s someone the child already knows and trusts.

That can feel unsettling to hear, but the goal here isn’t to create fear—it’s to create awareness. Because the more we understand what’s actually happening, the more we can d...
