Brant Hansen on Rebranding the Slip and Slide
Yesterday at 9:30 PM

Brant and Sherri talk about the chaos and charm of July 4th traditions—specifically, the slip and slide. Brant has a list of hilariously accurate alternative names he’d seen on a parent’s blog—like "Slip and Chafe," "Slip and Jack Up the Water Bill," and "Slip and Kill the Lawn." Based on her own family’s experiences, Sherri agrees that every single one of those names rings painfully true. Click PLAY and compare your names with theirs.

Stuck at 12:00: VCR Confessions with Brant & Sherri
Last Friday at 10:05 PM

Brant and Sherri are kicking back on the porch, taking a humorous stroll down memory lane—right back to the days of VCRs and the ultimate tech challenge: setting the clock. Brant confesses he never figured it out and jokes that he’ll roll into heaven with his VCR still flashing 12:00. Click PLAY to reminisce about simpler times, obsolete gadgets, and why no one ever really knew how to record anything anyway.

Brant on Grumble Jobs: The True Spirit of Summer Work
06/17/2025

Brant and Sherri take a nostalgic (and slightly grumpy) stroll down minimum-wage memory lane, swapping horror stories of their awful summer jobs—Brant’s involving endless popcorn and crushed dreams. They argue that miserable jobs build character, storytelling skills, and the sacred right to complain. Forget fun or well-paying gigs—if your summer job doesn’t make you question life choices, are you even growing?

Here is a note from our grand prize winner:

My daddy was really special. He was a founding member of Disney Studios. Brant Hansen on a Listener's Reminder About Fatherhood
06/10/2025

So, I’ve never been much of a handyman. Some guys are amazing at it, and honestly, I’ve felt a little bad at times that I’m not one of them. But today I was reminded of something important.

A listener named Heather wrote in after hearing us talk about this. She said her dad could fix anything—but that’s not what she remembers most about him. What stuck with her were the moments: him tossing her in the air when he got home from work, tickling her face with his beard, praying with her, crying with her w...

Brant Hansen Song: "Please Take Down That Picture of Me"
06/05/2025

Diving into one of life’s greatest tragedies today: unflattering photos on Facebook. Brant’s heartfelt new song, “Please Take Down That Picture of Me,” captures the raw pain of looking like Fred Flintstone in a tag gone wrong. Sherri delivers the lyrics with all the drama they deserve, while Brant admits this might be his most emotionally honest work yet. Because nothing says vulnerability like a double chin in bad lighting.

Brant and Sherri on Six-Pack Dreams vs. Snack-Pack Reality: The Snickerdoodle Twix Dilemma
06/04/2025

Brant and Sherri tackle the age-old struggle: loving snacks but wanting abs. They cheer for the new Snickerdoodle Twix (because, obviously, delicious), but also wonder if launching more sugary temptations is the best move when society’s already losing the salad vs. snack battle. In short: our taste buds say “YAY,” but our waistlines say “WHY.”

God Uses the Most Unlikely People
06/03/2025

In a world that idolizes fame and intellect, celebrities and scholars, it might seem strange that God would work through "bronze age camel herders" or humble folks from Galilee. But Scripture tells a different story — one where God deliberately chooses the unlikely, the overlooked, the everyday person to carry out His plans. With God, it’s not about status — it’s about surrender.

Tend The Garden You've Been Given
05/05/2025

Brant highlights the importance of faithfully tending to the responsibilities and relationships God has placed directly in our lives—what he describes as "tending the garden you're given." Don't be swayed by the noise of outside pressures or the expectations others may try to place on us, as these distractions can cause us to overlook the people and tasks God has specifically entrusted to our care. With a spirit of trust and simplicity, focus on what’s right in front of us. Honoring these everyday callings is both meaningful and pleasing to God.

Brant & Sherri on How Jesus Confronts Us But He Doesn't Leave Us There
04/22/2025

Brant:
It's kind of weird in church culture or Christianity or whatever you want to call it. A lot of times we'll talk about anything but Jesus; like everything else but Him, which is really odd. I mean, He's the reason I'm a believer. And same thing with Sherri. So we thought, Hey, let's highlight some Jesus stuff rather than just talk politics or whatever. Maybe talk about Him. So we were thinking about the top two or three things we put on our list for just Jesus moments. We really love from the gospels. So what would you...

Brant on Being Broken But Repentant
04/17/2025

Brant explores the concept of brokenness and humility in the context of church culture, emphasizing that while many people describe themselves as broken, true transformation requires repentance and rethinking one's life in light of this brokenness. Simply acknowledging brokenness without seeking change can lead to pride rather than humility.

Click PLAY as Brant illustrates this using the story when Jesus asks a man if he wants to be healed.

It's Not Too Late to Turn Toward God
04/15/2025

It's never too late to turn toward God. His goodness and unwavering pursuit of humanity despite our flaws and sin is constant. There's a common misconception that God is ashamed or angry with us, but God's persistent love and closeness, even when we fall short, does not end. I hope you find Him, and lean in. You are loved.

Brant on the Worst Mistake: Walking Away From God in Shame
04/10/2025

Hey, here's a reminder, and this is something I have to remind myself of, and I thought you too, because I think you're human like me, and that is the worst thing that we can do with our lives... the worst thing that we can do in our lives, the biggest mistake that we can make is to walk away from God in shame. There's all sorts of things we can do wrong and have done wrong, if you're like me, but the worst thing I can do is walk away from a God who wants to forgive me and...

God is Looking for Your Faithfulness at Work
04/09/2025

I don't know if you're struggling today with your work, but if you are, I found this quote from Elisabeth Elliot that I thought was so good. And by work I mean it may be your career, it may be just a job or it may be parenting... just the work that you have in your life to do. I love her attitude. This is what she would tell herself.

This job has been given to me to do. Therefore, it is a gift. Therefore, it is a privilege. Therefore, it is an offering I may make to...

Brant Hansen on Believing That I'm Beautifully Made
04/07/2025

Ran across this quote again, and it hits me every time. Macrina Wiederkehr came up with this. She wrote, "Oh God, help me to believe the truth about myself no matter how beautiful." And that stopped me in my tracks when I saw it because the first thing we think is our brokenness. But He still wants us, we're still made in His image. At the end of the day, we're beautifully made. He actually enjoys us. He wants to be with us. How about that? Lord, allow me to believe that truth about myself, "no matter how beautiful."

Worrying May be Areas Unsurrendered to God
04/02/2025

Brant:Is this true or not? I heard this and I was like, I don't know, and then I was thinking, maybe it is true. Here's what I heard someone say. The quickest way to know what you haven't surrendered to God is to consider what you're worrying about. Oh yeah. I was like, that seems a little simplistic.

Shari:I don't want that to be true, but it probably is. That's what I thought too. It probably is.

Brant:Okay, but this is an opportunity. It's not a guilt trip. It's an opportunity...

Brant on a Meal with a Sinner
03/31/2025

Generally speaking, do you go up to people you don't like and be like, Hey, let's get together for dinner? I mean, as a general rule. We don't. Or you say, Hey, let's do lunch. Even if you wind up never doing it, it's a gesture of, I like you, let's be friends. There's just something about sitting at a table having a meal. That's why it blows me away when you see Jesus sitting down to have meals with people. Like when he walked into town and the town scoundrel is up in a tree making a fool out...
