Charging Status is a weekly podcast focussing on the latest news in the electric vehicle space and is hosted by Alex Lowe and Jim Starling.
Conventionally Handsome
Jim and Alex discuss their recent trip to Frankfurt where they saw what MG is up to with semi-solid state batteries. Also, they both have come down with man-flu and discuss electric vans and pickup trucks as well as the new Changan Deepal S05.
Perfume In Cars
Alex and Jim are once again back, and catch up on their recent very positive drive in the Omoda 7, a car which has a quite impressive fragrance system. Elsewhere, Jim has been talking Spanish to his Tesla and the Lotus Eletre gets a new subjective plug-in-hybrid variant.
Fun Vacuum
Alex and Jim are back together in person to talk about the new MG4 and the MG4 Urban, with the latter starting at a very competitive price. They also discuss the Tesla Model Y Performance that Alex has been driving and the new ultra-cute Renault Twingo.
Dangerously Happy
This time, Alex and Jim are back to discuss a recent BYD Sealion 5 launch event they both attended, which involved some truly atrocious roads and giant potholes for Jim's Tesla. Other than a plug-in hybrid on an EV podcast, there is some conversation about what it takes to become Car of the Year and what cars they're both driving soon.
Light Bulbs with Graeme Cobb
In this episode, Alex and Jim are joined by EV enthusiast and genuinely nice bloke, Graeme Cobb. The trio discuss how Graeme got into EVs, from LED light bulbs to the BMW i3 and also the standout EVs of 2025, including the Hyundai Inster, Renault 5, Alpine A290, and the Tesla Model Y.
