With a pretty bleak unrestricted free agency pool leading into this offseason, there seems to have been a large emphasis from GMs around the league to look at trades as a way of improving their teams. If you're unwilling to wait on prospects, and there's nobody to sign, the only way to stay competitive is to offer a boatload of assets. The '25-'26 season is officially over, and I can say for a lot of Rangers fans out there that this one is definitely one I'd like to forget soon. Despite a division rival winning the cup, a recently traded Ranger hoisting said cup, and moving down in the draft lotto despite having the 3rd worst record all season, the year was one of the more frustrating seasons we've had to suffer through recently.
