Daily Scripture Meditations from Pastors Around the World.

December 2 — The Gospel Never Changes
#154

Beginning in Romans 3, Paul has been speaking to the Jews and demonstrating to them that justification by faith was not a new truth but was clearly established in the Old Testament. Why is this important? Because the gospel, in its content and application, never changes. Sinful men are only justified through faith, looking to a faithful God who saves. Paul uses Abraham, the Father of Israel, in this text to prove this very point.

December 1 — Love Must Be Tough
#153
Last Thursday at 8:00 AM

How is your game? Are you expending great effort to minister to your spouse, children, parents, teammates, etc.? Or are you just standing between the goal posts, not wanting to get your uniform dirty or a scrape on your elbow? The Lord highly prizes fervent love, and His “well done” will make all the glory associated with winning the World Cup look like an old, crumpled Dixie cup in comparison.

November 29 — Gracious Saving Faith
#151
Last Tuesday at 8:00 AM

Faith must be granted to us. If a person is not given faith, there is no hope for him. He will never understand his sin or God’s righteousness. He will never comprehend who Jesus is, nor appreciate what He did. He will never trust Jesus for his salvation. No one is able to receive and understand the biblical Jesus without God’s sovereign work (Mark 4:10–12).

November 28 — The Righteousness of Another
#150
Last Monday at 8:00 AM

But we did not obtain our salvation and God’s favor because of our works. Even in the present, we do not obtain favor or righteousness before God because of what we do. Our daily relationship with the Lord is based on the continuous work of Jesus and His perfect righteousness. We stand justified before God not because of our goodness, but because of Jesus’ righteousness. And only through Him can our imperfect obedience be accepted in God’s sight.

November 27 — The Nature of Our Love
#149
Last Sunday at 8:00 AM

This is an important truth for all Christians. The concept of love that we hear and see today is completely different from the teaching of Christ. What is sinful and twisted has been taught as if it is true love, and what is truly loving according to the Bible is considered as sinful or hateful.

November 26 — Getting It Right
#148
11/26/2022

We must never overlook the importance of sound doctrine, of careful and meticulous interpretation of God’s word, of efforts to get it right and cut it straight. Sound doctrine guards us from error. It produces true, spiritual growth in our lives. May we never disregard those faithful and qualified men whom God has called to preach His word and speak the truth. Let others have their ears tickled, if they must, but let us pursue the hard truths that are fitting for sound doctrine.

November 25 — Basking in the Glory of the Impartial God
#147
11/25/2022

Beloved brothers and sisters, bask in the glory of God, humbly proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers. Don’t diminish the power of the gospel, but boast in it. Boast in our Savior and proclaim the gospel without reservation or discrimination. Girolamo Savonarola, an Italian forerunner of the Reformation, said that you can go to paradise if you want to, because your Savior, Christ, has gone there, but know that it is not by your own nature or by your own virtue that you will reach that place. Praise God for sending His Son to die so that we...

November 24 — Through One Man
#146
11/24/2022

This is why we need to spread the gospel and make disciples of all nations. No culture, no tribe, nor group of people can claim to be free from sin, because we are all descendants of Adam. Every tribe and every nation has to hear the good news of salvation given by the Father. Stop and pray that from all nations, those in Adam, can be saved in Christ.

November 22 — Signs of Decay
#144
11/22/2022

If you believe in God’s care for your congregation, then you will work for its edification and pray for struggling believers. If you know someone who is showing these signs of decay, talk with him—encourage, exhort, admonish, reprove—and do so in love, so he doesn’t hurt his own soul and also the souls of other brothers and sisters.

November 21 — Christ Crucified
#143
11/21/2022

Many attract crowds by preaching man-pleasing sermons. The gospel of self-esteem and self-love is reigning in too many places. Eloquence and human wisdom are at the center of much proclamation around the globe. But none of these gospel counterfeits will either save anyone or edify God’s people.

November 20 — Living in the Presence of the Lord
#142
11/20/2022

Emma, a believer with scarce economic resources, has been in a wheelchair and confined to her bed for more than twenty years due to chronic arthritis. I visited her one day this summer and it was stifling hot. She was lying in bed and there was no sort of ventilation. I asked her how she could stand it, and she said, “I think about God’s word. It helps me with the pain and refreshes my body.” As she was speaking, her words expressed thankfulness while her countenance reflected peace and joy, the fruit of an intimate communion with the Lo...

November 19 — Submission to Authorities
#141
11/19/2022

The next time you are pulled over by a traffic enforcer for using your cellphone while driving, or for not fastening your seatbelt (two of the things many Filipino drivers notoriously disregard), remember that God put them in authority to protect you. The laws they enforce aim to spare you from a disaster that might otherwise have sent you to your final destiny instead of to your intended destination! And when we submit to the governing authorities, we honor the God who established them.

#140
11/18/2022

We thank you, God, that You do not turn us away when we come to You humble and broken, seeking Your help. We cannot stand on our own, and so we praise You for lifting us up and rescuing us in our time of need. Your grace is greater than all our sin.

November 17 — The End Is Glory
#139
11/17/2022

We have peace with God because we have been justified in the past. We have entrance to His grace at any time we may need it in the present. And we have the expectancy of God’s glory in the future. These are truths that should stoke the fire of our souls on a daily basis. This is what we were made for. “For I am confident of this very thing,” says Paul to that first generation of believers, “that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus” (Phil. 1:6).

November 10 — Turn Back and Repent
#132
11/10/2022

Maybe you are not a Christian, so you need to confess your sin, and your rebellion against God. It is not enough to have regret or sorrow for sin; you must genuinely repent from your sin and turn to God. If you are a Christian, consider Peter’s conviction in God’s word. Do not be afraid of the opposition you will face. Find comfort in God’s will. Proclaim repentance. Do not be carried along by modern influences—confront people with their sin, and call them to repentance and belief in Christ.

November 9 — A Christian Paradox
#131
11/09/2022

Jesus does not contrast the “wise” and the “stupid.” He contrasts the godless and the God-fearing. The God-fearing are like “infants,” in that they are dependent on a higher mind. The wise and pompous of this world do not reckon with God, because they think themselves as self-sufficient and independent, relying on their sin-tainted understanding.

It is critical for every believer to seek the examination and evaluation of God. We should echo the psalmist’s desire to be thoroughly tried and refined, so that in the end we would be purified. October 30 — Holiness Through the Word of God
#121
10/30/2022

As I gained an understanding of the Scriptures, I began to see the importance of what Christ prays to the Father. It is absolutely necessary for me to know the word of God so that I can live a life characterized by holiness. The power of the word is not just to convert people to have life eternal, but also to make them have a life of holiness. Let us be diligent students of the word, so that our lives can be totally set apart to our God.

#120
10/29/2022

Not only do uncomfortable circumstances come up in our lives, and not only are there people that are difficult to deal with, but one of the greatest obstacles we face each day is the world trying to press and conform us into its mold. This battle is constant throughout our day. But it is a battle worth fighting through resistance and renewal.

October 27 — Commanded to Forgive
#118
10/27/2022

In the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, we find a principle and a simple commandment: Forgive the repentant believer. Therefore, forgiveness is not one option among many; forgiveness does not depend on your mood, or on the gravity of the offense. The problem that makes forgiveness hard is that it is a volitional action that clashes with our sinful human nature. But we must forgive our repentant brother in the faith because it is God Himself who demands it from us.

#117

Imagine how a repentant criminal would live his life if he were forgiven in a court when he should have been punished for his evil deeds. Live in thankfulness, rejoice in your salvation, forgive as you have been forgiven, and preach the gospel to those who are still in need of cancelled debt.
