Last Exit To Springfield (with Jay Kogen)
Dental Plan! Dando needs braces! This week we discuss what many consider the greatest Simpsons episode of all time, "Last Exit To Springfield", with one of its co-writers, Jay Kogen!
On top of the episode, we also discuss the competitiveness of the Simpsons writer's room, Dr. Hibbert's original name, creating characters like Mr. Burns and Sideshow Bob, memories of working with the likes of Sam Simon, Kelsey Grammer, Conan O'Brien and more!
Plus, we find out once and for all whether Smithers was originally intended to be black (the answer may shock you!)
...
The Color Yellow (S21E13)
The Simpsons were slave owners?! It happened! Or did it? Here we have Lisa discovering that her ancestors helped a black slave escape to freedom, with an added secret for good measure that should change the history of the show, but won't.
It's hard to find comedy with a topic such as slavery, and this episode is a perfect example.

An Interview With Al Jean (Simpsons Showrunner)
Simpsons royalty, Al Jean joined us this week to discuss his storied career working for the show.
We cover a LOT of ground here, including his initial run as showrunner before leaving to create The Critic, (Al also gives us the scoop on The Critic revival), the time The Simpsons was almost cancelled, ignoring the internet criticism's of the show, working with Johnny Carson, the time Conan pitched Marge vs The Monorail and more!

Guess Who's Coming To Criticize Dinner? (with Mitch and Dando)
If you like pizza, bagels, hot dogs with mustard and beer, eggplant, or could even eat a baby dear, well then do we have the review for you!
That's right, Mitch and Dando are back and ready to kick off where they left off, by tackling "Guess Who's Come To Criticize Dinner?", an episode that sees Homer discover a career he's genuinely good at... eating! A lot of fun here, even if there was a lot left on the table with the Lisa/Homer dynamic.
Mitch and Dando also discuss memorable school excursions, swap parenthood stories...
Boy Meets Curl (S21E12)
It's The Simpsons vs The Winter Olympics as Marge and Homer set out to become gold medallists in curling. Meanwhile, Lisa gets addicted to collecting Olympic pins.
An overall fun episode that seems to fall off a cliff at the end, but at least Homer is continuing his trend of not being a jerk. Speaking of jerks, boy was Agnes Skinner insufferable here.
We also discuss Arnie's early-90s run of comedies with Ivan Reitman, the tragic story of the boy who used to play the trumpet at Geelong footy games, how much is "too much"...
Rosebud (with Dave Thornton)
This week we were joined by comedian Dave Thornton (what a scoop!) to revisit "Rosebud", an episode jam-packed with some of the show's most iconic moments. Whether it's The Ramones' (and Mr. Burns') happy birthday renditions, 64 slices of American cheese, THAT "yes" moment, or even Barney's "2+2 is 4", there is so much to unpack and appreciate in what may be Swartzwelder's greatest Simpsons script.
We also discuss whether we'd sell our child's favourite toy, McDonald's birthday parties, terrible stand-up introductions and more.

Million Dollar Maybe (S21E11)
Regardless of how you say "potato", you're gonna love this week's review of "Million Dollar Maybe", a surprisingly heartfelt and believable story that sees Homer forced to hide his lotto winnigns from his family. Despite what you may think, he's actually a pretty great father/husband for the most part!
We also discuss complaining when waiting in line, the short-lived life of Springfield's newest resident, "Ricardo", our love of a good panini and more.

Krusty falls in love with Anne Hathaway, aka Princess Penelope, after she becomes his new co-host. Unfortunately, he realises that if he truly loves her, he can't marry her. Meanwhile, Homer, Carl and Lenny are scouted to work for a rival power plant.
This episode celebrated the show's 20th anniversary, which one of us thought they did rather well, the other, not so much.
We also discuss THAT Star Wars moment, our favourite flavour of doughtnut and more.

Irrational Treasure (Bonus S37 Review)
It's the 800th episode, well, not really, but let's review it anyway. This episode is for anyone who has ever lost a pet, as we get a real insight into the loving bond between Marge and Santa's Little Helper.
A spin on the National Treasure franchise, here we see Marge and Homer take a trip to Philadelphia, where they get caught up in a centuries-long treasure hunt that can only be solved with the help of their beloved pooch.

Thursdays With Abie (S21E09)
Yeah this one was a bit of a stinker, despite Grampa finally getting some much-needed respect. A parody of Mitch Albom's Tuesdays With Morrie, this episode sees a human itnerest writer try to monetise Grampa's rambles, with an even more sinister plan for the old man himself.
Meanwhile, we get a real nothign subplot of Bart needing to look after a toy lamb for a school project.
We also discuss water parks, the show's evolution to more Family Guy-esque structure and more.

O Brother, Where Bart Thou? (S21E08)
Bart wants a brother, so he (kinda) kidnaps an orphan for a day. Honestly, this was a fairly weak story that was filled with the usual unjustified rudeness and angst that tended to pop up in the "teen era" of the show.
There's also a really odd South Park parody that doesn't seem to know why it's there.Despite all this, Dando was once again a big fan of the Homer/Marge story. Maybe this is confirmation that he is indeed getting old.
We also discuss "grape snakes", the best Monopoly token, the stand-out performance from...

A Tale Of Two Santas (Tales Of Futurama Patreon Exclusive)
To celebrate the holidays, here's a Patreon Exclusive episode of Tales Of Futurama...for FREE!
It's the lost episode! Honestly, this wasn't the greatest Xmas episode we've seen. It's just a bit of a downer, which is the opposite of what we were looking for. Xmas eps are the safeground for warm-and-fuzzy cliches, this one went a different direction. A bold strategy, not sure it paid off for 'em.
Essentially, Robot Santa is frozen in ice, which leaves Bender to take the reigns as the new Santa. A fun twist on the old "Santa replacement" story...

Bart is shocked to learn that there was once a better prankster at Springfield Elementary, and it turns out to be Jonah Hill! Well, kinda. Honestly, a pretty fun episode that pokes fun at youtuber pranks, as well as OTT parents who think everything is unhealthy.

The Devil Wears Nada (S21E05)

And so did this episode, where she posed for a sexy calendar and got extra horny, unfortunately Homer's new job as Carl's assistant (who was promoted to supervisor), means he's unable to act on it. It then ends up with Marge considering sleeping with Flanders...yeah.
A lot of relatability here but also a lot that just felt unfinished or unnecessary. We also discuss sex games, kids complaining over nothing, our thoughts on Mountain Dew and more.
