Harris Fantasy Football Podcast

Every NFL campaign is filled with surprises! We convince ourselves we know what's coming, and then largely it turns out we absolutely don't. Right around the midway point of the fantasy football season is a great time to take stock and count down the stuff that has *most* surprised us in 2026. We'll also review a pretty terrible Thursday night game between the Jags and Ravens, look at the Week 9 injury news that'll influence our fantasy football lineup, and play another great listener mixtape! Guest: Cousin Josh.

Bears/Seahawks was a clash of very good teams that did not disappoint: and the Bears winning on the road in Seattle announces them as a true contender, plus their offense seems like it'll simply be one of the best for the remainder of 2026. We'll talk through the Monday night result, and we'll get to the rest of the Week 8 game film that we didn't talk about on Monday. And then it's time to spin it forward and begin talking about Week 9, to begin that process, let's do a waiver wire! Make those fantasy football teams better! Guest: Jake...

What's next for the Ravens post-Lamar? How did the Cowboys lose that game? Are the Vikings doomed at 6-1 because of Kyler Murray? We have so much Week 8 football to talk about...so let's talk about it! We've watched eight of the Sunday games all the way through, we'll tell you what we think we saw, and hopefully use the information to go beyond the box score (and the "analytics") to make your actual fantasy football team better! Let's hand out the hardware for what's been a fun and profitable first half of the 2026 fantasy football season. Who's been Most Valuable? Who's been Least Valuable? Who do we think is about to fall off a cliff? And where did Cousin Josh have his most annoying meal of the year? We'll give out our Midseason Huggy & Baggy Awards today, plus we'll review the Panthers/Packers Thursday night tilt and touch on the injury news we'll be tracking over the weekend. Let's get ready for Week 8! We're picking out five players we're not sure what to do with in fantasy football lineups for this weekend -- start/sit guys who could wind up at your flex or on your bench. We're also doing a deep dive into the film of second-year Bears wide receiver Luther Burden to see what he looks like in a successful season so far. And we'll pick some lineups for DraftKings DFS. It's a packed show! Enjoy! Guests: Denny Carter of Rotoworld and DFS Expert Jake Trowbridge.

Saquon Barkley seems destined to join many other injured Eagles on your fantasy bench, while the Cowboys -- emotionally fragile as they are -- scored like crazy on Monday night. On today's pod, we'll review the rest of the Week 7 game film to go beyond the box score and make you smarter! Then it's time to spin it forward and think about Week 8, and that begins with a Waiver Wire with some intriguing wide receiver names on it, and some lottery ticket running backs you need! Guest: Brandon Funston of The Athletic.

Sunday's most impressive quarterback performance might've been...J.J. McCarthy??? It's arguable! Our Week 7 game film breakdowns begin today, and McCarthy was just terrific for the Giants: we'll talk about what we saw in that overtime win over the Texans, and in seven *other* games that played out on Sunday. How did Josh Jacobs look in his return? What can you take away from the Bucs' offensive explosion? Did Bo Nix cure what ails him? We'll discuss those games and many more to make those fantasy football teams better! Guest: Jamey Eisenberg from CBS Fantasy.

When we do fantasy football drafts, we should try and make perceived offensive situations matter as little as we can, because we're *bad* knowing which teams will be good beforehand. But six games in? We have a much better idea, and situations matter *so* much. So our main topic today will be assessing which offenses are wagons, which are surprises or disappointments, and more. Plus we'll review the Bears' exciting win over the Patriots and discuss the injury names we need to know for Week 7! Guest: Cousin Josh.

It's a tough week for fantasy football lineups. Heck, *every* week is a tough week for fantasy football lineups! Today we'll focus in on some players *you* might be considering starting or sitting for Week 7, including the looming Josh Jacobs question. We'll also preview the attractive Thursday night Patriots/Bears contest, pick teams for DraftKings DFS, catch up on the listener snarkbag, and play not one but *two* incredible new mixtapes. It's a fun one! Guests: Jeff Bell of FootballGuys.com and DFS Expert Jake Trowbridge.

What the heck was going on in the NFL's Week 6 with comebacks? On today's podcast, we'll review the rest of the Week 6 action with an eye toward your fantasy football team, and in each one, a team's huge lead got erased by a frantic comeback -- and in a few cases, the comeback led to a win! A crazy week with a lot of injuries and more film to help us make good fantasy decisions...and for Week 7, that begins with a waiver wire with many interesting speculative adds! What is up with the Cowboys offense? What in the world happened to the Rams? Are the Texans and Jaguars suddenly always going to score a billion points? There's no way to tell any of this by looking at box scores: you have to watch the games! And that's what we do every week...we've got eight of the Week 6 Sunday contests for you in film-review form, and we'll tell you what we think we saw! Plus we'll preview Monday night's Commanders/Niners tilt. Guest: Patrick Daugherty of Rotoworld.

Like jazz, sometimes fantasy football is all about the trades you *don't* make. Our main topic for today's show is players who've started the 2026 season hotter than expected, but we don't particularly want to sell high on them, and players who've started colder than expected, but we don't really want to buy low. Of course, there are always exceptions, and so we *will* actually suggest some possible deals, but also warn you away from some potential landmines. Plus we'll review the sleepy Thursday night Broncos win over the Seahawks, and review the injury names you need to know for...

Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love has pretty much been a fantasy football disaster so far. But let's not allow the fact that it's looking like we made a good call on the kid force us to paint him with too broad a brush. Does he look injured? Are the Cardinals simply hopeless? What's he done on film so far? We'll do a Love Film Futures on today's podcast, plus discuss some difficult start/sit lineup decisions for Week 6, preview Thursday night's Seahawks/Broncos game, and fill out our DraftKings DFS lineups! Guests: Dave Kluge of FootballGuys.com and DFS...

The Bills and Rams put on a show worthy of the best game of the year, and one we'd be thrilled to see a rematch of...in February. We'll talk about Monday night's wild affair, and how *almost* every single fantasy option got home. Plus we'll break down the rest of the Week 5 game film to go beyond the stat lines and box scores to give you fantasy football advice you can use, *and* we'll figure out which Week 6 waiver options can help you avoid bye-week hell! Guest: Jeff Erickson of Rotowire.

Some of the Week 5 NFL games were exciting. And some were very stupid! During today's film review, we've got some of both kinds, as we start to truly learn which offensive environments are beyond hope, and which might actually have a glimmer of life after all. The Packers? Heck, yeah, that was pretty great! The Eagles? The Broncos? The Chargers? Oof, buddy. Not amazing! Let's go beyond the box score and simply watch the games and see what the football tells us, beyond the stats! Guest: Sam Gold.

We are in prime fantasy football trade season, when the well-informed can prey upon the knee-jerk owners in our leagues. Let's devise some trades to potentially "sell-high" on some players we think the market might be overvaluing, or just see if we can consolidate in the direction of some players we like better. We'll also take a deep dive into Bucky Irving's wonderful Thursday night and scan the injury news for the problems brewing in Week 5. Guest: Cousin Josh.

We'll talk through it all, plus we'll think about your Week 1 fantasy football lineups with a little Flexual Healing nostalgia, and assemble some lineups for your DraftKings DFS in Week 1! We're putting this episode of the Yacht Club into the main feed, so everyone can get a taste! Today we'll mostly spend time on Week 1 ranks, and pick out players where injury or weirdness of short-term situation might cause us to put them lower (or higher?) in our weekly ranks than they were in our draft ranks. It's a fun list of guys, and hopefully we can help you build Week 1 fantasy football lineups. We'll also preview the Wednesday night Patriots/Seahawks opener, update the movie draft results, and say thanks for making Pound Foolish a best seller!

*** PLEASE NOTE THERE'S A BIT OF BAD LANGUAGE AND ADULT SUBJECT MATTER IN THIS CHAPTER ***

This is Chapter 21 from the audiobook version of my new novel, Pound Foolish.

Here's a description of the book:

Part locker room chronicle, part neo-noir, all American: Pound Foolish tackles a season-in-the-life of a pro football team that has a serial killer in its midst.

Someone is murdering women in the orbit of Detroit's NFL franchise. But also: a new season is kicking off and nobody can really prove anything. Plus football is one of the...

We'll talk about that on today's pod. Plus: it's Pound Foolish publication day. I'm freaking out. Guest: Ben Gretch of the Stealing Signals newsletter.
