Come listen to a group of Doctor Who fans that range from recent enthusiast to long time followers. We break down and analyze the most recent episodes trying to figure what could be happening in the future as well as explain the references to the past. Join us in the fun that is Doctor Who!
The Whovian Review: The Daemons
Happy Halloween! Here is a scary episode of Who for you all to relish! The Daemons had the original team all together on location for Jon Pertwee's favorite story from his era. A fan favorite indeed, but how did it rate with the three judges on tonights podcast?! Happy spooky season!
The Whovian Review- The Rescue
Vicki joins the TARDIS in this 2 part story that is entertaining, yet somehow seems incomplete. Still we give our two cents on the story, update our long MIA news feed, and this episode is dedicated to Michael's and Younger Jeremy's Father/Grandfather who recently passed away. Stan, you are now amongst the stars! you are not falling, but flying.
The Whovian Review- The Claws of Axos
Warren, Jon and Michael all give their two claws, er, cents, on how much we enjoyed this episode. Crazy drunken bicyclists aside, we were entertained by the shear volume of color (colour if you are from the UK)and organic eyeballs hanging around this spaceship. But where does this story rate in the Pertwee era?
The Whovian Review- The Time Monster
We dive into the Daisiest of daisies, and discover the lost city of Atlantis back when it existed. Ingrid Pitt, a naked Sgt. Benton, a frozen time Brigadier, Dr. Ruth, TOMTIT, and a flying winged man all invade the television in this very different Doctor Who story. But did we like this one?
The Whovian Review- The King's Demons
Well we have come to our final Fifth Doctor non-special episode. The Master, Kamelion, Turlough, the King, Tegan, and the Fifth Doctor become entangled in a very short plot full of sword fights and music?! Karl joins us as we give this story a chance.
The Whovian Review- Arc of Infiniti
We question the possibility of Omega and Tegan Jovanka's cousin sleeping in the same crypt in the middle of Amsterdam as we try to figure out exactly what Omega created to pick off Tegan's cousin in the first place. Nyssa with a gun, Maxil seemingly looks familiar, Time Lords, The Castellan, Alfred from Keaton era Batman shows up, and somehow the Doctor gets stuck with Tegan again at the end.
The Whovian Review- Timeflight
Check out our latest story, Timeflight! Ok, we admit, the ratings may be somewhat predictable, but did we enjoy this story at all? Warren and Michael discuss this classic Davison story that really isn't the most classic tale from this universe. And what exactly was a certain character thinking when devising such a harebrained scheme?
The Whovian Review- Earthshock
Beautiful events is what life is all about! The gang get dragged into a cave of nightmares where killer droids are taking out a human expedition one by one. When the Doctor finds out who is behind the murders, all hell breaks loose! A riveting tale of sadness, fear, isolation, and time travel, but how does the Whovian Review team feel about this one?
The Whovian Review- The Visitation
We take a look at this semi-historical story from season 19!
The Whovian Review- Kinda
We take a look at the snake, the Mara, the Colonel, The Fool, and Hindle in this intriguing conversation of the origins of this story. The third Peter Davison story is definitely different from anything that has come before, but did we like this tale of evil from within?
The Whovian Review- Four to Doomsday
Heading back to the first Peter Davison story ever produced, we give our 2 cents on this classic story from Season 19. We discuss the good, the bad, and the frogs! The TARDIS is very crowded, and Adric is acting completely out of his mind, but with some historical references, and intriguing dance routines, does this story fail to entertain, or just miss the mark with the three of us? One thing is for certain, The Doctor's hair was very short compared to his first story, Castrovalva. By the way, do you all sense a pattern to our releases now?
The Whovian Review- The Snowmen
Okay, so after going through our vast catalogue we realized we made a mistake and forgot one very important episode! Without further ado we take a look back our final rated Matt Smith story, thus completing all of the more recent Doctor Who run. Warren and Jon join Michael, and Jeremy puts in his rating at the end. We kind of come full circle as we started this podcast with the Bells of St. John and have finally put up the story that precedes it. Hope you enjoy!
The Whovian Review- The Rings of Akhaten Special Edition
Back in 2013, Jeremy and I gave our initial reaction to this newly released story. 13 years later Michael has updated the episode to include our theme song, edit out the bits meant for the first episode, and added our current thoughts on the episode. One rating was updated, and this time we have a new special edition edit that sounds a bit more like our usual podcasts. Hope you enjoy, and here's to another 13 years! Oh and listen to the very end as we have an end credits bit.
The Whovian Review- The Bells of St. John Special Edition
Going back to our very first episode ever, I have reedited this episode to update the music, ratings, and overall sound so that this episode is better than it was before. Previously we had no theme song, and no background sound for our first two episodes. Now we are upgraded in all our glory to include present day podcasters at the end, and music throughout. Please enjoy this very special edition of our very first episode. some content recorded in 2013, and some recorded in 2026!
The Whovian Review- The Daleks Masterplan
Warren and Michael watch and rate the first 5 episodes of this epic classic including the newly recovered Episodes 1 and 3! We discuss the missing episodes, what could still be out there, and we use our knowledge (having watched reconstructions, listened to audio versions and watched episode 10) of the remaining 7 episodes to give our take on this First Doctor story! For episode 4 we watched Ian Levine's inspired AI version to fill in the gap between 3 and 5. Still, there is nothing like seeing Adrienne Hill's performance back on our screens! Not to mention Nicholas Courtney's first full Doctor Who episode! Enjoy!
The Whovian Review- Angels Take Manhattan
Warren, John and Michael take a look at the final episode involving Amy and Rory as companions, and another amazing River Song story. This episodes marks the completion of all of the current Doctor Who (9-15), and a shout out to Sophie for our intro! It's been a long time in the making, and thank you for continuing with us on this journey! More to come in the coming weeks!
The Whovian Review- The Power of Three
Warren and Michael take a look at this Chris Chibnall episode, and ponder the point of the Shakri, an alien race that wants to rid the universe of humanity by using little black cubes. And waiting. And waiting. And waiting before they open said cubes!?
The Whovian Review- A Town Called Mercy
Michael and Warren are joined by Charlie, who was on the podcast a while ago, and we take a look at the Season 7 Part 1 episode that brings us back to the Wild Wild West! The Doctor, Amy, and Rory materialize near an 1800's town run by someone who looks like they stepped off of Farscape with a Stetson and a 'stache! But who is the doctor held captive by the sheriff? And how does the town have electricity. Small technical issues until rating time, but we got it figured out...
The Whovian Review- Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Warren, Jon, and I enjoy a fun romp of an episode, and one that doesn't require a field handbook to decipher. With that said, some emotional moments with a Triceratops named Tracy, a TARDIS gang, Brian, and a Queen Nefertiti loving David Bradley round out a highly entertaining episode.
The Whovian Review- Asylum of the Daleks
We reach back to Season 7 and finally get a chance to talk about this underrated story. The start of updated title sequences, self contained stories, and the end of an amazing era is nigh. What did all of us think about this story?!
The Whovian Review- The God Complex
Reaching back into the vaults we came across an episode that never made it to distribution, and although great attempts to post this one episode, it never found its way out of the missing vault! So without further ado, we present our recently found again episode from the Season 6 era. Look for more recovered episodes from the past coming this year, both for The Whovian Review, and Doctor Who!
The Whovian Review- The Twin Dilemma Revisited
Warren and Jon give their take as classic fans, and then my son Jeremy gives his take as a newer fan of this infamous story. Do any of us consider this the worst story in Doctor Who's history? Is there anything redeeming with this particular tale? Who rates this story higher than everyone else, and who will suggest that there is some actual character development happening in the story. If we could just get past episode 1, and more to the point this story has the greatest range in scores during this one podcast I believe I have seen yet!<...
The Whovian Review- The Caves of Androzani Revisited!
Father and son duo Michael and Jeremy both talk about the greatest 5th Doctor story. What will someone think of it in 2026 after seeing the whole thing for the first time? Also, stay tuned toward the end for Warren's review of this popular story!
The Whovian Review- Planet of Fire Revisited
Warren and Jon share their insights into this unique Doctor Who story from Season 21. We did watch the Special Edition version on the DVD, and although this was watched in 2013, it just felt right to say goodbye to Turlough and hello to Peri. Hope you enjoy!
The Whovian Review- Resurrection of the Daleks
Michael, Jeremy, and Warren tackle the grim and deadly fourth story of Season 21. Commander Lytton makes his debut, and Davros is interesting again. But will the fate of one companion change the Doctor forever? Beautifully realized given the budget, but we have some complaints. We watched the DVD version. Soon the BluRay for Season 21 will be out with an all new version. Can't wait!
The Whovian Review- Frontios
Jeremy, Jon, Warren and Michael tackle yet another Season 21 story. Season 21 will be the next Bluray boxset release in England!
The Whovian Review- The Awakening
Jeremy, Warren, and Michael zip through this shorter 2 part story from Season 21. The Malus wreaks havoc on modern day Earth which happens to put Tegan's Grandfather in danger! Peter Davison, Janet Fielding and Mark Strickson lead the cast of this 1984 underrated story.
The Whovian Review- Warriors of the Deep
Warren, Jon, and Michael take a look at the first story from Season 21. The Myrka gets karate chopped in the most hilarious way, but what did we really think about this 5th Doctor story? Does the base under siege story hold up, or does it sink beneath the myrky waters?
The Whovian Review- The Macra Terror
Warren and Michael take a look at this Patrick Troughton classic from Season 4. Ben, Polly, Jamie, and the Doctor all go to a very happy world where everyone loves working, and entertaining the general population, but all may not be as happy as one might think. This is the 300th story we have rated!
The Whovian Review- The Moonbase
Warren and Michael take a look at this classic story DVD with animated episodes 1 and 3. The animation is stellar, atmospheric, and rather close to the feel of the original episodes! But how does the story hold up with us? A solid classic, a masterpiece, or a dud? Is the Doctor a little demanding? Does Jamie have much to do here? Do the Cybermen enjoy sugar?
The Whovian Review- The Underwater Menace
Like the story, the production values for this audio are a little lower than usual due to a change in computer at the time of recording. Turn up your volume to hear John, Warren, and Michael discuss this classic Patrick Troughton story! We will be bringing you some more Patrick Troughton stories as we watch them!
The Whovian Review- Logopolis
This podcast was recorded last November, but we decided to wait until all of the other Tom Baker stories were released before posting his final story. The swan song that most had an emotional response to due to the man himself, Tom Baker, left the role, and turned it over to Peter Davison! This was such a fun episode to edit and talk about. The Watcher, The Master, Adric, Tegan Jovanka, the return of Nyssa, radio towers, planets full of mathematicians, logic, materializing the TARDIS underwater, and so much more chaos and fun kept us wondering what would happen...
The Whovian Review- Shada
Shada, the one never completed Classic Doctor Who story is our topic today! This story has been told, retold, reedited, animated, released on audio with different Doctors, and has had two K9 actors take on Douglas Adam's curious script. We watch the most recent version included on the Season 17 Bluray release. Warren, Jeremy, and unsurprisingly Michael are on this one again.
The Whovian Review- Revenge of the Cybermen
Warren, Jeremy, and Michael try to count down the rankings for this particular story that made us laugh, and gave us some joy to watch thanks to Tom Baker being there to begin with. As the first ever VHS release for this show, was this a worthy story to be number 1? Harry Sullivan is an imbecile, Sarah Jane attracts Cybermats, and gold seems to be the scariest part of this story (for Cybermen).
The Whovian Review- The Reality War
Thank you to Hayden Powell for posting your gorgeous music to Youtube. He created it masterfully. Anywho, the gang dives into the crazy and zany Series 15/2 finale. Tears, joy, chaos, missed opportunities, last minute changes, and Billie?! We discuss all of the points, and dissect this story from start to finish. The most intense edit I've had to do in a while, but totally worth it.
The Whovian Review- Wish World
The Rani finds the seventh son of the seventh son of the seventh son who turns out to be a wishing child. Conrad wishes a whole world where the roles of everyone in the Whoniverse have changed drastically, and the Doctor and Belinda have a child, Poppy!? The Rani, er the Master like Rani, has huge plans to bring back someone else from the Doctor's past, but in the meantime we need to tackle the review of this first part to the finale of Season 2 or as many know it, season 15.
The Whovian Review- The Interstellar Song Contest
Dugga Doo everyone! We sing our praises or dissent on this lavish episode with reveals, action, harmony, and little pink alien creatures singing one of the weirdest and most catchy cute songs of 2025. Will we be won over by this episode, or will these vocals land on flat ears? Listen to our music as we provide a walk through the Interstellar Song Contest.
The Whovian Review- The Story and the Engine
We dive into this tale of the Doctor dropping in at a local barber's shop in Nigeria. Being forced into the chair to tell stories, the Doctor doesn't realize he is generating fuel for the barbershop which exists in an alternate plane of existence, and needs stories in order to generate movement. Lets see how the actual author's of the group react to this story. (Shelby and Jeremy the Elder).
The Whovian Review- Lucky Day
Colin, Shelby, and Michael tackle this Doctor lite episode which is the fourth in Disney's Season 2. Ruby Sunday returns for another outing as she works for UNIT and meets Conrad, a podcasting hottie, who turns her head and heart towards someone who appears kind like the Doctor. Music clips are here thanks to Brambles & Stars. Find his beautiful recreations on YouTube!
The Whovian Review- The Well
Jeremy, Lou, and Michael all discuss this sequel episode in stereo! Will we appreciate the story? Will the science hold up? And will the Doctor's tears be warranted? These topics and more are discussed over this creepy and stylistic episode. Just don't go behind someone if they are sitting still in the middle of what seems like and empty room!
