Real life vs. Human Design: What do you tell your kids when you need to work?

What do you tell your kids when you need to work?

Because it's one thing to decide you're going to sit down and get something done - it's another thing when the kids are around, you're trying to focus, and everyone has their own ideas about whether you're actually available.

This conversation got into the very practical side of making work time work when you're a parent.

When can you work without the kids around? What happens when they're home? What boundaries need to be in place so that work time doesn't be...

Inside the chart: Six kids and one recording block (who wins??)

She can lose a couple of days researching something for her website…. Then she comes out the other side wondering whether it was even important in the first place.

Sound familiar? 😂

And that's happening alongside homeschooling six kids, working around their activities, and trying to find a couple of hours to record content once a week.

The schedule itself actually isn't looking too bad - there's a routine - there are places where she can get business work done….

But there were two things we needed to look at...

Real life vs. Human Design: You DO know you can delegate to your kids - right??
Last Thursday at 12:00 PM

Doctor's appointment.
Work.
Rest.
The creative stuff.

And when one thing gets moved, everything else gets shoved around to make room for IT.

That's where the bucket system started making sense for this conversation. Because it's one thing to put something on the calendar, and another to know you've actually protected time for it.

We also got into the kids taking on more responsibility over the summer, whether she really needed a team in her business, and why hiring more people isn't automatically the answer.

<...

Inside the chart: Your kids don't care about your work block.
Last Wednesday at 12:00 PM

You have ten hours a week to work on your business.

TEN.

And then the kids interrupt - bedtime takes longer than expected - somebody needs you…. And suddenly the afternoon you thought you'd have to work is turning into a whole thing.

So, of course, you start trying to figure out how to MAKE the schedule work.

But what if part of the problem is the expectation that those hours should go exactly as planned?

This reading got into the mental story behind bedtime, the need fo...

Real life vs. Human Design: She wants to go to Scotland, but she's still labeling bottles.
Last Tuesday at 12:00 PM

She can feel the big-picture success she's working toward. So why does she keep getting pulled into today's sales numbers?

There's a trip to Scotland she'd thought she'd have the money for by now. There's a Facebook business page she's checking to see whether people have been polite or just harassing her. And there's the ongoing frustration of being busy all day and STILL not getting the bottle labels on.

So in this reading, we get into what happens when you stop letting the pressure to make sales dictate your entire workday. We...

Myth Alert: Don’t Sacrifice Your Ambition to Get Your Time Back
Last Monday at 12:00 PM

You want more free time - but you’re not willing to give up your ambition to get it.

You’re not going to stop showing up for your kids, and you’re not going to stop growing your business. So where exactly is that time supposed to come from?

Because there’s one place I think you’ve forgotten to look.

All the stuff in your home and business that doesn’t actually need to be done by you.

The podcast editing. The show notes. The client reminders. The meal pla...

Inside the chart: A perfectly good schedule… except for ONE annoying little problem.
10/31/2026

Remember the dog walker episode? We're doing a redo. 😂

The first time around, we got into Tami's work style, the puppy, and how much smoother her day goes when she has the right support in place.

But now she knows her birth time.

So we get to look at her chart again and see what changes. And this time, we found something that makes a BIG difference to how she actually organizes her workday.

In the original reading, we were looking at pre-planning tasks for specific times and days.

<...

Real life vs. Human Design: The tidy-desk, 47-hobbies situation
10/30/2026

She likes a plan - she also likes approximately everything.

Because she's meant to have a normal workday, a bunch of different things she enjoys doing in her business, and all kinds of different hobbies outside of it.

So if she's been trying to narrow everything down to ONE thing because that's what productivity advice says to do? We need to have a conversation. 😂

But here's the other part of her work style: she actually wants structure.

A tidy workspace. Tasks at specific times. Projects broken down into step-by-step act...

Inside the chart: You had a schedule. Then the house elves showed up.
10/29/2026

She thought by now she'd have figured out how to make room for the beach.

Instead, she gets the schedule working beautifully for a month or two…. Then realizes she's holding the whole thing together with bubble gum and tape.

(She's been busy onboarding clients, building a CRM, and recovering from surgery.) 😂

And then there’s the laundry. The unexpected phone call. The shiny thing that suddenly seems much more interesting than whatever she was supposed to be doing.

So we got into what it looks like for her to work...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your chart just canceled the launch checklist.
10/28/2026

She wants absolutely no one telling her which step to do next.

Okay, I love this combo. 😂

Because you might look at her work style and think, great, let's make a schedule. Put the projects in their slots. Break everything into steps. Build the launch checklist.

And then you've accidentally built the exact thing that's going to make her work harder than it needs to.

‘Cause she wants to choose which project gets her attention in a particular block of time. And once she's inside that project? She wants to fo...

Inside the chart: Uh-oh, your Human Design is the lazy one.
10/27/2026

What if this gets to be easy?

That's the question I want her asking when she gets stuck.

Because she's naturally going to look for the lowest-lift path. The easiest way this could actually work.

Not 47 possible solutions.
Not every hole that could go wrong.
Not another giant list of things to fix.

Just... how could I let this be easy?

And then there's the very real problem of trying to do creative work while the kids are home.

We got into what...

Your Kids Aren’t Going to Magically Start Doing the Dishes
10/26/2026

You’re allowed to want more free time.

Unrushed mornings. Actual lunch breaks. Evenings filled with things you enjoy. A house where you’re not the one managing every single detail.

And you’re allowed to want all of that while still being ambitious about your business.

But nobody’s going to magically show up and decide you need more support. Your kids aren’t suddenly going to start doing the dishes. Your team isn’t going to spontaneously take over the responsibilities you’ve never actually handed off.

You have to decide what...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your chart is going to poke the bear.
10/24/2026

“What can I do to fix this problem?”

That question might sound like a recipe for making yourself crazy.

But for her? It's actually how her brain naturally engages with things.

She sees the problem. She pokes at it. She starts looking for the thing that could make it work better.

So we don't need to turn that off - but we do need to stop treating it like a character flaw. 😂

And then there's the other interesting piece: she likes structure around when she works, but once sh...

Inside the chart: Your Human Design is bored.
10/23/2026

She had 3 and a half hours with no client... and had no idea what she wanted to do with them.

So we started talking about whether she needed more freedom.

And then her chart basically said: Maybe you need a menu. 😂

You know, like pre-chosen things you already know you enjoy. Projects. Tasks. Possibilities.

Then you get to look at the list and go, “Ooh. THAT sounds fun today.”

Which is a very different kind of “in flow” than just staring at a blank afternoon and hoping inspiration...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your brain has entered its “absolutely not” era.
10/22/2026

What if you're not supposed to be “on” every day?

That's one of the biggest things we got into here.

Because as a Manifestor, you might have a day where you're absolutely lit up and ready to make something happen.

And then... nothing.

No desire. No energy. No interest in doing the thing.

Except maybe something fun. 😂

So instead of trying to force a consistent amount of output every single day, this reading gets into what it could look like to build around those burst/rest cy...

Inside the chart: Your Human Design would like its 14 hours back.
10/21/2026

She spent almost 14 hours dealing with tiny pop-up tasks.

Fourteen. Hours.

And none of that time was actually accounted for in the schedule. 😯

So of course the things she really wanted to do kept getting pushed to the bottom.

You know, writing. Drawing. Resting…. The stuff that's actually for her.

And this is where the reading got really interesting, because her chart isn't telling her to just “be more flexible” - she wants certain things happening at certain times - but once she's in the project, she wants to...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your Human Design has a database problem.
10/20/2026

The database was out of date.

And suddenly this wasn't just a database problem - it was a “how do I make this feel easy enough that I’ll actually do it?” problem.

So we started there.

Because her brain naturally wants to know: Do we have enough time for this? Do we have the right support? Is this actually sustainable? What happens if I add this to the week?

That isn't her being fearful or difficult - it's her internal security meter doing exactly what it's designed to do.

What If Your Business Is Supposed to Work Like YOU?
10/19/2026

What if the “easier” version of your business isn't some unicorn life you have to figure out how to force into existence??

What if it's just what naturally happens when you stop working against yourself?

Because maybe you don't need the 14-step morning routine.
Maybe you do your best work alone.
Maybe you need to work from the sofa.
Maybe you need to change the plan when your brain says, “Actually, THIS is what I want to work on today.”

And that's not you being difficult - that's you being YOU.

...

Inside the chart: Your Human Design wants a schedule. Just not THAT schedule.
10/17/2026

She already knew time blocking worked - she just wasn't using it.

And the question wasn't really, “How do I make myself be more disciplined?”

It was: What would make this feel like something I get to do?

Because her chart actually wants structure.

A tidy workspace. Certain things happening at certain times. Step-by-step plans ready to go.

But here's the part that makes this interesting…. She doesn't want the schedule to decide everything for her.

She wants to be able to look at that time b...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your Human Design wants more tabs open.
10/16/2026

What do you need to feel more secure about this?

That’s the question I want her asking when she feels stuck.

Because her brain is naturally going to look around the corner.

Do we have enough money?Do I have the right people?Do we actually have time for this? What happens if we add this to the week?

That “yes, but have you considered THIS?” thing isn't a problem to get rid of - it’s how she’s designed to make decisions.

And then we got into her w...

Inside the chart: Your Human Design has opinions about your desk.
10/15/2026

What if you're actually supposed to choose what you work on?

Not have every single priority decided three weeks in advance.

Not follow a perfectly pre-planned schedule.

Not force yourself to focus on one thing just because somebody told you that's how productive people work.

We got into this really interesting combination of wanting freedom to choose what feels like the right thing to work on... while still wanting step-by-step plans for how to actually do it.

So yes, there's structure - just maybe not the kind...

Real life vs. Human Design: Your Human Design needs a dog walker.
10/14/2026

Someone told her to focus on ONE thing.

Which was probably terrible advice. 😂

Because she's a Manifesting Generator. She's meant to have a normal work day and a bunch of different things that actually light her up.

So we got into what happens when you've got a brain that wants lots of things going on... and you're trying to force yourself to focus on one thing because that's what you're “supposed” to do.

And then the real-life problem underneath all of it?

The puppy.

Yep. 😂

Inside the chart: Your Human Design can't take a nap for you.
10/13/2026

She needed to work less - which sounds obvious when you're talking about a Projector.

Except she also needs to delegate a LOT to make that actually possible.

And then we got REALLY specific about her work style. ‘Cause she wants structure.

Same place, same time. Pre-chosen tasks at specific times.

But once she's inside the project? She wants to just see what her brain pulls out as the next step.

Very structured about when she works - very flexible about what happens next.

The Real Problem with Your Balance… Isn't Your Business
10/12/2026

What if you're actually really good at business?

Like, you could solve the team problem. Figure out the webinar. Fix the conversion issue. Have the hard conversation.

….IF somebody would just give you the problems one at a time.

Because that's the real issue.

It's not that you don't know how to solve business problems.

It's that you've got three things needing you at once, notifications going off everywhere, a kid getting sick, the dog barking, and absolutely ZERO margin to think.

So every new problem feels lik...

Real life vs. human design: She was trying to fit her business around her kids
10/10/2026

What if you aren't supposed to work all day?

Seriously. 😂

Because we spend SO much time trying to make ourselves be consistent like little productivity machines.

But what if that's actually the problem??

This reading got into what happens when you STOP trying to force yourself into somebody else's version of a “normal” workday.

Same coaching question - completely different answer once we put her Human Design underneath it.

Inside the chart: What if you need structure AND freedom?
10/09/2026

Okay, this one was interesting. Because she clearly needed some structure.

But the more we talked about how she actually works, the more I started seeing… the problem is the KIND of structure she's been trying to create.

You know that thing where you make a beautiful plan and then immediately want to do something completely different?

Yeah. We talked about that. 😂

This is what happens when you take a coaching question and run it through the actual person asking it.

Come listen to me pick this a...

Real life vs. human design: Your toddler doesn't care about your work block
10/08/2026

What if you don't actually need more time?

Because this woman had a pretty specific question about how to fit everything in. And I kept thinking….

Do we actually NEED to fit all this in??

Or, should we look at how she's USING her energy in the first place??

This one got into work, rest, capacity, and why “just use the time better” isn't always the answer.

Because the advice I'd give one woman isn't necessarily the advice I'd give another woman with the exact same problem - and th...

Inside the chart: What if your schedule changes every 24 hours?
10/07/2026

Some people's weeks are predictable.

Some people's weeks are…. Yeah.

This one is for the woman who makes a plan on Sunday, and by Tuesday morning it's basically historical fiction. 😂

So what do YOU actually need when your schedule refuses to behave??

That's what we got into.

We took the original coaching question, added her Human Design, and suddenly the answer got a LOT more specific.

Listen to this one →

If your schedule changes constantly, traditional time management advice can start to feel...

Real life vs. human design: She kept circling her top 3… and stalling out
10/06/2026

She knew what her top three were.

She had the list. She'd circled the things. Matter of fact, she'd stared at them WAY too long.

And somehow… she was still stuck.

So I started asking a few different questions.

Because when you've already tried the obvious productivity advice and you're STILL sitting there thinking, “Okay, but what the heck do I actually do??”...

I want to know what's underneath that. 😂

That's where these HD redos get fun. Same question - different woman - very different conversation.

You Can't Just Hope This Biz Setup Works Itself Out
10/05/2026

You don't just hope your funnel works.

You don't just hope your team knows what to do.

So why are you hoping your kids behave, your husband knows what you need, your routines somehow settle down, and your life magically gets streamlined next year?

It won't.

You have to decide what you actually want your Tuesday to look like, then structure it.

Because “busy” was never meant to be your operating system.

And if you keep waiting until you're hair-on-fire enough to make the changes, you're probably goin...

Inside the chart: What if you don't need to get your fire back?
10/03/2026

She thought she needed to get her motivation back - which immediately made me curious.

Because what if you don't actually need to get yourself fired up again??

What if there's something about this particular season that we should pay attention to instead of trying to bulldoze our way through it?

This one got into ambition, desire, rest, and that very weird feeling of knowing you could be doing more….

....But not actually wanting to.

We took a very normal coaching question and then asked, “Okay, but what does...

Real life vs. human design: She had the perfect work schedule - but wasn’t getting up
10/02/2026

What if you're not actually avoiding the work?

You know the thing.

You KNOW what needs to happen.

You sit down to do it.

And suddenly you need to reorganize something, check something, think about something, possibly make a cup of coffee…. 😂

This reading got into that whole “why the heck can't I just DO the thing?” problem and what might actually be going on underneath it.

Because this is where Human Design gets interesting. You can ask the exact same coaching question and get a completel...

Inside the chart: Apparently I needed my own reading.
10/01/2026

Okay. I've been doing these little chart readings for everybody ELSE…. 'Til I thought, “Hang on. What happens if I do it for MYSELF?” 😂

So that's what I did. And I got to hear myself say all the things I tell everybody else. Like:

“How can I let this be easy?”
“You probably need to delegate that.”
“You don't actually have to be working every day.”
“Stop building your life around somebody else's definition of consistency.”

Kinda rude. 😂

So yes. I did my own reading.

Real life vs. human design: She was trying to make every idea work.
09/30/2026

What if you stopped needing the next thing to work?

What if you could just… try it? What if you didn't have to know whether it was going to work before you started??

What if you could treat the whole thing like a little experiment?

Try something. See what happens. Get the data. Try again.

This reading really got into that energy - especially because once we looked at her actual business and life, there were some VERY obvious places to release that pressure.

...

Inside the chart: She couldn't stop looking for the next thing to fix.
09/29/2026

Some people look at a business and go, “Wow. This is working.”

She looks at it and goes, “Okay, but what's missing?” 😂

What are the gaps? What could make this better? What else needs to happen?

And when I saw that pattern in her reading, I wanted to talk about what happens when that way of seeing becomes your default setting.

Because it can be an incredible gift - especially when you’re in business for yourself.

For the Love of God, Just Have the Darn Coffee
09/28/2026

Where did our moment-by-moment enjoyment of life go?

Somewhere along the way, we started making our own happiness conditional on the next revenue goal, the next launch, the next metric, the next thing we can prove.

And meanwhile, there’s a whole world of quiet, daily happiness happening around us.

The coffee. The deep-focus work you actually enjoy. The kids playing. The beautiful afternoon you almost missed because you were trying to squeeze one more thing in.

If you’re realizing you’ve built a business that keeps eating those moments, the...

Real life vs. human design: Maybe you're not supposed to stop fixing things.
09/27/2026

This woman sees problems EVERYWHERE.

Gaps. Things that could work better. Processes that could be cleaner. Ways to improve the whole darn thing.

And I don't think the answer is to get her to STOP doing that. 😂

I think we need to see what happens when she stops treating that part of herself like a problem.

Because there are people who naturally see what could be better…. And how else are the systems gonna get fixed??

Inside the chart: Her brain was doing exactly what it was supposed to.
09/26/2026

She was trying to figure out why she kept wanting to do so many different things.

And underneath that was this constant little voice going: “But is this actually safe? Do we have enough time? Do we have enough support? What if...?”

So we had a very interesting conversation about the difference between a brain that's genuinely scattered… and a brain that's trying to make sure you've thought through all the angles before you move. 😂

Plus the whole “why are you trying to focus on one thing when you cl...

Real life vs. human design: Her chart said one thing - her life said another.
09/25/2026

Okay, this one was FUN.

Her chart said one thing - her actual behavior was telling me something else.

So I started asking questions.

Because if you've been told “this is your Human Design” and you're sitting there thinking… “Um. That doesn't sound anything like me….”

I want you to hear this reading.

We got into the possibility that she's been operating from years of conditioning around how much she's “supposed” to produce.

Inside the chart: She didn’t hate her business.
09/24/2026

She LOVES one side of her business - the coaching.

That's where her energy lights up.

Then there's the agency side…. And suddenly we're having a very different conversation.

So…. What if the answer isn't “you need more discipline”?

What if one part of the business needs to get smaller, get handed off, or stop taking up so much of your brain?

That's where this reading got really interesting.
