Welcome to November. I apologize for the lack of a proper Halloween episode. I am going into my second month on a feature working sixteen hour days. It's rough a trade. Anyways next week is our last week of filming. So working towards getting back into the swing of things. Tonight's show represents passing through the thin veil and into the dark season of winter.

The rain kinda sucks by spooky season is here! We are lifting out into October with style. I picked over a dozen eerie and weird tracks from Iowa's cauldron of spirits.

We have another evening of new material. Thank you to everyone that responded to my post on the IBT Instagram account. Everything tonight is either a new band or a new track minus our prodigal sons, Captain Three Leg. Also first time play from the ORIGINAL dungeon synth master Larry "the Wizard" Sievers.

Sometimes a lot of time goes by and tons of bands release new albums, new projects start or I just completely miss out on a band who was short lived. Tonight's show is packed full of either new material or stuff I just completely missed out.

I'm cruising around the state still. In the last week I have been in Sioux City, Dewitt, Long Grove and Bettendorf. I got a bunch wild tunes tonight. We are way behind in our interview schedule right now so hopefully this fall we can pick back up.

The annual Iowa Metal Underground Fest 2026 is here so if you are in Cedar Rapids get your butts to CSPS both Friday August 14th and Saturday August 15th. Tonight we got a good mix of loud jams from the last thirty years.

We are back this week and its August! We got a brand new play from The Fabulous F Bombs from Fort Dodge. We did into some old tunes from When Bitter Spring Sleeps, Idolist and Druids.

I am so sorry for being MIA for the last two weeks. I have been drowning in commercial and movie work.  But we are so back with an all electronics show playing bands from across the state who all dabble in the synth or wire world of instruments.

I am back on American soil. It is just as hot here as it was in the Caribbean. Tonight we got some hitters from The Rumours, Bat Problem and Camp Regret. We are building up for another round of interviews over the next few weeks.

Tonight we explore one of my favorite compilation series, The Iowa Compilation Volumes 1-6. I have played Vol 1 and 2 multiple times on this show but anything after that has been sparse. This series was the launching point for many music fans in Iowa. Super important to the state's history.

I am on my second week down in the French Caribbean. Last week I recorded from Turks & Caicos. Since then I have been to Guadeloupe and now I am in Dominica. It's tropical and rains every half hour.  We got a new tune from Phantom Lightkeeper, Justin Beahm's doom surf rock project that had its debut album last year with its follow up coming out in August.

Four hundred episodes. Some of you have gotten married, had kids and maybe a divorce or two. I have produced and recorded four hundred episodes of Iowa Basement Tapes. Tonight I play sort of a greatest hits tonight. Lots of classic bangers from across the state. A big thank you to all of our listeners both on the radio and the podcast.

Tonight I have a very special guest, the KFMG station manager, Gary Monte. If it wasn't for Gary, Iowa Basement Tapes would never had happened. I am the type of person who needs motivation sometimes and he got the show green lit for the radio back in 2018. On June 30th, 2026, he will be retiring. We play his Iowa playlist and talk about his history with Iowa radio.

This is a huge night for this show! First a brand new tune from Ill Omen, the first in two years. Second, Chuck Hoffman and Curtis Howard sent me the files for The Des Moines Four-Track Compilation Vol 1 LP. This is huge. I haven't played any song off of this record in over five years. I don't know what happened but Bandcamp would not let me download it anymore. So tonight we are playing almost ALL of it.

We have been talking about this interview for almost a year. Jason of Deep Fried Embryo is on the show. We recorded this episode in his town of McGregor, Iowa located deep in the Driftless region. Deep Fried Embryo is about to celebrate twenty years this April. We talk about house shows in Harpers Ferry, Milwaukee Metal Fest and the history of Iowa's oldest noisecore band.
