We've finally returned to our chronological watch through of the Clone Wars, and we're back with a bang! We are finally taking a look back at Andor's second season. Cad Bane's tale is a strong contender for the best of the series so far, up alongside Dooku's arc. From his background as a kid on the streets to finally putting on the iconic hat, it's interesting to see what led him to be the character we know and love from the Clone Wars. And even despite knowing how it ends up, they still manage to get some good tension into the finale, which is no easy feat. Let's jump in!

While in the short term it is somewhat overshadowed by the Mortis arc that followed it, in the long term this arc has far reaching effects on the Star Wars universe beyond just the animated shows. This week we begin one of the strongest arcs that Clone Wars has had to date, fleshing out the relationship between Asajj Ventress and Dooku, and adding the Nightsisters to George's highest tier of canon. An excellent episode written by Katie Lucas, it walks the fine line of respecting what came before in the EU while adding just enough new info to make things exciting! Let's jump in!

These two episodes combine to make one really fun "gangster" arc, with gratuitous violence and some absolutely ridiculous scenes that could only work in Star Wars. Clone Wars third season gets its first four episode arc, even if one of those episodes is technically from season one, but we get more Cad Bane so who's complaining? Both episodes have something to love about them, from getting to visit a scenic Alderaan to listening to Anthony Daniel's have a great time as C-3PO, so even if the stories themselves aren't the best they're still enjoyable to watch. Well, we have discovered that the Chronological list does appear to be wrong, at least in this case. These two episodes, we believe, are actually the first two episodes of Season 3, and they are maybe the best examples of standalone episodes we have seen so far. Each episode showcases a totally different side of The Clone Wars but they both to it really well. Let's jump in!

We return to Mandalore to investigate some smugglers who are flooding the black markets with *checks notes* poisoned tea? In what feels inspired by a 1950s black and white noir detective mystery, Satine and Padme team up to figure out who is benefitting from the current instability on Mandalore. While Merc finds the episode to be one of the best Star Wars live action episodes he's seen, Kutch is a bit less impressed. We continue our watch-through with a very typical Clone Wars episode with some fun lightsaber fights and exciting battles, followed by half of an episode which discusses the moral quandary with using Clones, with the other half being a continuation of the less than exciting chase for Grievous. We end up wishing that the focus had been entirely on the Clones, and the question of whether they are allowed to have free-will, but it does lay some interesting groundwork for later seasons of Clone Wars and The Bad Batch. We finally end our five episode "Second Battle of Geonosis" arc with a two-part horror story line, which we find to be one of the most unique stories told in all of Clone Wars. Somehow managing to delightfully toe the line between scary and fun, it leaves both of us wishing we had more horror themes in Star Wars content. Let's jump in!

We continue on, a week delayed, with the middle part of our 5-part Geonosis arc. Standing strong on their own, Landing at Point Rain channels the best parts of Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan without becoming too adult, and Weapons Factory takes a hard look at the master-padawan relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin, in a way that is strongly reminiscent of some scenes we have seen recently in Ahsoka's own show. A surprisingly decent episode that feels like the first real attempt at fleshing out Anakin and Padme's relationship in the Clone Wars, and also serves as a bridge to the Geonosis arc. We were surprised to learn that this episode was actually referencing a Hitchcock movie, Notorious, from 1946, which helps to explain why the story ends so strongly. Let's jump in!
