While preparing for her VCE exams, Year 12 student Nanami Tosa took on an extra challenge: organising a charity event to support recovery efforts following the Kumamoto earthquake. October 29 is World Ballet Day. Sydney-based ballet teacher Hanako Kitazawa has spent more than two decades helping young dancers find their feet. Before opening her own school, she performed professionally as a soloist in ballet and opera productions. Today, she brings that wealth of experience to the studio, combining technical excellence with the attention to detail and discipline she developed through her Japanese training. Making a difference at 10: From football gear donations to a childrens book - ケニアへ届けたサッカーギア、その出会いが生んだ絵本出版：10歳のチャリティ活動家・田草川慧
Sydney-based 10-year-old Kei Takusagawa has been fundraising and making donations to support underprivileged children since he was eight years old. Earlier this year, he travelled to Kenya to personally deliver football gear and funds he had helped raise. Miyako Matsui, a Japanese language teacher based on the NSW South Coast, spent her childhood moving between Japan and Australia and later worked as a junior high school English teacher in Japan. She says that experiencing both the frustration of not understanding English and the struggle of not being able to speak Japanese has ultimately become one of her greatest strengths. Bees play a vital role in pollinating crops and supporting global food production. Their decline could have far-reaching consequences not only for ecosystems, but also for our daily lives. Yasuki Funahashi, who advocates for bee conservation, travels across Japan and around the world to raise awareness of environmental issues through public speaking and educational activities. SBS Japanese spoke with Mr Funahashi during his visit to Melbourne for an event.
