Is Healthcare Good? Sound Off in the Comments episode artwork
Yesterday at 8:45 PM

As Sam tries to get back in the swing of things as a podcaster again, the Party Girls team explores some of their favorite topics. Luigi Mangione acted alone, what does that say about our society? Is Medicare for All worth fighting for? As some liberals like to insist, does he actually have anything in common with the alleged Charlie Kirk assassin? Why do leftists project their politics onto the pointedly apolitical Dolly Parton (Rest in Power?) And finally, no PG episode would be complete without Sam rambling about extreme weather and the American Southwest. All this and more...

Woke Is Dead, Long Live Woke w/ Sophie Weiner episode artwork
08/14/2026

Friend of the pod and veteran of the posting wars Sophie Weiner joins us to discuss the latest round of wokeness discourse touched off by AOC in her recent interview with ABC in which, in grand ableist fashion, she declared Woke 1 to have been "crazy." Mass protests against racist police violence, silly tweets, and other things people stupidly conflate when they talk about Woke 1. What is actually good about being woke, and what should be left in the past? The need to defend police and prison abolition as core tenets of communist thought. Plus, Jamie's thoughts on why revolutionaries...

Hear about his escapades as he visits Buddhist temples, tropical Islands and the densest urban neighborhood on planet earth. Deep in the jungle of Southern Thailand, what are the karaoke bars like? Did Sam end up visiting the Great Wall of China? Did the Communist Party of China's propaganda museum work on him? 07/24/2026

Jamie gets some of the LA gang (Jake Flores, Lena NW) back together to talk about writer/director Curry Barker's runaway hit 'Obsession,' in which an incel dude makes a wish that violates his female friend's consent. What's going on with young people today such that this movie is speaking to them so deeply? Is it something new, or the same old horror? And what does any of this have to do with Luigi Mangione? The gang expounds.

Women over 40 are having more babies than teenagers for the first time in US history, for both good and bad reasons. The cyclospora outbreak is ruining summer for salad people. Heroes are tracking and disabling Flock surveillance cameras in cities across the country. Haha, Lindsey Graham died and now we get to hear his gay sex secrets. Jamie is joined by Jensen, an activist who was on the ground for the most intense portion of the anti-ICE actions at the Delaney Hall detention facility in Newark, NJ. They discuss the history of the privately-run GEO group facility and how it developed to this point of crisis. What tactics were used by prisoners inside the facility and protesters outside, and what limits did they come up against? The feckless behavior of local Democrats like Newark mayor Ras Baraka. The implications of state repression. And why is migrant defense a strategic area for revolutionaries to intervene in?

The anti-ICE protests both inside and outside of the privately run Delaney Hall detention center in Newark, NJ, which, as of publication, show no signs of letting up. Between the flaming barricades, a sitting Senator getting pepper sprayed by ICE, and Greg Bovino threatening to "handle it himself," Delaney is becoming a key flashpoint in the fight against Trump's deportation machine. In the second half we discuss Boots Riley's new film "I Love Boosters," an eye-popping tale of shoplifting, teleportation, union drives, dialectics, and...a demon who sucks your soul out through your pussy? It do be like that sometimes. Boots Riley, come...

05/22/2026

It's Sam's last episode for three whole months! To see him off on his backpacking trip through Asia and Europe, the PG crew covers some good news, like the Luigi Mangione legal fund hitting $1.5 million [Jamie already talked about this with Tony, but she forgot], Idris Robinson getting his job back, and Green Scare victim Marius Mason's release from prison. In other backpack-related news, some of the evidence collected from Luigi's backpack will be suppressed while two key pieces, the gun and the notebook, will not be. We go over the shadiness of the missing bodycam footage. The crew...

Sam is joined by Eric King, an anarchist writer, antifascist organizer, and former federal prisoner whose new memoir, A Clean Hell: Anarchy and Abolition in America’s Most Notorious Dungeon, offers a firsthand account of incarceration inside some of the most restrictive prisons in the United States, including ADX Florence, Alcatraz of the rockies, the federal supermax sometimes described as the most secure prison in the world.

Eric, like many, was further radicalized during the Ferguson Rebellion in 2014, and since that time has devoted his life to abolitionism. On this week’s episode Sam and Eric talk life...

Jamie and guest cohost Tony Boswell look back on the life of Ben Morea, a towering yet humble figure on the anarchist left. From his days of causing trouble with Black Mask and Up Against The Wall Motherfucker in the late 1960s, to decades spent living underground in the American southwest, to his return to New York in the post-2000 era, his contributions will not soon be forgotten.

The second half is a classic Tony and Jamie messaround, with such important news items as: Luigi Mangione legal fund hits $1.5 million, United Healthcare drops pre-authorization requirements by 30%, Chris...

Dr. Arya Zahedi joins the PG team to discuss Iranian-leftist history, the revolution, idealism, and what is to be done. In this episode we talk about a text called The Anti-Imperialist Imperialism Club: On Left Internationalism and Iran, which can be found in Heatwave Magazine Issue two.

The PG crew revisits two evergreen themes: art under capitalism, and the evils of Big Tech. Specifically: Is Boots Riley a SELLOUT for using CAPITALIST MONEY to make COMMUNIST ART? We discuss. (We almost talked about the Strokes' political art at Coachella too, but we ran out of time.) And in the tech arena, we've got Facebook/Meta banning the word "antifa" because it considers it "violence and incitement," and Big Tech's attempt to further dismantle our healthcare system and erode workers' rights with "Uber for nurses." Luckily, nurses' unions are no joke.

Chamel Abdulkarim, you are hotter than that toilet paper warehouse that didn't pay you enough to live as it mysteriously burned to the ground. If only that DoorDash grandma (frownie face) had your verve. In related news, Sam Altman's house was attacked twice and workers are burning shit down in India. It's gonna be a long, hot summer! How did this ridiculous show trial, in which evidence included possession of a feminist essay on the movies of Ari Aster (yes, you read that right) result in convictions for the defendants on almost all counts? The invention of "Antifa" as a domestic terrorist group. The various ways the Trump administration put its thumb on the scale for the prosecution and the implications for dissent in the Trump 2.0 era. How this case dovetails with Trump's...

Political Freedom On Trial in North Texas: The Prairieland Case episode artwork
02/14/2026

Something terribly wrong has been unfolding in the aftermath of a July 4, 2025 solidarity demonstration outside of the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, TX. Sam is joined by Alex and Blue, two supporters of the Prairieland Defendants, some of whom begin trial next week on Feb. 17th. On July 4th, around a dozen people gathered to make a display of noise and fireworks to express solidarity with immigrants and ICE detainees who face the threat of deportation under Trump’s sweeping anti-immigration crackdown.
