Ze Shows – Anime Pulse

Did you know there’s a new Resident Evil movie out? And it’s directed by Zach Cregger who did the movie Weapons! So you know what that means. We’re doing two manga so that’s entirely unrelated. Unless maybe you count the fact we’re doing revisits which is kind of like rising from the grave. Yeah, so it’s like zombie manga. That’s the connection. We can make it all come around on a long enough timeline. Tim has Durarara. This time it’s the first two volumes. We have a large cast of colorful characters that’s very rush...

This week on Anime Pulse we got new beds, the best worst isekai crossovers, and the horny horny goblins. Up first IRL news sees Andrew refused to wear the M. Have you ever had to do your homework on the school bus on Monday morning? That’s what we had to do for a movie. I no small part because we’re bery professional. So we grabbed a nineties movie off the virtual shelf because Kevin Bacon is in it. It’s supposed to star Meryl Streep but we’re there for the Bacon. So we have The River Wild(1994). Meryl Streep is a teacher who’s architect husband is always busy. She yells at him and takes the kids to go river rafting. Husband finagles it so he can come along...

It’s officially Fall. It’s still pretty warm around us, hitting the high eighties and low nineties. But we’re seeing the leaves change and hoodies come out of storage. Which can only mean we need to be on the look out for the pumpkin spiced liquor of some kind. As is our tradition. Worst case we get pumpkin spice vodka and have fall shots. In the meanwhile, we have a pair of manga. First up is Tim with a mouthful of a title. It’s Not My Fault That I’m Not Popular! This is apparently a revisit from way b...

This week on Anime Pulse we got Re:Zero personality tests, antagonists who were right all along, and Digimon dragons. Up first IRL news with Andrew battling mosquitos, and Joseph messing up his foot while waiting for Friday dinner. Then in the industry news a Japanese VA wins a Tokyo court case against AI cloning. What if you were a cop but racist? That’s the bold thought experiment that Hollywood dared to ask with the movie Heart Condition(1990). But, stay with us here, what if he were a likable schlub who learned the error of his ways? So you cast Bob Hoskins as a cop who gets a heart transplant from Denzel Washington who now haunts Hoskins. Also they were both in love with the same prostitute who used to have a heroin problem. Nothing you haven’t seen before. Next up is Tim with The Runner[2026]. Gal Gadot was given the headline in anot...

This week on Anime Pulse we got girls playing Street Fighter, the death of a director, and raises. Up first IRL news with Andrew hitting a fighting game wall, and Joseph gets a raise that is so lackluster he looked to see if Amazon was hiring. Finally ending off with more reviews as Joseph is forced to be a hero with a loli goddess who requests head pats, and Andrew somehow ended up at an all-girls school where they secretly play button smashing...

By now you’ve probably heard about Dolly Parton’s passing. She was very big on getting children into reading and reducing illiteracy. In that case we’re going to continue to promote literacy by reviewing manga. That may sound completely disconnected but we’ve go nothing in the tank this week. Take this intro for the place holder they usually are and we’ll move on to the manga summaries. Tim has Jinmen. Men made of gin sounds like a hilarious manga, especially if they’re English. Instead we have Masato, a weird kid who loves going to the zoo. He’s be...

This week on Anime Pulse we got indentured servitude, bad anime adaptations, and a new Hololive generation. Up first IRL news has Andrew just surviving (or struggling to), and Joseph is nearing the end of his time picking collectable cards out of the trash. Then in the industry news the West says "erm, actually" that the streaming services are who decide the fate of broadcast anime. Finally another round of reviews gets Joseph bound up in chains as hot girls ride his back to fight monsters, and Andrew clocks in at his 9-5 job of being a corporate slave to...

We start off with side notes about my surgery and recovery, before diving into the regular news where we discuss the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, Roblox continuing to be the worst in every possible way, Nintendo revealing the incredibly questionable character models for the newest iteration of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Nvidia’s AI filter not only making your games look worse but also making them run like crap!! After the news we discuss food, anime, and burnouts!! All this and more up next on...

We’ve got three movies as we often do. What we don’t usually have is a movie that has three titles for a joint review. So without a lot of ado we’re going to talk about The Scoundrel’s Wife[2002](Also The Home Front or The Smuggler’s Wife). You should be able to find it to watch on the Tube. The director had a 4K restoration done and made available because it’s basically unwatchable otherwise. It’s a movie set in World War 2. It starts just before the attack on Pearl Harbor. It’s set in Louisiana where...

Then in the industry news, Clover Corp is announcing the merger of all Hololive branches. Lastly reviews wrap things up with Joseph going super saiyan to kill a dragon, and Andrew ignores the advances of a gal girl coded school girl.

You there, are you a resident? Move along then. This isn’t a park for everyone., No, I don’t care that your kids are bored and the park is farther away than this. This is a common area for residents only. And there’s no skateboarding or bike riding allowed. You aren’t going to leave, huh. Well if you sit real quiet and listen to this review of manga or two, we won’t trespass you. Hey, where are you going? First up is Tim with Kurosagi. Kurosaki is a swindlers swindler. He finds con artists and cons them. The...

Lastly we reach the reviews where Joseph uses his super culinary skills to cook up orc, dragon...

It’s been a very busy week. People constantly running around, doing things. Having all sorts of consequences. Honestly we’re happy that it’s been as calm as we can hope for as summer winds down. We’ll just be glad to not have to run the air conditioning all the damn time. Maybe have an excuse to wear a hoody outside and take along our concealed manga. But that’s a whole other show. We have Vengeance: A Love Story[2017]. A movie based on a Joyce Carol Oates novel. Which doesn’t really narrow it down. If you don’t know...

And finally we have a guest review from long time listener BioMegaBear who is doing battle while possessing battle Barbie's while I spend Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter dying of cringe. 💀

Man, how about that economy? It sure is contentious. How about those clowns in congress? Have you heard about the latest gaffe? With current events out of the way, we can take you mind off of them with the soothing balm of our voices and manga. So put on your headphones and tune the world out while we give you our trademark dual review(not actually trademarked). First up is Tim with Countach. Now if you’re not into historical supercars, that might sound like some good old fashioned mumbly jumbly. It is the name of a famous model by La...

This week on VG Pulse, we have a nice short and sweet show! We start off with side notes of work and upcoming medical things, before we dive into the regular news where we discuss data breaches, Sony’s ongoing disc less parade, Twitch doing shady Twitch things, and a very very old lawsuit that somehow only just reached resolution! After the news, I give my review of ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs, and Millennium gives his review of Forza Horizon 6! We finish off with talk of anime and some real good produce! All this and more up next on VGP 439!! -A...

It seems there’s another superhero movie out and we need to watch it. Who’s making this demand of us? No one in particular that we can point to. It’s just a sort of need. We can feel it. They call to us. Like the pirates of a certain ship in a much better movie. So we watched Supergirl[2026]. Superman’s cousin is not like other superheroes. She drinks and she has a dog. She likes to part and fuck around away from earth. Also she’s not like Clark, have we mentioned she’s not like Clark? Until a sad...

This week on Anime Pulse we got vacation hype, shoNO, and side character death battles. Up first IRL news with Andrew winning a PvP cup in the horse gatcha, and Joseph is upgrading his departure to Florida for peak comfort. Then in the industry news there is none! Lastly more reviews before whatever comes next week, as Joseph picks up a broken keyboard to use as a machine gun and Andrew meets IRyS while cleaning her apartment but she's not who he expected!

We recently were watching a show, a British show, where the host cheekily complained about making so many custom intros for their show. Wow, that must be a lot of intros that they’ve done. Let us look up and take count. Two hundred, that must be a lot. If you’re some sort of amateur. We beat the pants off of that. Of course we forgive the anglo for thinking they work. Tim has Domu. This is by the author of Akira and was published right after. You can tell because the thrust of things is a psychic old man...

This week on Anime Pulse we got love triangles, layoffs, and camping alone but someone joins you. After the newz Millennium gives his review on his new Moza Racing R9V3 racing wheel, and I give a review ofPeglin!! We fi...

Summer time when the manga is easy. At least as easy to come by as it always is. Not that we would ever let any kind of difficulties get in our way. We’re not so easily kept from our task of manga review. Grab some sorbet and pop in your headphones because we’ve got two manga and a couple of scores to give them. Tim has Ichi the Witch. Ichi is a dude, a little dude who hunts. He lives in a world where there are witches and they’re always ladies. These ladies go off to magic school...

This week on Anime Pulse we got wasp swarms, hacking ghosts, and no community!? Up first IRL news sees Andrew back in London but not before going on the run of a lifetime, and Joseph found himself on the receiving end of a buzzing menace. Then in the industry news, there is none! And without any community segment, because Andrew got a bit sidetracked with IRL life things, that means the final previews centric show sees things out. Joseph discovers there's a reincarnated skeleton in his body made up of 100 girlfriends, Andrew transforms into a giant lizard that is totally...

Let’s hop into the Tardis and take you back to a simpler time. Hold up your sporks and prepare to ship Sherlock with the Onceler. Do you remember when Johnny Depp was basically just Jack Sparrow in every damn movie? Let us remind you with Mortdecai[2015]. Depp plays the titular lord Mordecai. He’s English and he has a bad mustache. That’s a whole recurring joke they drive into the ground faster than a Robin Reliant strapped to a rocket. He has a wife, Gweneth Paltrow, and a rival in Ewan Mcgregor who’s horny for her. He’s deep in...

This week on Anime Pulse we got painful thighs, revenge, and alternate realities. Up first IRL with Andrew has him back in his homeland seeing family, and Joseph took his first bike ride in 20 years. Finally another round of previews to see us out with Joseph dying as a corporate slave tomb raider and reincarnating as a rearguard who has to play otome games, and Andrew goes on a foodie roadtrip after becoming a maid who crushed her homeland with books.

It’s been hot folks. The depths of summer have arrived along with the heat. We’re living through some wonderful triple digits for those of us that use freedom units. The rest of the world can just be wrong and measure weather with an imprecise system made up by, gag, the French. You’d think that alone would be enough to convince the rest of the world to abandon it. Also, we still have manga reviews. Up first is Tim with I’m Nearly 30, but This is My First Love. We have a twenty eight year old woman, Yamamoto who is f...

This week on Anime Pulse we got old men in various shapes, Wingstop, and community submitted anime characters. Up first Andrew is just doing the usual to get back in shape, and Joseph visited a new chain restaurant. Then in the industry news, does anyone care that Akira is being rereleased on big film? We start out with side notes of rocks, before diving into the regular news where we discuss Sony’s amazing series of L maneuvers over the last few weeks and the ongoing fallout, Xbox thinking of following in Sony’s L path, and the ESA making some wild claims in their fight against SKG!! After the news we go over the discord discussions, and end off with some very spicy and divisive talk of anime!! All this and more up next on VGP 437!!! -Aki Music Intro – Tetris A Theme Guitar Cover by Fam...

It’s movie time for the Popcorn gentlemen. Which normally means a three-fer of a review. We like to shake it up every once in awhile and do two dual reviews. It doesn’t take us any less work but then you get less reviews. Or maybe you get better analysis because we’ve both focused on the two films. Rather than simply reacting to what the other remembers, infallibly, about their individual watch. First up is The Best Offer[2013]. Geoffrey Rush plays Virgil Oldman. Like the Kojima character he’s modeled off of, Virgil is old and a man. He’s an...

This week on Anime Pulse we got a return with previews, a return with no news, and a return with stuff. I dunno, does anyone even read these? Anyways, up first IRL news with Joseph having done a whole lot of nothing the past week and Andrew touches on his trip. No industry news this week because the website tried to charge Andrew a subscription, so community it is with displacement theory. Lastly are the previews as Joseph reincarnates after defeating the demon lord into a dragon cat whose classes in heavy knight, and Andrew chain smokes 500 manga issues behind...

Bada bing, bada boo, we got a manga show for you. Yes, we could have said bada boom. It wouldn’t have had the same impact. Rhyming is paramount and what we were aiming for, after all. Not that it rhymed very well or anything. Look, we just have to get something down and desperation makes for a pushy mistress as the deadline looms. Either way, we still have a pair of manga. First up is Tim with Monsters We Make. It’s an OEL set in the future year of XX. You see there was something of a disaster and...

Hey guys, remember random monkey things? Like monkey pirate ninjas? Well what if they were carriers of a super infections disease that ate your face and turned you into a puddle of goo within two days? We sort of have that going on with today’s movie, Outbreak(1995). It’s about a disease that crops up in Africa in the sixties. It’s carried by capuchins because then they’re not quite as horrifying as something like a chimp. The military bombs the outbreak spot after collecting a sample. Fast forward to modern day, the nineties, and there’s a new outbre...

This week on Anime Pulse we got sunburn, abrupt endings, and bland isekai. Up first in the IRL news Andrew is feeling a bit under the weather, and Joseph suffered three ways while doing yard work. Then in the industry news the Japanese government is centralizing anime. Lastly another round of reviews see Joseph gathering up the scraps of adventure in an isekai, and Andrew revvs a chainsaw while riding a shark into a tornado.

This week on VG Pulse, Aki is extra ‘splody among all the Not-E3 madness!! We start off with sidenotes of why Aki ‘sploded last week, before diving into the regular news where we discuss GTA6’s price reveal, Steam’s new computer, and then we go over our thoughts and reactions to the various Not-E3 shows from this year!! We continue on with a discussion about the age of a fictional character, and more proof that age verification sucks!! We finish off with talk of anime!! All this and more up next on VGP 436!! -Aki Music Intro – Tetris A Theme Guitar Cov...

Welcome to our fishery. Old Two Cut Tuna. Named because we always take two slices out for ourselves. It’s a tradition we started since we did manga reviews. At least that’s what we’d like to be called if we did guided fishing tours. Having seen the cost of boats and fuel, we’ll stick to manga reviews. With that, we have two like we often do. First up is Tim with XoGenasys. It’s the future and Darisu Smith is a kid in the future. He fights with other school kids and has a sister. His fighting prowess ge...
